Beekit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!" Leopardstar's rumbling voice echoed against the stone walls of the ravine as he once again stood in for Marshstorm, to promote yet another of Blizzardshine's many kits. Though he had not spent much time recently with his former leader, he had watched the happy family at play from the sidelines and was overjoyed for her good fortune. Still...the sight of happy kits bouncing around a loving mother made a certain part of his heart ache furiously. So many of his beloved children now ran with the stars...and it had sunk in just how long ago those simple, happy times with them had been. He couldn't help the long sigh that escaped his mouth as he waited for the clan to gather but didn't dwell on the thoughts for too long. There was work to be done.

Beekit trotted up to sit down, making sure he got his favorite spot. Now what was going on- another boring ceremony or an exciting announcement?

Once a sizable crowd had gathered in the clearing below - including the cat of honor - Leopardstar called for silence.  "Today, we will be welcoming yet another kit into the ranks of the apprentices.  Beekit, please step forward."  His gaze falling to where the young son of Blizzardshine sat listening, the leader smiled as he waited for him to emerge from the crowd.

Beekit grinned. It was neither. This time, it was his ceremony! He stepped up.

Blizzardshine looked at her kit with pride, her fur rising lightly and making her look even bigger than she already was and tail held high. She couldn’t help but wonder who his mentor would be and hoped they could train him well.

Leopardstar watched as the small bi-colored tom made his way to the front of the crowd, before beginning the ceremony.  "Beekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed.  From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Beepaw. Your mentor will be Dustcloud.  She is an experienced warrior, and has successfully trained many apprentices in her lifetime; I am confident that she will pass down all she knows on to you."

The newly-named Beepaw turned around to look for Dustcloud. Ah. That one. The grey one who was cool and battle-scarred. He didn't know her, but he bet she was super tough and stuff!
