Raccoonpaw's Assessment [Closed]

It was time. Mottleheart sat in the middle of the camp, his gaze locked on the apprentice den as he waited for his daughter. It had taken much hard work but he had finished her training the best he could and now he saw her fit for her assessment. It was an exciting day to say the least as he had little doubt that his little warrior would finally be a warrior within no time at all. His tail flickered with slight impatience for Raccoonpaw to get her name but he couldn't deny how happy he was to play such a key part in her training. He was sure that she would make him and all of WindClan proud as a warrior.

Raccoonpaw was excited. She was almost done with her training! Just a few more things and then she would get her warrior name! She would be a warrior at last! She was excited, but she had to pass this next thing. It was time for her assessment. She knew she would pass but you could never be too careful. She padded out of the den and met with her father.

Mottleheart's face lit up as he saw his daughter step from the den, quickly getting to his paws as he nodded his head in a silent greeting. It seemed so odd to think that she was about to get her warrior name...It seemed like only a few moons ago she was just a little kit playing at his paws. He sighed wistfully at how quickly time had flown but now wasn't the time to dwell on lost moments - it was all about Raccoonpaw. "Come along," he said as he turned and padded from the camp.

Raccoonpaw blinked, but she didn't question it. She nodded and followed her father outside of the camp Hopefully her assessment wouldn't be too hard, but even so, she would do it no matter the difficulty.

It didn't take them long to arrive at the locate Mottleheart had decided for the assessment - the same clearing that they had done their previous hunting in. He tasted the air, satisfied with the scent of prey still strong before he turned to look at his daughter with a smile. "For your assessment I want you to catch four pieces of prey by sunhigh," he said, glancing at the sky. The sun was just peaking on the horizon and so he had no doubt that Raccoonpaw could catch those four pieces of prey before the time limit. "Any prey will do," he continued as he returned his gaze to his daughter. "I will be watching your progress throughout the assessment and judging how you are doing. Once you catch those four pieces, we will head back to the camp and I will inform Ashstar that you are ready for your ceremony," he purred before sparing on more glance at the sky. "Ready? Start."

Four pieces? That was more than the other day.. but she could do it. She nodded at her father before, turning and heading off in the direction she took the other day to catch that rabbit. She didn't expect a there to be a rabbit in the same place, but she was sure one would be near by. The brown and white apprentice focused on the scents, finally getting one of a rabbit. Following it she found the animal and hunted it down.

And of course she missed her first one.. Of course.. How embarrassing.. The little apprentice let out a growl and moved on.

The apprentice shook out her fur, and walked to another area. Hopefully this would go better this time. She scented another hare in the area. Following that scent she soon found the brown creature. She double checked everything before taking off after the hare to catch it.

This time she managed to catch it. Hopefully things would start going her way the whole time. She quickly buried the hare before moving on.

While hares and rabbits were their main source of food didn't she need to show she knew how to catch other types too? She took off in another direction, keeping scents in mind. She was going to go after another hare, but a bird flew down basically right in front of her nose. She couldn't pass this up. Crouching low she stalked the bird before springing forward to catch it.

Another miss! In just a few days too! Man birds were not her strong suit.. Oh well back to the hare. She would be able to catch that one. She just knew it!

Raccoonpaw followed the scent of the hare. The small animal was poking its head out of it's small rabbit hole. It's little nose twitched as it checked the air, and slowly came out of the hole. She smirked as she laid waiting for the animal to get further away. She could catch this one. Quickly she jumped after the rabbit.

She didn't even have to run after this one. She caught it with ease. She quickly buried it, feeling a bit smugness burn in her after such an easy catch. Only two more to go, and she still had time.

The small apprentice took a small break for a moment, under the shade of the tree. Only two more to go. She lifted her head at the small sound of something moving on the tree. Her green eyes caught sight of a lizard near by. It wasn't anyone's favorite that she knew of, but it was still food! She waited for the lizard to get lower before springing.
