Good Evening [Closed]

Stormbringer felt her claws sink into the muddy ground as she stretched, trying to rid any of her body from any left over exhaustion. The nap had helped her recover some of the energy she needed for the rest of the day. It had been a while since she had worked with any of her apprentices, Turtlepaw especially and she felt bad so today she was going to change that.

The gray deputy shook out her fur before moving to find her apprentice. Once she spotted him among her clanmates in the camp, she called out to him. "Turtlepaw, would you like to go hunting?" Hopefully he would agree to come along with her.

The small tom dropped the mossball he'd been holding, startled by Stormbringer's call. "S-sure! I'd love to!" His half-tail raised in the air a little bit, indicating that his nervousness was driven by excitement rather than fear. Turtlepaw was more than glad that the deputy was his mentor, and he didn't want to look stupid and mess things up. Stormbringer was perhaps a little bit scary, but that had more to do with the fact that she was a she-cat that the young tom didn't know particularly well. He was sure things would be less nerve-wracking when he got used to her. He scampered to her side, grinning up at the gray she-cat and holding back dumb questions to the best of his ability.

Stormbringer was happy with the young tom's response. Though she could sense his nervousness, as well as excitement. It was understandable on her part considering she hadn't spent much time with her apprentice as she should have but now she should be able too. "Great!" She responded with a purr. "Let's get going, Sunning Rocks will be the perfect spot for us to hunt today." Even with the river being low they should still be able to find some fish. If not there was prey among the rocks that they could try for. With a flick of her tail, she headed out of the camp.

Turtlepaw followed closely after, his short tail lifted in happiness. He'd seen fellow apprentices bringing in both fish and land prey and he wondered which kind he'd be asked to catch on this trip. Suddenly, his content expression dropped into a much more serious gaze. "Do you think we'll see ThunderClan cats?" He asked. He hadn't personally met any ThunderClan cats despite going to the last Gathering. The little tom had just been too timid to speak to anyone, even his own Clanmates, after a peculiar warning his father had given him not long after he was apprenticed to Stormbringer. "I didn't meet any of them at the Gathering. Do you know if they caught fire, too?" Turtlepaw couldn't help but be curious. He'd heard the River, even as low as it was, helped keep the fire away from their land, but ThunderClan didn't have that. Would they have to shelter the other forest cats as well?

Stormbringer shook her head. "I don't think they got affected to badly by the fire like Skyclan was." She appreciated the concern that her apprentice had for the other clan despite their rivalry. With issues like the fire, it felt right to her to help out those in need. "We may run into them while we are here, maybe not." Either way they would be on their territory so even if they ran into some not so friendly ones they were going to be okay.

It didn't take long to reach the Sunning Rocks. She was glad for it, the sun shining brightly as it was heading to set, the sky speckled with the occasional cloud. The river was still low, the mud cracked under their paws. "Let's see what we can find okay? Try your best." She told her apprentice.

He nodded wordlessly, wondering what the day would bring. It seemed like anything could happen, and Turtlepaw was ready to burst with anticipation. When the pair reached the sun-warmed stones, he took a moment to stretch out his legs and press his stomach against the warm ground while listening to Stormbringer's instructions. "Okay! I'll work hard!" He nodded, then jumped to his paws.

Though the water was low, the river was the apprentice's best bet. He could hunt land prey, he just had a preference for the sleek and glossy fish that the elders said were more abundant when the waters were higher. Eating prey with fur was... unsettling. Turtlepaw peered over the water, grinning briefly at his reflection. Beyond it he could see loaches and minnows circling, their scales glinting lightly in the sunlight. With a flash of his paw, Turtlepaw wrangled one of the squirming bodies onto the dry land and sank his teeth into it to still its wild flopping. With glee he set his fresh-kill at his paws and promptly identified it. "A carp, Stormbringer! I got it!"

Stormbringer let out a little purr at Turtlepaw managing to catch a carp. It was impressive to say the least considering the state of the river at the current moment but it was a good sign. Maybe the river would return soon enough? "Good job, Turtlepaw." The deputy said to her apprentice. Amber eyes turned towards the tree line where Thunderclan's border sat, the deputy making sure that there wasn't anyone else over there to disturb their hunting. While Sunning Rocks was Riverclan's not everyone was too friendly about having Riverclan so close.

Once she deemed it clear, she turned back to the water herself. Watching the low water roll down its path, looking for anything that was decent enough to catch. Once she saw a specific shadow she wanted, she flashed her paw into the warm water. She hiss lightly at herself once the shadow had slipped just out of her grasp. How could she be so careless? She looked over to her apprentice with a small chuckle trying to drive away the bitter feeling that came with her miss. "Seems like you are a better hunter than me."
