Mind Your Own Business... PART TWO![Closed]

Flamewish had no idea of the irony that was about to be sprung on her. It had started out innocent enough, hunting near the Gorge, and unknowingly crossed it at the same spot Barleypaw had those moons ago, pouncing on the mouse. She wasn't ready for what was about to come.

Barleytuft relished in the breeze on the moor; whatever weird lighting the missing sun and moon had cast on the earth had not changed the fresh, clear scent of his home. The sandy tom was out on a run, though he would tell anyone else that he was hunting. He found himself near the gorge and thought of his fight with the RiverClan she-cat ages ago, wondering how she had gotten on. As if the absent StarClan had set them on each other's paths, Barleytuft spotted an intruder on his territory, and watched them as they pounced on prey.

Not during these times! Barleytuft thought, and he launched himself through the air to land nimbly just before the she-cat, puffing out his chest and growling, "You're trespassing and stealing prey from our territory! What are y--" He broke off and took a hesitant step back as he recognized the flaming pelt and even more scorching gaze. "It's you! Flamepaw?"

Flamewish was just as surprised. "Yeah, but it's Flamewish- wait, Barleypaw!?" She looked around. "Oh dear, it looks like I am on Windclan territory." She shifted her gaze back to him. "I assume we have to fight now, just to make it even." She began to act, trying to be silly and lighten the mood in the dreary, dim times. "Mouse brain, mark the border better!" She repeated playfully, while tackling him. That was about what he had said their first battle.

Barleytuft puffed out his chest and replied, feeling relieved that she recognized him and wasn't hostile, "Actually, it's Barleytuft now." What a cool name, he thought. When the RiverClan warrior realized where she was, Barleytuft was pleased that she recognized it. A gleam of challenge flickered in her eyes as she suggested they fight, and Barleytuft wondered for a moment if she were angry about before. Her laughing tone as she teased him let him know that all was forgotten.

But there was a rematch to be had.

Barleytuft fell limply beneath her, grappling his claws into her shoulders as they both rolled over and over. He kicked his paws into her belly and hissed playfully, hoping that his joking didn't come across as offensive, "Maybe if you could smell anything other than fish you'd have scented it!"

Flamewish clawed back, being sure to make them shallow and barely bleed if at all. She couldn't help but half grin as she snarled back, "And if you smelled anything but rabbits you'd notice you needed to mark it."

Barleytuft couldn't help but laugh despite the stinging of her paws in his belly. He remembered the last time the two of them had fought. Then, they had shown such ferocity in defending their territory; he had felt the wounds she left for almost a moon after that. This time, however, though they still fought as they might've fought a foe they also fought with gentler swipes meant to stun and show off rather than to harm and make scars.

They had both become warriors since their last battle, Barleytuft realized. I wonder if they teach this move in RiverClan, he thought as he reared up on his hind legs and batted wildly at her ears, neck, and shoulders - he didn't want to accidentally catch her eyes. He kept his paws sheathed, but his paws battered her down ferociously before he dropped down onto all fours again.

Barleytuft nodded, trying to duck and dodge her strikes as much as he could, and replied, "Oof - obviously you've learned things too!" But he had more moves to try. He was having fun showing off. The sandy tom rolled onto his back and flung himself underneath Flamewish's belly, pummeling hard at her underbelly before nimbly diving out to his paws again.

"Oooh, I haven't quite gotten that one down yet." She said with intrest. She'd probably been a warrior for less time than Barleytuft- she didn't know his background but it was unlikely that he was in Windclan because he murdered somebody.

Barleytuft had been pleased when his move had hit, and for a brief moment he considered trying to teach the move to her, but he knew that it would be disloyal to help a Clan - especially an "enemy" Clan - learn to fight. Besides, Flamewish quickly reminded him that she wasn't easily beaten. He failed to move out of the RiverClan warrior's reach as she leaped at him. He collapsed with a thud underneath her, scrambling to escape. "Just like a RiverClan cat to throw their weight around," Barleytuft teased.

Barleytuft had to laugh at that, though he barely had the breath to do so after their wrestling. She wasn't entirely wrong, but he wasn't going to let that bother him. He flipped over underneath her and dug his paws upward into her belly again, flinging the she-cat off of him after some well-aimed kicks. The sandy tom heaved himself to his paws and turned to face her where she had landed, watching for her to get up as he panted.
