Whitepaw's Assessment [Closed]

Amberpelt sat just outside of the apprentice den as she waited for Whitepaw, her tail twitching in excitement. Perhaps it wasn't her assessment but she couldn't deny how exciting it was that her first apprentice was almost already a warrior. Just an assessment to go and she would then speak to Fishstar to inform her of Whitepaw being ready. There was a surge of pride already flooding though Amberpelt, sure that her apprentice would do just fine on her final test.

This was it. This was the most important event in the clan cat´s live. Even apprentice ceremony is not so important. Whitepaw was so tense, because after this, Amberpelt would go to the Fishstar and talk with him about her, Whitepaw. About a rank of a warrior.
She walked slowly and silently out  of the den, because some younger apprentices and even some older cats, which didn´t earn a warrior name yet. Then she steped out of the den and saw that sky was still dark and sun didn´t shined like all other mornings when she had training. So she figured out that it is earlier. She came closer to Amberpelt and silently greeted her.

Amberpelt glanced to the side as Whitepaw stepped from the apprentice den, happy to see that the apprentice was awake early for this. It was a simple thing to make sure that she had even more time for her assessment but Amberpelt had doubts that Whitepaw would need this extra time at all. "There you are," she purred happily in greeting to the white apprentice as she got to her paws, dipping her head. "Come along, we will be doing your assessment near the ThunderClan border," she explained as she turned and padded from the camp. It was a bit of a walk but Amberpelt wanted to give Whitepaw the option of hunting on both land or water if she so desired.

Whitepaw noded and tried to made a smile on her lips. She was happy inside her, because of very important day. But there was also a fear, which was also connected with this day. She feared that something could happened and destroyed her favourite day.

It took a while but finally they arrived and Amberpelt came to a stop. The sun was just peaking on the horizon, casting the sky in a faint crimson glow and giving the few clouds a pinkish hue. It was beautiful and part of Amberpelt wanted to admire it and forgo the assessment completel but today wasn't about her - no it was about Whitepaw. She shook her head as she turned to look at her apprentice with a wave of her fluffy tail. "The rules of this assessment is simple. You have until the Sunhigh to catch four pieces of prey. Any prey will do, let it be fish or a land based prey. I'll be watching this assessment from the reeds even if you may not see me and once you catch those four prey, I will go to Fishstar and tell her that you are ready for your ceremony. Alright?" She paused for a few seconds before she waved her tail in a signal to start. "Begin." She stated before turning and stalking the way they came. She walked until she was sure she was out of Whitepaw's sight before backtracking to where she had left her apprentice, this time staying hidden behind reeds to watch her apprentice's progress.i

OOC: Assessments are used to make sure you understand the hunting system as the system is required for theses unlike other hunting patrols. Every post you must try to make a catch, one at a time while I will post between each attempt having Amberpelt monitoring Whitepaw's progress. Once you reach your four catches, the assessment is complete and I will inform Fish that Whitepaw has met all of their requirements and that she is ready to become a warrior.

Pick whatever prey you want to catch but if a 10 is rolled, we will still have to fight but depending on the progress made, I may call the assessment good as well. Simply put, if you are unlucky and roll a 10 on the first attempt we may have to retry this but if you have caught most of your prey and roll a ten on the last attempt, I will call the assessment complete enough to count for the requirement.

Whitepaw started her assessment. She leaved Amberpelt alone and stoped for a moment. Now was the time for her nose and ears. She listened for some noises, which would lead her to the prey. But there were not any sounds. Just morning bird singing. She could tried to catch one of those, but she didn't want to start like this. There were four pieces of prey needed and Whitepaw had planned that she would caught fish for a last turn. It was morning and prey on a land is awaking and searching for their food. Perfect time for hunting.
Then she smelled something!
It was a smeal of a frog. Yes! Whitepaw sniffed again and located lazy frog. It was some metres away from Whitepaw, waiting to be killed. It was just morning and reptiles need sun light so they can do usual things. The frog was probably on some stone, on which was sun shining. This would be a nice catch.
Whitepaw steped some steps closer and then jumped. The toad didn´t even dare to move and Whitepaw killed it at once. Then she put prey into the hole.

