Jaykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Stormbringer jumped up on the Willow Branch calling out to her clan with practiced ease. "Let all cats old enough to swim gather here for a clan meeting!" The gray deputy's eyes turned to the ground below her watching and waiting on her clan to gather.

There was a newfound resonance in the muscles, an assurance overwrought with newfound comfortability slipping through the veins. The soft fur that had once framed the delicate riches of Jaykit’s austere features had given way to a firm and dark coat, irrefutable evidence of his precarious treading between youth and juvenile. Hardly making a sound atop the soft earth of the camp, the young tom’s dark paws seemed to glide across the soft bed of sand as he pridefully settled himself in the center of the unfolding commotion.

The faintly cruel glint in his sharp gaze made it undeniable that he was the precious son of Ivystar, a factor that brought the young tom immense pride. Angular point of his chin easily deflecting skyward as he cast a curious glance in the direction of his mother’s Deputy, the dark-furred little kit couldn’t help but give an overtly eager shiver. Hopefully it was finally his turn! Ivystar couldn’t keep him in the Nursery for any longer, or it would simply be ridiculous!

Amber eyes settled on her mate's son. Jaykit. She could see the tom took pride in that fact from the way he carried himself to join the gathering cats. That pride would be useful one day but she hoped that wouldn't be his downfall too.

She turned her attention back to her clan, finally breathing a small silent sigh before speaking up calling the full attention of the gathered cats. "Today we are gathered to name an apprentice. Jaykit please come forward " Stormbringer sat patiently letting the tom make his way forward. Once he made his way to the front she spoke again. "Jaykit. From this moment on, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Jaypaw. Your mentor will be Honeytongue. I hope she passes all she knows on to you." The gray deputy jumped down from the branch ending the ceremony to allow the new mentor and apprentice to get to know each other.

Oh...Another apprentice. Honeytongue had been silently watching the ceremony, proud of her step-son for finally reaching six moons old. But as she was named his mentor, her smile faded slightly. There...Was no denying that she hadn't the best luck with apprentices. Despite her numerous ones, not a single one had made it to warriorhood. She tried not to let it weigh down on her, to keep her spirits high but her faith in being a mentor was slowly dying, and being given the honor of being Jaypaw's mentor couldn't shake that. But...She didn't want to disappoint Ivystar, Stormbringer or Jaypaw so she quickly hid her doubt behind a soft smile as she pushed herself to her paws and approached. "Congrats, little one," she purred as she reached him and bent down to touch her nose to his. "We'll start your training soon."
