In the Shades [Open - Hunting]

The lanky black tom stood near the entrance of the Shadowclan camp. The dancing shadows from the shining moon above flickered on and off of his pelt. His yellow eyes scanned the clearing looking for anyone to go out hunting with him. Maybe the Asylum would? Or maybe his own clan would? Batglow flicked his gaze back and forth before he finally sitting down and waiting patiently.

Mistyfalcon had spotted Batglow standing near the entrance of camp, and padded over with a flick of his tail. He looked like he was waiting for a patrol to go out, and Mistyfalcon figured a clanmate would be more welcome than the rogues.

"Hey, Batglow." He greeted. "Going hunting?" He asked hopefully. Mistyfalcon had spent most of his days recently going on hunt after hunt. It was better than sitting idle and allowing himself time to think.

Flintstar pushed his way out of the den, blinking at the faint rays of moonlight that casted a cold glow against the camp's floor. His eyes fell upon two familiar pelts standing at the entrance, ears catching Mistyfalcon's question. The leader paused as he shifted on his paws, slowly acknowledging how...Long it had been since he had gone hunting. He had barely left the camp since Asylum had arrived, more focused on keep an eye on things. But he couldn't deny that while he was content to linger, the idea of fresh-air was...Tempting.

And besides, he had told himself that he wanted to get closer with Batglow. Perhaps this was the perfect moment. "I'll be coming with you," he meowed as he approached, not thinking about the fact that it was slightly rude to just...Force himself in like this. His eyes fell to a small group of Asylum cats that were approaching - as was dictated by the rules that Flintstar had agreed to. Eyes on them at all times...Joy.

As soon as Mistyfalcon approached, Batglow felt himself perk up. It had been a bit since the two of them had been hunting. The last time was when they were apprentices. "Yeah I'm going hunting. I'm guessing you want to join?" The tom asked but before he could het an answer someone else showed up. Not one he was expecting.

As soon as Flintstar said he was coming along, a grin broke out on the younger warriors face. "Of course! It would be nice to have you along." It was nice to see that he was following up on the agreement they had made on their trip to the moonstone those many moons ago. Since it didn't see like anyone else was coming besides their unwanted escorts, Batglow decided it was time to get moving. "Let's get going shall we?" The lanky tom said before moving for the exit.

"Of course." He grinned in response, posture relaxing at Batglow's response. Hunting was better than sitting around in camp, at any rate, and now that he thought about it, it really had been a while since he'd gone hunting with Batglow, they hadn't since they'd been apprentices.

Flintstar approached then, and Mistyfalcon's tail waved in acknowledgement. It would be good to have him along, and the blunt way that Flintstar said he was coming along was something of a relief.

Of course, there was an Asylum escort as well, making his paws shift in discomfort. It couldn't be helped, he knew that. That didn't change his discomfort, however, and he'd be glad to focus on hunting prey rather than focusing on the shadows that trailed them.

With a nod, he followed Batglow out of camp, falling into step beside his fellow warrior, dark eyes scanning ahead for signs of prey. It didn't take Mistyfalcon long to spot a vole, and with a flick of his tail to signal his intentions, the dark-furred tom slid into a crouch as he slunk away from his clanmates and towards the vole. It was a scrawny thing, thanks to leafbare, but Shadowclan needed prey.

When he was close enough, he leapt for the vole, one paw pinning it in place as he quickly nipped it and ended its' life.

Flintstar nodded to the pair as they seemed happy to have his company, a little relieved as he knew it had been...A while since he had properly gone out with his Clanmates. He followed the pair, being certain to stick between them and the Asylum escort as he glanced over his shoulder to glare at them - a silent warning for them to simply watch and not try anything that would jeopardize their 'alliance.' He watched as Mistyfalcon separated to hunt down a vole, catching it with little issue. He dipped his head in acknowledgement of the warrior's skilled catch, opening up his mouth to taste the leaf-bare air for prey of his own.

His eyes narrowed as he caught a whiff of frog, his stomach rumbling as it had been quite a while since had one - it seemed they knew better than to linger in the cold weather. Well, most of them did at least. The leader dropped into a crouch, drawing forward as he pin-pointed its location - unmoving on a log. No doubt the cold weather had sapped its strength before it could find a better place to hide - not that the leader minded. He drew closer, before he made a leap and landed on it. It shifted, the force enough to stir it from its impromptu slumber but it was too late and Flintstar killed it swiftly. He picked it up and turned, heading back to where he had left his group with a sense of pride to finally be hunting again.

