Raccoonpaw's Assessment [Closed]

Clearly she disturbed the wrong tree, because she heard some angry noise. Forgetting about the lizard that just slipped through her paws she looked up to see an Owl coming out of the tree, it's talons extended to get her.. Great Starclan she didn't have time to deal with this! Her fur started fluffing up at the sign of danger, but she could deal with this.

Raccoonpaw let out a small hist at the hit to her. She could feel blood welling up on her muzzle but it only fueled her anger. She let out a growl as she lashed out at the owl.

Mottleheart watched as Raccoonpaw gave him a short nod before darting off, quickly following after her while keeping a good distance away as not to bring attention to himself or get in her way. He watched as she quickly found a rabbit only to miss it as it got away, causing him to frown slightly. He was sure that Raccoonpaw could make it up. Next was a hare, noting how his daughter made sure everything was in place before making a run at it and managed to kill it. A purr rose in his throat, watching as she buried the hare before heading off. It didn't take long before a bird landed not far from Raccoonpaw only to miss when it quickly took off. He frowned, perhaps even worried but he shook it off before watching her take down a hare. It had been a risky attack - the hare had been right outside of its hole but with a surge of pride he watched as she took down the hare and buried it. Perhaps things would be in Raccoonpaw's favor from here on out.

He had thought that simple thought a bit to soon.

Mottleheart watched as Raccoonpaw found herself near one of the few trees that were dotted around the moor and seemed to have notice something. He couldn't make out what she had lunged at but he certainly saw what happened next. A flash of feathers and he watched in horror as an owl swooped down to attack his daughter. And for a second, he couldn't move. Fear rooted him to the spot as the fate memories of this fight with the eagle came to the surface. His breath quicken but he quickly shoved down that fear as he charged down the hill. Nobody was going to bring harm to his little warrior. With a yowl, he leaped at the owl with claws outstretched and sent the two of them crashing to the ground. His claws dug into the wings of the owl as he pinned it to the ground, his tail lashing as he bit down as hard as he could onto the owl's wing. He didn't care what Raccoonpaw thought of him coming to her recuse - he wasn't just going to stand by.

Mottleheart used Leap-and-hold on the owl, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina. The owl is stunned for 2 turns.

Raccoonpaw knew that shouldn't be able to take on the owl by herself. The owl was much stronger than she was, but she didn't want to give that away. She knew her father was watching but she was unsure if her father was going to sit and watch or help her. So it startled her a bit when her father let out a yowl and came to her aid. Now she had a chance. She was relieved.

Now she could deal with the owl. Since her father was holding onto it she could get to it's soft belly.

Mottleheart was aware when his daughter leaped in next to him to get at the underbelly of the owl he had revealed as he pinned it to the ground but he didn't make any movement to acknowledge - all his effort remained on pinning the owl to the ground so that it couldn't get off any attacks. He teeth remained deep in the owl's wing but used his claws to deal more damage, feeling the soft feathers beneath them getting soaked with blood. Perhaps Raccoonpaw only had two pieces of prey so far - but Mottleheart decided that if they managed to kill this owl, he would happily count it as the last two pieces left.

She could see the owl getting weaker but they still have to do more work on the owl. She wanted to kill this thing. The Apprentice lashed out at the owl with her claws. They needed to get back to camp soon. She had to kill this thing.

The owl indeed was getting weaker, Mottleheart could tell as his claws dug deep into the owl's flesh. He finally released the bite he had on the wings, spitting out the blood that had filled his mouth from such a gruesome bite. He shifted his weight on the owl, letting up just slightly as the bird wasn't giving much of a fight anymore and he glanced at his daughter. It was her assessment, the honor fell upon her to do the final blow.

Raccoonpaw let out a growl as it attacked her dad. She would kill that thing for that. The small apprentice lept forward using a front paw strike and killing the owl with her final blow. After the owl laid still on the ground, the panting apprentice looked up at her dad. "I still need to catch two more.." She said.

Mottleheart let out a sharp hiss as pain lashed down his leg as the owl got a lucky hit on it. He backed off as Raccoonpaw killed it, glancing at his fresh wound. Luckily it wasn't deep as the owl had been near death, it wouldn't be much effort for Beetlepaw to patch it up. But still, the wound stung rather badly. His ears perked up as his daughter spoke, before shaking his head. "Don't worry about those two pieces, Raccoonpaw," he said as he glanced at the still owl that had caused them so much trouble. "I think that owl more then makes up for it...Besides, we should both get to Beetlepaw so he can patch us up," he said with a faint smile. He padded over to the owl, gently poking at its still warm body with his paw. "Once we get this back to camp and Beetlepaw takes care of us, I'll inform Ashstar that you are ready. Not only are we bringing back three pieces of prey but you have proved yourself against an opponent...I say you are more then worthy to be a warrior," he purred before taking the owl in his jaws. With a flicker of his tail, he turned and led Raccoonpaw in the direction she had hidden her previous two catches. After collecting those, he led his daughter back to the WindClan camp with a glimmer in his eyes. His beloved daughter was going to be a warrior.
