Considering that it was early, it was colder than it would normally be later in the day. Newtpaw padded out onto the territory and inhaled softly as a winter breeze whisked itself through the air and gave him a chill. The snow on the ground crunched underneath his pads, and he had to remind himself to step lightly so that he wouldn't scare away any prey that was nearby... that would be a rookie mistake and Newtpaw wasn't ready to be scolded for a kit mistake. The tom had come out here with Rosepaw who had invited him to come hunting in the first place... and Newtpaw had decided to just play along and accept the request. The extrovert in him was longing to be around other cats, so a bit of him was pleased that he had something to do and someone to do it with. However, everyone had an inner introvert, and the other half of Newtpaw was longing to go back to staring at the sunrise as it splattered the sky with various colors in a way that was sloppy, neat, and beautiful. Maybe he could do that again tomorrow... well, that was only if he wanted to wake up that early, and if he didn't have to go on a patrol. As usual, his silent thoughts were carrying the ShadowClan apprentice away again, and he paused to let Rosepaw catch up with him. That was who he was hunting with, after all.

Rosepaw noticed that he was getting faster and faster until she saw he was thinking. She smiled at him and quickened her pace only slowing down when he found out he was going fast. She sniffed the air and caught many scents but the one that truly called her was the smell of a flower. She knew that flowers where rare in leaf-bare so she headed towards the scent forgetting to tell newtpaw where she was going. She smiled at the flower when she saw it and picked it. She knew he might be worried so she walked back the way she came and followed his tracks. When she saw him she bounded up to him and smiled with the flower. "look what I found. Do you want it?" she asked the tom.

The smell of a flower suddenly filled Newtpaw's nose, and he looked over in Rosepaw's direction curiously. Once he saw that she was carrying the flower, his formerly hard gaze melted into a softer expression. Obviously, this cat was just trying to befriend him. While Newtpaw wasn't going to act like a helpless kit in response, he wasn't going to act like a grumpy elder, either. A smile slowly grew on his speckled muzzle.
"Wow, Rosepaw, you have a good nice if you can smell that in the middle of all this snow and prey scent." Newtpaw praised the she-cat.
He took the flower from out of the she-cat's jaws and continued to grin.
"I'm gonna bury it right here so I can come back and get it once we're done hunting." The tom told her as he gently dropped the flower into the fluffy snow and covered it with another layer so it was completely blanketed with a thick sheet of white.

She smiled at his compliment. "ya my parents named me rose because I could easily smell flowers in the nursery." she said smiling. She watched him bury it with snow. "if you need help finding it again I can help." she said smiling. She kept walking with him until he found a spot for them to hunt.

The tom nodded at her gratefully. With a small shrug, the tom thought that maybe Rosepaw wasn't that bad. He made sure that the she-cat was with him as he padded farther out into the territory to find a nice spot to hunt. The calico apprentice paused once he decided on a spot. It still had snow, but it wasn't in huge, heavy mounds. Plus, Newtpaw could already smell prey in this area. The scents made his paws twitch with anticipation. He was ready to hunt something and bring it back to the Clan for food.
"Okay, then. We'll start here, it seems like a nice enough spot to hunt. Let's split up a bit so our scents aren't too strong, we don't want the prey to know that we're coming, after all. We can meet up back here with our catches once we're done."
Newtpaw looked over at Rosepaw after he was finished speaking just so that he could confirm the plan with the other apprentice before they both headed off to hunt.

Rosepaw listened to him speak. "ok I'll be here when I catch three because that's all I can carry." she said smiling. She left her almost new friend and went to search for prey. She smelled the air and caught the scent of rabbit. She stalked the white creature until she was close enough then pounced. She pounced directly on it and killed it with one bite. She buried it under the snow and set off for more. But before she could a badger came out of nowhere and snarled at her. She didn't want to start a fight but the badger tried to dig up her prey and she got made. She ran at the badger and attacked. Then yelled for newtpaw. "newtpaw there is a badger come quick." she yelled out.

Newtpaw flicked his ear in acknowledgment of Rosepaw's words, and he padded off in the opposite direction. He was unaware of the predator that was apparently lurking around in this area, ready to strike and rip apart a Clan cat. He still couldn't smell a predator, just prey, and that made him oblivious to the upcoming danger. That's when he heard a noise, and he felt his neck fur begin to bristle. Small prey wouldn't make a noise that... big. He slowly began to back up, but he unsheathed his claws as he did so. He didn't want to call for Rosepaw, because whatever was out there may hear him and take that as a chance to attack either him or the other apprentice.

Rosepaw backed away after yelling for him. She needed to keep the badger occupied if newtpaw was going to do a surprise attack. She hissed at the creature then pounced on it taking her claws on its belly.

The fox was mad but the attacks only tickled so he didn't do anything just from amusement

Newtpaw yelped as the fox emerged. He honestly didn't care if he had scared off the prey that was left around. It was either stay quiet, or fight off this fox, and getting rid of the fox was far more important right now. The calico apprentice darted around the other side of the predator so that it wouldn't see him. The element of surprise was always a smart tactic with both rival Clan cats and predators. He crouched for about a heartbeat, and then he sprung out of his temporary hiding spot. He landed on top of the fox, and he held the creature down with all the strength he could muster.

Newtpaw growled as he tried to keep down the fox, and he sank his claws into the animal and watched as he successfully began to both draw blood and hold the creature down. He looked up at Rosepaw, frowning, "I don't know why!"

Newtpaw leaped off of the fox once it finally managed to wriggle itself free. He landed beside Rosepaw and bared his teeth at the creature. The she-cat's words echoed in his ears.
'to show how good we are.'
His eyes flickered with desire and perhaps even greed. He'd be treated like a hero! Newtpaw, the slayer of the fox. Oh, right, Rosepaw was there, too. Newtpaw and Rosepaw, the slayers of the fox! His fantasies of longing made his eyes glitter and adrenaline rushed through his veins. He looked over at Rosepaw, and his voice was oddly serious all of the sudden, "Yeah. Let's do it."
Without waiting for a reply, the calico tom shot forwards and tackled the predator with fury in his eyes.
