A soot, a cinder, a night

Nightfoot left the nursery, her head held high. She had only barely become a warrior and she now found herself with a small kit to take care of! She had just woken Cinderkit up from the nursery to explore, and was excited to see what the kit would think.

Sootcloud woke from the warrior den, alive and full of energy. He thought he might join a patrol, but then he saw his sister sitting expectantly outside of the nursery. Was her adopted son coming out for the first time? He bounded over to his sister, and sat down with her.

Cinderkit was napping when he was woken up my his adopted mother Nightfoot. He stood up slowly with a yawn and stretched before slowly following behind her. When he left the nursery he saw another cat sitting with her. With another yawn he looked at both of they cats and let out a soft "Hello."

Nightfoot smiled at the small kit. "Hi sleepy head!" She meowed playfully, "Would you like to explore?"

Sootcloud smiled at the young kit. Cinderkit! His nephew!

Cinderkit let out one last large yawn and stretched his legs. He looked around the camp and then back at the two warriors. "Yeah lets explore!" He mewed with a new found enthusiasm.

Nightfoot smiled again. The small black tom was not her biological child, but with his black fur, and one blue eye, they looked very similar. She started by saying, "So, the dens are around here, and this whole camp is in a hollow in the marsh. The bramble wall encircles it." She flickered her tail at the places she spoke of and then added, "But look around for yourself. I'll be right behind you."

Sootcloud just nodded, getting up and following his sister. He couldn't believe how much she had changed. Less than a moon ago, she was a sassy, lazy, and superior acting she-cat. Now, she was a mother. He supposed that the dog attack and her warrior ceremony probably had something to do with it, but he knew he would never fully understand his sister.

Rowantalon purred as he approached the small family. "Good morning, Nightfoot, Sootcloud." He mewed cheerfully. The I'm felt quite relaxed- his last two litters of three and five were a handful, and he was glad that his current litter of one was quite a step down from that.

"Who might you be?" He churruped, grinning to the tiny kit that sat between the two siblings.

Cinderkit gazed around the camp, wondering where to explore first. Just when he was about to get up another warrior joined them. Since he didn't know this warrior he was a little wary about his presence, but he seemed nice enough to Cinderkit. Standing up he looked at the warrior, "I'm Cinderkit." He mewed proudly. He looked over at Sootcloud and Nightfoot almost waiting to find out who this warrior was.
