Howlin' [Closed]

The large white fluffy tom stood towards the entrance of Thunderclan camp. His green eyes moving around the camp waiting for one of his clanmates or perhaps a friendly Asylum cat to join him in a simple hunting patrol. He knew that some of the not so friendly ones were watching him, waiting for him to take his little patrol out, so they could follow. He didn't like it. He was tired of being followed around but it was those stupid rules they had agreed too. Hopefully.. Hopefully they wouldn't have to put up with it for too much longer. For now he waited for just one other. Just a small patrol was all he wanted today.

"Patrol, huh, Dovefrost? It would do me some good to get out of camp." Maddening thoughts had crept into the she-cat's waking hours. It had been some time since she had crossed paths with Jayshriek at the border. Often, Kitefire found herself awoken to an intoxicating scent that proved to be little more than some phantom contrived by her desperate mind. Something clawed at her chest, a carnal desire that contrasted ever ounce of sanity she possessed. All of this culminated in little more than a soft frown that briefly worried itself onto her maw. The she-cat, whose frame was already less than half the size of her younger companion, was made all the stranger by the constant tipping of her slender head. After a moment, she shrugged and shook out her coat, disregarding the various prying eyes around them in spite of the way they raked her pelt, "Well, lets get to it then. Better than mulling around here all day." She offered the tom a warm smile and flickered her tail as she trotted through the entrance. The warrior's paws buzzed with a mixture of anticipation and gnawing dread but she pushed it away for the sake of herself and for the clanmate whose side she would hunt by. Despite the way she carried on so carefree, her pelt was never more than a tail-length from Dovefrost's.

Dovefrost let out a low hum as Kitefire had approached mentioning how getting out of camp would do them some good. He hadn't really interacted with the older she-cat much before but he appreciated her willingness to come out with him on a hunt. He followed her without saying much more on the subject. His form easily dwarfing hers. His green eyes looking back as he watched other asylum cats slip out of the camp behind them, following along but bound to most likely do nothing like usual. "They are following.." He rumbled out, his voice low and gravely but monotone like usual. "Hopefully they won't disturb the pray too badly for us."

"Pay no mind to it, they're always following." Her voice was tight, restrained, as she quipped back the reply and didn't even turn to face the tom. Instead, the warrior's gaze flicked about the forest in the most unassuming manner. Never would Kitefire betray the churning discomfort that had buried itself like a persistent tick. She stuck close to Dovefrost with her head tipped in his direction despite the shift of her gaze. If he had to warn her of something it was better to be prepared than make herself a helpless kit. Such a thought caused her claws to flex instinctively. Ignorant to her own tendency to subtly rely on others, the warrior would never admit to such a thing nor actively entertain the idea that another cat would need to take care of her.

Just ahead there was a flicker of movement. Immediately, Kitefire narrowed her gaze. Hesitation was brief, given the circumstances, before she launched herself forward. The squirrel had been absentminded in its futile pursuit of digging away at the soft snow but quickly skittered off as the she-cat drew near. Just as she had leaped, it sensed her presence. A mere breath separated her claws from the soft flesh of prey. Landing, there came a low hiss. So much for a decent catch. Kitefire rounded to return back to her hunting partner. Disappointment flickered across her gaze before eyes glossed over into an unreadable expression once more, "Hopefully you have more skill to bring that that. You'd think I was a kit, stalking a squirrel like that. I'll catch something else soon, though, don't worry."

Dovefrost didn't mind the miss on Kitefire's part. He knew that the warrior would catch something, but it was still leaf-bare.. While things were warming up prey was still scare hiding from the fluctuating weather. The white tom didn't comment much. "You will get something." His reassurance wasn't much but he didn't think he needed to say anything else on it.

His gaze turned, a single ear flicking at the sound of something scuffling among the roots of a tree. The large tom walked away, his heavy footfalls going silent. The tom dropping low the closer he got to the mouse searching for seeds among the roots. He moved forward, creeping closer and closer before he leaped forward trying to pin the mouse under his large paws.

A warning screech caught the tom off guard causing the mouse to slip away from him, and for him to stumble among the routes of the tree. The large white tom quickly straightened up, green eyes meeting talons out stretched for him. "Oh stars.." He cursed out as he braced himself for the pain he was about to bear. The tom hissed through the pain before he turned with claws lashing out at the eagle.
