Maplepaw set down her rabbit "Thank you StarClan, for this prey" She looked at her mentor  "Did I do it right?"

"You did indeed," Zinnia nodded, having overheard the traditional words a few times when on hunting patrols. "Remember to do so after you deliver a killing blow to your prey. And this rabbit will feed our Clanmates."

"It feels nice feeding the Clan!" Maplepaw exclaimed

(Does this count as my hunt for my requirement?)

"We all rely on one another," Zinnia mused. "This is just one more way we are held together - we hunt the prey the others eat, and we eat the prey the others hunt. Or perhaps I'm thinking too much," she added after a moment. It was difficult to know, really, but so long as her apprentice was learning then all was well.

"Ok!" Maplepaw answered, "May you teach me some battle moves?"

"Certainly. To begin, I'll stand here as a target, and firstly I'd like to see you try and attack me. It's best to know where you're beginning, after all, and then I'll show you some skills I think will benefit you," Zinnia instructed, taking on a defensive stance.

Maplepawdarted toward her mentor, excitement showing in her eyes.

Zinnia moved with speed and grace, appearing to very nearly glide out of the way. Perhaps she was showing off, just a little bit - it wasn't the most difficult thing in the world to dodge an apprentice's attack. She regarded Maplepaw for a moment, then nodded once. "Perhaps you will learn to do the same, with time and experience. As for the offensive... Do you see this stone?" she asked, gently resting her paw atop a nearby rock before removing it. "Today, it is our target."

She took an offensive stance, preparing to slice at it with her claws, when the approach of something nearby caught her eye. "Maplepaw," she ordered, voice deceptively calm. "Behind me. It seems we have a moving target to deal with."

The slow, slithering approach of the snake was not lost on her senses, and while she had no way of knowing whether or not its bite carried venom... Maplepaw would most certainly not be the cat to to find out. That meant that it had ample opportunity, however, to latch onto her leg with its fangs - which it swiftly managed to do. Zinnia refrained from hissing several less-than-polite words in front of her apprentice, though only just.

Turn Order: Snake > Maplepaw > Zinnia

Zinnia shook her paw wildly once Maplepaw retreated, swatting at the snake violently with her other paw, to no avail. "Let this be yet another lesson to you, Maplepaw," she mused, distracted by her efforts. "You are never quite as alone as you think you are - and there is a decent chance you will come across unwelcome guests." The snake, for all her efforts, seemed to cling to her further, and she regarded her apprentice as she realized the snake likely wasn't venomous. If it were, surely she'd be feeling the effects by now. "I suppose this is your moment, more than mine. At least it's less of a moving target like this."

Zinnia attempted to use Front Paw Strike on the Snake, but failed to hit.

The Snake used Serpentine Strike on Zinnia once again, dealing 10 damage and costing 20 stamina!
