Tumbling Waters [open-ish? Maple, Reaper]

Dusk had fully fallen by the time her escort started to slow their padding through the frost bitten grasses. Night was worse, Paisley reasoned, because the winds and rain both stopped for no one.

She looked up, still drowsy from her scruff hold. Her fluffy, wispy calico pelt provided some protection from the winds, but not from the rain. Her amber eyes looked around her, processing her new surroundings. There was water everywhere, and she felt watched.

They’ve... stopped?

Paisley felt herself ready her broad paws, which spread out like a web, letting her walk on the frost. She turned her sandy colored head to all of the peering eyes, feeling watched.

Once they had reached the camp the warrior had stopped. She was careful not to get the kit anymore wet than what the rain had cause but there was the fact that chill was setting in for her. She could feel the cold ache in her bones and wanted nothing more to curl up with her mates in the warriors den but there were more important matters to attend to.

Carefully Stormbringer set the kit down on her front paws, trying to keep her off the cold wet ground, also adding some of her own warmth back to the younger kit. The gray deputy looked around looking for a certain one of her loves, and leader. "Ivystar? Where's Ivystar?" Hopefully theeader was near by and could hear her mates calls.

Just outside the warrior's den, Ivystar stood speaking with one of her senior warriors about the patrol that they'd led earlier in the day. Simple talk, really- Asylum had followed them around as they marked the border, nothing too trivial. What happened next, though, certainly caught Ivystar's attention. Stormbringer, her mate, sat just inside camp, a gaggle of Asylum cats surrounding her and a tiny, shivering kit on her front paws. Well, what a sight to see. She turned to utter some parting words to her warrior before quickly padding over to Stormbringer, glancing between her, the kit, and the Asylum cats scattered about camp.

"I'm here. Where'd you find this kit?" She leaned over so that she was at eye-level, trying to catch a whiff of what she might smell like... And it was terribly familiar. She couldn't quite place it, but Ivystar knew that this kit had something to do with RiverClan... It had to have been in the territory for a while, at least... Strange. "What's your name?" She mewed, voice as gentle and kind as it could be, despite the sleepless nights she'd had for days on end.

Ivystar? That’s a bizarre name.

Paisley sniffed towards her escort. They smelled of the river still, despite the rain. The smell soothed her senses, and she felt at peace until a chill racked through her body.

She remained quiet while the adults talked, then the strange cat Ivystar got to her level.

“Paisley,” she replied, hiding under the other cat to keep warm, curling up with her bushy tail in front of her face. She scanned the face of the RiverClan leader, but she wasn’t able to get much from her. “I was following my mom’s scent and then I got to the river and then it rained...”

She was almost the age when the Asylum started light training, and did not yet bear the training scars that they had. She wondered if her mom would see her caught up like this. It felt like forever since she had seen her mom, and a part of the kit felt as though she were broken irreparably.

But there was something about the river and these new cats. She flicked her tail, now meeting the leader’s eyes with her own wide amber ones.