OCC: I hope that I can do two catches and then you post something?

Whitepaw was very happy. Assessment began perfect and only three more pieces of prey to go. She came closer to the border between ThunderClan and RiverClan. She hoped that no one will disturbed her assessment and attacked her. But she knew that Amberpelt was always near her and was watching over and intterupter. She focused on hunting again. This was only the beggining.
She smelled and heard some noises ten metres away from her. Noises came from the tall grass behind the tree, which was giving shadow on the grass. Whitepaw came closer and suddenly figured out that rabbit is hiding in the grass. She steped closer again and jumped on the rabbit. Poor creature tried to escape but claws were already in it. Second catch. The day was perfect.

OOC: Normally you just want to do one post between but I'll allow it. There are a few people who just keep posting, not waiting for their mentor to post in between, until they complete their assessment so I suppose this is fine.

IC: Amberpelt watched with careful eyes, her ears perking with interest when she noticed that Whitepaw had decided not to go for the easy catch of fish first. Instead, she followed her apprentice as the white she-cat hunted for land prey first. It was an interesting choice, she was sure most apprentices would go for the easy route, after all Amberpelt had simply said four prey of any kind. The option for Whitepaw to just catch four fishes easily was there.

But no, Amberpelt watched with great interest as Whitepaw found a lazy frog and easily killed it before hiding it away before tracking down a rabbit. For a second, Amberpelt wasn't sure if she believed that Whitepaw would be able to catch the rabbit - WindClan cats were built for it with their skill of speed but found herself pleasantly surprised when Whitepaw managed to sneak up on it and kill it. Already, Whitepaw was half way done. Amberpelt felt a great surge of pride as she watched her apprentice from the reeds. She had no doubt she would be telling Fishstar that Whitepaw was ready for their warrior name.

Then she continued. She already had a blood in and on her mouth and she was feeling terribly hungry. But this event was more important than ordinary hunger and she continued trying to thought only on hunting mission. In her plan was to kill something other than fish first and for the last piece of prey a fish. She sniffed. There was nothing; she heard a river near her and again some bird singing. But nobody was on the ground. Then something disturbed this beautifull silence. There was a squirell on the tree. She run to the nearest tree on which was squirell waiting and eating some walnuts. Whitepaw tried to be silent and fast. Soon she was on the same branch as squirell. But animal figured out that something bad was happening for her and she tried to escape. Whitepaw blocked squirell´s way and hit her with a paw. Squirell feel down of the tree and laid there for some moments until Whitepaw didn´t end her life. Third catch!

One last piece of prey was waiting for Whitepaw, which was totoaly excited. Assessment was near its end! She focused on hunting again and repeated basic form of hunting. She sniffed and tried to hear something. Bu there was nothing. If she would have waited for something to came out of a den, she would found a living thing. But Whitepaw was nervous and she wanted to end this hunting as soon as possible. She immediately walked to the river and looked into it. There was big amount of fish. Water was not froze and she didn´t have any problems with catching a fish.
She put her paw into a water and waited for some moments. When the water was calm again and fish came closer, she hit and grab a fish. Outside the water she had easy job to do. After some seconds the prey was dead. She had finished an assessment.

There was no hiding the joy in Amberpelt's eyes as she stepped from the reed to meet her apprentice. Not only had Whitepaw caught most of her prey on land - she had done all of it without missing one. There was no doubt that Whitepaw was a skilled hunter and Amberpelt couldn't be prouder. "Well done!" she praised as she padded over to her apprentice, gently leaning down to brush her cheek against Whitepaw's with a purr. "You did amazing Whitepaw! I'll inform Fishstar that you are ready for your ceremony right away. Now come along," she said as she pulled away and glanced down at the fish that Whitepaw had just captured. "We need to go gather the rest of your prey and bring it back to camp." Motioning for Whitepaw to pick up the fish and follow her, she led Whitepaw back in the direction the apprentice had left her other pieces of prey.
