Emberkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Crowstar called out to his clan, "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Emberkit was in the nursery when he heard Crowstar's call. "Mom!" He leapt from his nest, stumbling over a sleeping den-mate. "My ceremony!" He had been hoping today would be the day he finally became an apprentice--he knew that some cats doubted his ability to hunt and fight effectively without sight, and he was more than ready to prove them wrong. So, he left the nursery, and followed the sound of the growing crowd of cats.

When the little blind tom bounded into the clearing, Rippedsky knew it was just about time to begin. The deputy didn't have doubts about the kit. His own mate was blind and had become an impressive warrior and mother. A purr rumbled in his chest as he saw how excited the soon to be apprentice was. Casting one quick glance over the camp, he decided it was time to begin. His piercing blue eyes fixed on the unseeing kit, "We gather here today to name another new apprentice. Emberkit has reached the age of six moons and is now ready to begin his training." He paused to allow the excited murmers to ripple through camp. Although, the tom was sure there were a few questioning ones. Not every cat believed blind cats could accomplish much.

"Emberkit, from this day until you receive you warrior name, you will be known as Emberpaw. Cloverleaf will be your mentor. I expect she will pass on all of her wisdom to you." With a final nod, he leaped down to greet the new apprentice.
