Casualties of Carelessness [Pantherkit Death Topic][Closed]

...Fish moved with measured caution through the forest. He was lucky to have not been noticed travelling so near to Riverclans camp, and he did not wish to test his luck by moving without caution...

...He stops moving for a moment, sniffing the air for a moment before picking up the pace. He knew the smell of fox when he smelled it, and a creature like that was one he had no interest in facing...

...He looks up the from ground, the faint sound of leaves being crushed underpaw alerting him to the fact he was being followed...

...With a low growl he pounces on the bush hiding the assumed Fox, sending both him and the creature inside tumbling...

...Surprise enters Fish's face as he stands over the now dazed kit. "Oh... this isn't good," he says, realizing that it must have followed him from the Clan...

...He shook his head at the kits response, unable to decide if the thing was brave, or just fox-brained. "Oh no. I'm taking you back to your clan where you are going to go back to doing whatever things clan kits do and forget I exist, and I'm going to leave this cursed territory..."

...He stops abruptly, looking with narrowed eyes into the forest. "Kit... if we run into anything that isn't another cat, I am going to need you to do me a favor and-" He is cut of by a fierce rustle as a Fox runs out from the shrubbery towards Fish, its jaws snapping towards Fish, "-Run!"...

...The Fox takes another swipe at Fish, catching him on the side and opening a gash on his side...

...A hard blow from the Fox catches Fish on the side, dazing him and sending him stumbling into the ground...

...His eyes widen as Pantherkit ran from the bushes, saying something along the lines of, "Over here ugly!" and distracting the Fox standing over him long enough to allow Fish to get back on his paws...

...He could tell the Fox was starting to weaken, now grateful for Pantherkits distraction that allowed him to gain a chance...

...He hissed at the injured fox. Yet instead of retreating like he hoped, it instead pounced with its jaws wide open. He was only able to watch in horror as it bit down on Pantherkit...

...With one final blow the fox takes off into the forest, a single bark echoing through the forest as it ran, leaving Fish alone...

Fish watches only for a second as the Fox retreats into the forest, the small sense of relief he felt being crushed as he sees the now-bloodied Pantherkit.

"No... no, no, no, no, no," he says, stumbling over to the kit, dread taking him as he saw no response, "no, please no...," he stops at its side, reaching out with a shaking paw and putting it to its side, "Please... don't be...," he waits a moment, guilt taking him as he felt no heartbeat, nothing but the fading warmth leaving the now dead kit.

"Why...?," he removes his paw taking a stepping back, "Why did you have follow me?," He makes it only a Fox-length from the kit before collapsing, still looking at the body, "Why did you have to be a hero? Why did you have to come back? Why didn't..." -His voice cracks- "Why did I have to be so careless?"

Littlestream had been out on her own going for a walk when she caught the scent of a fox though faint. As she followed it she caught the scent of blood and frowned worry pulling her forward just in time to see the scene before her. Pantherkit laying where he was his neck torn open from a fox and her gaze looked to the rouge whom whas a few tail-lengths away. She bristled ever so slightly regardless if he helped or not he was on Riverclan territory"You need to leave "She growled lowly making her way over to the deceased kit. She sniffed him catching the scent of fox and closed her eyes for a moment"you shouldn't have left camp."she said softly grief pulling at the young worry for the lost life of a clanmate. She looked to Fish one last times before she picked up Pantherkit's body slowly"You need to leave Riverclan territory this is last it will be said"she mewed her voice thick with greif. Taking the little kit she made her way back to camp.

His stare was still fixated on the kits body as she padded over, her words meaningless and unregistered, with his still staring at the body even as the she-cat picked it up and padded off. Staring until they were out of sight.

"That's it?" He asks no-one in particular, voice dry and coarse, as he still stared at the place he lost sight of them.

He starts chuckling, at first dry, emotionless, and quiet. Yet as he did it became louder and louder, before it was a loud cackle scaring away birds and scattering prey.

"That's it?!" -He says inbetween cackles- "I get a kit killed and that's it!?" His laughs harder, the laugh starting to become laced with grief. "No punishment? No foul? Nothing?", he laughs start to become weaved with sobs as realization takes him over, "No... Justice?"

His cackles break down, only sobs of grief and remorse remaining.

"Nothing. Just a world with no real justice, no natural code." He says, getting to his paws "Be a murderer if you like" he says sarcastically "... nothing will stop you."

He shakily gets to his paws, the blood now dry on his paws and wounds long ago clotted as he pads away from the scene.

"Nothing but yourself..." He says, a weak laugh following his words, a small hint of a returning humor inside.

He made a resolve that moment, padding towards the border, the massive fourtress in sight.

If this world possessed no true code, if the atrocity he committed is to go unpunished, then he would make his own. One unlike the bickering clans, warring between eachother and slaughtering their own. One of his own design, of preserving life, yet bringing justice. Of being kind, yet allowing to survive. Simple rules, able to allow him fun, yet take action, to be free, yet not cruel.

After all, he doesn't really have much else to do...


OOC: And thats the end of Fish in this Plot.
