Murkystrike took a shuddering breath as Mistyfalcon pressed close to her, burying her head briefly in his shoulder. She took a heartbeat to try to stop the tears, at least for now, and it seemed to start to work when Mistyfalcon growled and slipped away, leaving only the cold air where he had been moments before. His change in demeanor brought her head up, and her eyes hardened when she saw the two rogues near Batglow, who seemed paralyzed. Mistyfalcon circled around on silent paws, and Murkystrike circled the other way. She channeled her sorrow and grief into anger at the rogue's interruption, nodding at Mistyfalcon as he lunged at one of the rogues. Leaping out of the shadows, Murkystrike did the same to the other rogue. As she rolled with her opponent, she timed her correction to spring to her paws and land facing the cat she had attacked, fur fluffed out completely to make her look far larger than she actually was. "You've made a terrible mistake, coming here again." She hissed, her voice low and menacing as she dropped into an aggressive crouch, putting herself between the unknown cat and Batglow.
Murkystrike used Jumping Strike on Tancred, dealing 13 damage (9 base + 3 unfocused + 1 Night Finesse) costing 7 SP.
Something was off he could feel it. Batglow watched as his two friends jumped into action right away, yellow green eyes looking around wildly as he tried to determine what was going on. Berry here? There is no way his brother would be out on his own, even with one lacky.. The roar of the fights caught his attention.. He couldn't leave his friends to fight on their own. The bad feeling wouldn't leave him even as he jumped into the fight. One thing he knew, these cats weren't going to play fair.
Batglow used Jumping Strike on Berry dealing 12 damage (8 base + 3 unfocused + 1 night finesse), -7 SP
Batglow: 60/60 HP 133/140 SP
Mistyfalcon: 70/70 hp 153/160 sp
Berry: 40/65 hp 140/140 sp
Rogues used Scruff Shake dealing 7 damage, -20 SP. Mistyfalcon is stunned for two turns, Murkystrike is stunned for one turn.
With a growl, Mistyfalcon struggled against the teeth that embedded themselves into the back of his scruff. The rogue's grip was strong, however, and he was unable to wrench himself free like he wanted to. Batglow had raced over to help him, and he wanted to growl at him and tell him to go help Murkystrike instead. Logically, he knew that was foolish, and he also knew that Murkystrike wouldn't thank him for it, she was a warrior and just as capable of defending herself as he was... Not that it would ever prevent him from worrying.
Murkystrike hissed as the rogue buried their teeth in her scruff, eyes narrowing as they held tight and wrenched on her neck fur. Dropping low to the ground, she waited for a heartbeat before suddenly rolling, relieved to feel the fangs leave her pelt as the rogue was dislodged. Jumping back to her paws, she lashed out with unsheathed claws aimed for the rogue's cheek. As the wound was scored, she fluffed herself up to be as big as she could get, fury in her eyes. "How dare you." Batglow had joined Mistyfalcon, she could hear them fighting together. Her tail lashed behind her as she circled her opponent, searching for an opening.
Murkystrike used Random Recall, breaking the stun for 5 SP. She then used Front Paw Strike, dealing 11 (+1 Night Finesse) damage for 7 SP.
"Well well what do we have here?" A voice spoke up as a group of cats was slowly approaching the battle that was going on. The pretty calico cat approached, her green eyes scanning the scene with glee. Behind Vea was three other rogues. One in particular, Pea, was looking rather guilty.
"The whole family is here now." The rogue leader looked over at the rogue that currently had stunned the fluffier black warrior "Nice job finding him Berry, I was just coming to talk to him once again."
Batglow backed up a step, stepping away from his brother and to get away from his mother. "What do you want?" The tall tom growled out, his fangs bared towards the calico. Yellow green eyes glancing to the other rogues. Six total cats.. There was no way. Mistyfalcon and Murkystrike were in grave danger.
"You know what I want." Vea said. A simple nod of her head and the three rogues behind her spread out surrounding the group, leaving no option for escape. "Come home with me, and your little friends here and your clan will no longer have to suffer from our attacks.. Or you can stay and fight.. and watch them die. Of course I don't think you want any deaths on your soul any longer." Vea said with a slight smirk.
Batglow's eyes flicked rapidly between all of the cats before landing back on his mother. He didn't have a choice. Either they died fighting here.. or the cats he cared for most lived to see another day.. He couldn't take losing any more cats.. This whole situation was all of his fault.. If.. If he hadn't brought them here.. If he hadn't spoken to Pea on good terms.. Then maybe this all could have been avoided.. Maybe more cats would be alive today..
The tall back tom closed his eyes, and relaxed his posture. "Fine. I will go with you. You have to swear to leave Shadowclan alone."
