Softkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep hopped up onto the Tallrock with a proud twinkle in his amber gaze. A kit was going to be apprenticed today! They will begin their training to soon become a warrior Windclan would be very proud of. The brown tom's face morphed to a serious one before he continued. He couldn't completely vanish his excitement. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Softkit padded forward with her head high, though she nearly stumbled. She was nervous. Softkit had grown mostly accustomed to Clan ways, but still had a lot to learn. One of the older cats had given her a quick guide to how her ceremony would work, but was still a little shaky. Who would her mentor be? Would they like her? Or would they hate her for being the mysterious outsider?

The brown tom gazed down at young Softkit with a pleased gaze before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Rockkit, please step forward." Once the she-kit had done so, the deputy nodded approvingly with a small smile and then began to speak again, "Softkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Softpaw. Thornleap will be your mentor. He's quite a new warrior but I know that he will pass down everything he knows on to you."

Thornleap lifted his lip in a sneer of disdain. His first apprentice was an outsider. Windclan really was going to the dogs.
The tall warrior stepped forward, eyeing the fluffy white apprentice like a bird of prey watching a mouse. "Training starts at Sunrise. I expect you to be waiting for me by the entrance to camp." He wouldn't tolerate any of her kittypet weakness. He'd find a way to turn her into a strong warrior, even if it took him a thousand moons to do so.
