Wandering (Open)

It was late when Leafpaw arrived again at Fourtrees. Since the Windclan-Apprentice fiasco he had tried to steer clear of this place.
He didn't know how he ended up here, it felt like the right place to be. He yawned- it was late and most of the cats in his clan were asleep. He shivered slightly as a cool breeze brushed through his fur and looked up. The trees had faded into nothing but black silhouettes, framing the night sky. The apprentice didn't usually like the dark, but he couldn't help admiring Silverpelt's beauty.

Sleep was something that Rookpaw couldn't get that night. To him, he found it useless to remain curled up in his nest without getting any sort of rest, and he didn't want to do anything accidental that would awaken the other apprentices. So, after having a silent battle with himself on whether or not he should go out of camp or stay in the apprentice den, he had finally come to the conclusion of leaving for a bit. Perhaps a walk would make him tired. The black tom had wandered around ThunderClan's territory, not bothering to try and catch any prey, and his paws had ended up leading him straight towards Fourtrees. He had hoped that no other cat would be there. What were the chances that another Clan cat, or even a cat from his Clan, would be at this clearing at the same time as him? As he padded up to the edge of Fourtrees, he realized that the chances had been high. He lifted his nose slightly, letting the mingled scents of all five Clans flood his nostrils. However, on top of the stale scent of the Clans, he could smell the fresh scent of WindClan. Rookpaw glanced over at the apprentice in the clearing, blinking a couple of times.
That's just great... Rookpaw thought, shaking his head, slowly. He padded forwards, not even bothering to stop the black fur on the back of his neck from rising out of wariness. He only stopped when he was close enough to the tom to speak to him and be heard without having to yell.
"What's a WindClan cat doing here?" He asked, his voice tainted with carefulness.

Leafpaw turned around. "Windclan?" He mewed. "I'm a Thunderclan cat."
The tom sat down gracefully. "Why are you out here, anyway?"

Bat crept along, light-footed like a rabbit and ears low, he carried marigold and burdock ​root in his maw. Creeping into the 'safety' of Fourtrees, he was baffled with the sight of others, clans usually didn't come a this time. The skinny cat kept his face blank the way he did in the twolegplace, only Barn Cats knew he was capable of emotion. That and the kits he had saved here in this very spot moons ago, Crowstar's daughter had hurt herself as a kit and he stayed in the snow with her until he found her camp, returning the she-kit. He knew this was bad despite his rather clean reputation, Barn Cats were going to be considered followers of Bear for generations of clan cats, not the peaceful cats he knew. His worry turned agitated, if they gave him a problem, he'd put out facts. If that didn't work, he'd simply continue on with his herb collecting.

Oakpaw had laid in the den, eyes closed but sleepless. His sides rose and fell slowly, as if he was asleep, but when two other cats from his den left, he decided he may as well join them. He waited for a little while before he got to his paws, picking his way out of the den and out of camp.

The moon was bright and flooded him with a sense of safety. He turned his face up towards the sky, silently counting stars as he walked along. He didn't know where his paws would lead him, but.. he found himself at Fourtrees, and he found that he wasn't alone.

[color=goldenrod]"Hello,"[color] he mewed, careful to keep his voice low for fear of another cat appearing out of the darkness. "I guess everyone's having trouble sleeping," he laughed good-naturedly as he slowly padded down into the clearing.

Rookpaw was off to such an amazing start, not even recognizing an apprentice from his own Clan. He inwardly cringed at his own stupidity but attempted to stay calm on the outside. The black tom must've gotten the scent mixed up with the stale WindClan scent that lingered in the air from Gatherings that had taken place in the past. Slowly and politely, he dipped his head in an apology.
"Ah, my apologies," The tom began awkwardly, looking back up at Leafpaw, "My mistake."
Still a bit on edge, Rookpaw continued to stand inside of copying Leafpaw in sitting down, "I couldn't get any sleep, but I guess that's-"
He abruptly stopped speaking when Oakpaw joined the two of them, and he nodded at the ThunderClan tom in greeting. This time he wasn't going to mess up which Clan he came from. Subtly lifting his nose, he let the fresh ThunderClan scent coming from Oakpaw reassure him that no rivals would be out tonight.
Except for the rogue that Rookpaw was still unaware of...

The tom took a deep breath of night air, the sweet scent drowning out most of the other scents. The only thing he could still smell was something new... something strange. "Do you smell that?" The apprentice mewed to his companions. "Is that a herb or something?"