Vea nodded, her grin changing to a more friendly one now that she had gotten what she wanted. "I have always been a cat of my word. Come along now Fang, our base awaits." She turned away from the group, waiting for Batglow to join her by her side, once he stepped ahead of her she turned to look at the other rogues. "Keep them here, make sure they don't follow. If they attack.. well you know what to do." Vea laid her tail up on her sons shoulders before the two started to disappear in the distance.
Berry eyed the two remaining cats with a glare. "Stay here. We will leave shortly once we know you won't follow." The tom stood tall, obviously the leader of the rogues now that his mother wasn't there. His tail held high. Ready to give a signal to the others just in case they attacked.
Pea didn't bother to look at the two remaining warriors, her gaze stayed towards the ground but her brother was in her sight. If he gave the command to fight, she had no choice but to fight.
Murkystrike was able to free herself, and Mistyfalcon continued to struggle against the filthy rogue that had him by the scruff. Blood dripped from his neck, but he hardly felt the wounds that must have been there. Rage burned within him, hot as the fires that had ravaged Skyclan territory seasons before as more rogues appeared.
Vea, he realized. And the other female. Their names were irrelevant. Mistyfalcon's gaze settled on them as Vea spoke, a low growl rumbling in his chest at her words. How dare she. Batglow was Shadowclan, he wasn't one of them and would never be one of them. The threats were nothing new. Asylum had threatened Shadowclan into compliance too. And if it was one thing Mistyfalcon hated, it was threats on his family, his friends.
"Flea-ridden foxhearts," Mistyfalcon spat, tail thrashing back and forth. He would kill every last one of them, if he could. But there were six of them, and he and Murkystrike were already bleeding. And he was no fool. Vea, he thought, wasn't bluffing. She'd threatened to kill him and Murkystrike if Batglow fought, and the reverse was very likely true as well. His tail continued to lash, claws slicing through the soft earth beneath.
"Batglow-" He hissed out, disbelief at his friend plain to see. Foxdung! He couldn't just-
But he had, and Vea was clearly enjoying every moment of this. Mistyfalcon would enjoy sinking his fangs into her throat if he ever had the chance to do so. "Batglow will never be one of you." He spat, murderous gaze settling on the tom that had just ordered them to stay put like a pair of insolent kits. The only thing that kept him from attacking was the numbers advantage they held... And fear for both Batglow and Murkystrike. He could attack, and then he'd be dead. There wasn't a foxing thing he could do, and it was beyond infuriating.
All he could do was watch Vea and Batglow's retreating forms.
"Murkystrike-" He began urgently, "-they aren't bluffing, we both know it. And we have no chance against six of them." The tone of his voice suggested he very much wanted to attack anyways. Yet they were outnumbered... And finding reinforcements would be a better idea. Vea had mentioned a base, and one way or another Shadowclan would find it.
Murkystrike whirled as another voice suddenly cut through the heat of her battle, and she hissed as Vea's face emerged from the shadows. Every word that the so-called leader of these rogues spoke filled her with rage, and her tail lashed from side to side. How she longed to crush Vea's throat between her jaws. As she named one of the cats next to her, the deputy's glare shifted to the cat they had encountered so many moons ago. Her eyes narrowed in hate and disdain at the liar, and she growled low in her chest. "I ought to rip your lying throat out of your neck. When you least expect, I will make you regret ever showing your pretty little face here."
Her eyes shifted to count how many opponents were now present, and her tailed flicked in agitation. They were far too outnumbered, and she knew it. Even with all three of them fighting... Then Batglow gave himself up. All anger left her as suddenly as it had appeared, leaving a vast, cold emptiness spreading from her chest. The words couldn't come at first, wouldn't come. "N-No... Bat... You can't. You can't give in to them... Come on." She pleaded, but Batglow had already turned and joined Vea. As the she-cat grinned, Murkystrike wanted nothing more than to rake her claws across her face. The choking sensation in her throat tightened as she watched Batglow get led away. She started to raise a paw to follow, to run and grab him, and make a break for it, but Mistyfalcon's voice stopped her. He spoke the truth, and she knew it. She couldn't bear to meet his eyes, her gaze still locked on Batglow's back. Taking a deep, shaky breath, the deputy placed her paw back on the ground and stood tall, the cool breeze rustling through her long fur as she turned to Vea. "This isn't over. You gave up your claim to Batglow when you left him for dead in the marshes. ShadowClan doesn't abandon family, unlike you. Batglow... I'll see you soon. I promise that. I love you." She couldn't keep the façade for long, already her words were threatening to catch in her throat. Turning to Mistyfalcon, she flicked her tail for him to follow, brushing against trees and pushing her paw print in the mud for an easy path to follow back. They would collect reinforcements, and follow their scent trail. Vea wouldn't get away anymore.
