Juniperpaw's Moonstone Journey

Honeysong blinked her eyes open, her lids still feeling heavy with sleep. She slowly rose up into a sat and yawned widely. She was still so tired, but she could hear the chirping of songbirds outside telling the forest that it was time to wake up. She couldn't afford to sleep in today anyway; Sagelight had requested of her to bring her brother Juniperpaw to the Moonstone to meet with StarClan. She had agreed, of course, wanting her uncle to rest a little longer today before having to get up and check on their patients. Save for the medicine cat meeting and the birth of Blossomstep's kits perking him up a bit, she could tell that he still wasn't feeling quite up to par with the task she had to fulfill now.

The younger medicine cat went straight to work, wrapping the proper traveling herbs into two separate bundles using ivy leaves. She glanced over at a certain ingredient in their store, and she began debating whether or not she should add a couple drops of honey to her portion. After all the work she and Sagelight had done thus far, she could really use a pick-me-up. Then again, Blossomstep's kits were still very young, their immune systems not nearly as strong as those of the other cats of the Clan. If they ended up getting a sore throat, they would need it. She decided against using honey and carried the two herb bundles outside. She looked around the clearing, trying to spot her brother. Had he woken up yet? They would need to head out very soon if they wanted to make it to Highstones in time.

Juniperpaw bounced quickly to Honeysong's side, having been hiding in the shadows cast by the medicine cat den. He'd been alerted by Wolfcall that his Moonstone journey would be soon, and he was grateful for the distraction. Firflower had died. His mentor and grandmother passed somewhat peacefully the night of that dreaded Gathering, but at least he wouldn't have to be assigned another warrior to mentor him. He was slow but he'd finally made enough progress to make it this far. The little black tom was glad his big sister would be there with him. "I-I'm here, Honeysong! Congrats on the name, it's real pretty." He meowed, his wavering voice betraying the dismal mood he was trying to hide.