Batglow had watched the others carefully split off on their own after their own prey. His long tail swishing silently behind him as his yellow green eyes watched the two older cats before darting off at the sound of something else. His ears twitching as he tried to listen in on the sound. His maw dropping open trying to catch the scent. Carefully the tom crept off away from the patrol a little following the sounds, and scents.. It was rat.. If it was a big one it could feed a few cats.

The tom crept closer searching the cold terrain for the rat when he eyed it scurrying among the plants that stuck up. He crouched low, not minding the wet and cold on his paws and belly as he crept forward. The scent of the rat flooding his senses as he got closer. When he was close enough he leapt for it.

A loud screech filled his ears as soon as he leapt, and a fire tore through his skin as he felt talons digging into his back. It seemed it wasn't only him that wanted this rat. Batglow let out a hiss out of pain. He pressed himself low to the cold ground trying to get himself out of the way of another attack and hope the others were on their way to help him. The rat was easily back in its burrow by now.

Owl used Talon Strike dealing 10 damage, -10 SP

Misty quickly buried his prey, and had picked up the scent of hare. Maybe he was getting a little more confident than he should've. He'd caught several of them recently, and each time he caught one it was a thrill of unexpected excitement. Perhaps he could catch another, tonight.

A loud screech split the night air, which had been fairly quiet with a group of fairly introverted hunters. Mistyfalcon's head snapped up, tattered ears twitching back in alarm as he instinctively bounded toward the sound. A hiss, one of pain... Batglow. Spotting the owl, Mistyfalcon immediately sprang forward.

He leapt, sinking his teeth into the owl's wing, close to it's body. Dragging it to the ground, he clawed at it with his front paws, dark gaze flitting briefly to Batglow's form. The tom was bloody, hopefully it wasn't anything serious.

Mistyfalcon used Teeth Grip for -20sp, dealing 10 damage. Teeth Grip turn 1/1.

Flintstar's ears perked at the sound of combat, picking up the pace until he busted into the small area where Batglow and Mistyfalcon were fighting. Mistyfalcon had managed to ground the owl, teeth deep into the owl's wing as it struggled to break free. The leader could see blood staining Batglow's darkened pelt and anger flared up in his chest. He dropped the frog as he broke into a full-on sprint, claws sinking into the owl's back as he arrived. He ripped and tore at the feathers, blood staining his claw and his pelt as he gave it no mercy - it would pay for laying a claw on his nephew's pelt.

Flintstar used Rending Front Paws, dealing 20 damage and costing 25 stamina.

Relief filled the tom as soon as the others showed up. He stood and moved away from where Mistyfalcon had a grip on the owl. There was a sting in his back as he moved, he could feel his blood warming the skin under his pelt. He would have to get Iniko or Rookpaw to look at his wounds after he got back. He of course could assist in getting things prepared. He spent enough time with Mothglow that he remembered a thing or two. For now though there was an Owl that he wanted to bring down and bring back as prey.

He turned to the owl bringing his paws up and slashing at the owl as best as he could ignoring the sting in his back.

Mistyfalcon couldn't keep his grip as the owl flailed and Flintstar joined in the attack, but that was fine. THey'd collectively weakened the owl enough to where it couldn't fly even if he hadn't been holding onto a wing, so he quickly released the feathered thing and reared up instead, claws glinting as he slashed at the owl.

Eventually the owl lay still, and Mistyfalcon stepped back, gaze landing on Batglow.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Mistyfalcon used Rear-Up To Slash for -15sp, dealing -13 damage.

Flintstar stepped back as the other two struck the owl - endings its life. He lifted his head and stared hard at the Asylum cats that had been watching them, eyes narrowed with the barest snarl rising in his throat at the simple fact that they had done nothing to help. They were lucky it had just been an owl, something easy enough to take out. The leader huffed, turning back to his Clanmates as Mistyfalcon questioned if Batglow was okay. "I'm relieved that you were not more hurt but yes, how are you? Should we return to camp or...?" he drifted off as he titled his head, wanting to give Batglow an option - it was his hunting patrol. If Batglow didn't think it was terrible, he was fine to continue hunting...Even if the leader would perhaps be a bit more careful to remain closer in case anything else decided to pose an issue.

While his back wounds did sting a good amount it wasn't anything to harsh that would get in the way if they continued hunting. He just couldn't stay out too long, didn't need to get it infected. "I should be fine to continue for a little longer, but not much more." Batlgow informed the others. "Don't need to risk infection especially in leaf bare. Thank you for assisting me with the owl." Hopefully they wouldn't have much more trouble.
