Bone Breaker P2

Blazeflight wobbled into the camp clearing after the seemingly everlasting journey back from the thunderpath. Her chest was aching and only Starclan knew the pain she was enduring. It was hard to breathe, and she was much thankful for Shadewillow and Blacktwig.

If Shadewillow's shoulder ached from supporting Blazeflight all the way back from the Thunderpath, he wouldn't know- the cold fury that was welling up within helped dull the pain greatly. The trio shambled to a halt in the center of the clearing, with Hazeflight close behind- she had helped clear the path for the slow moving group. Looking over at Blacktwig, he gave the Thunderclan tom a brief, curt nod before sweeping his gaze out back towards the camp."Thrushstar! Leopardfang! Honeydrop!" He yowled, tilting his head up to the sky as he yowled, hiding the enraged expression upon his face. "Come quick, Blazeflight is injured!" He added the last part hurriedly- hoping to draw out all of Shadowclan to witness what had happened. "Thankfully Shadowclan knows how to behave, and they'll likely give Blacktwig a fair audience." He thought with a scowl, noting that the Thunderclan cat stuck out like a sore thumb.

Honeydrop sat in the medicine den, tired after a long morning of training Puddlepaw, when she glanced out of the entrance and saw Blazeflight limping into camp, supported by Shadewillow and some... ThunderClan warrior. The newly appointed ShadowClan warrior looked to be in a lot of pain. The medicine cat's well-trained eye ascertained that two of the tabby's ribs were broken. They would have to act quickly.  Grabbing some poppy seeds for the pain, the golden dappled she-cat ran over to the warriors. "Puddlepaw, I need some cobwebs and comfrey root, stat! Oh, and some stinging nettle!" She pushed some poppy seeds in front of the orange tabby. "These'll help with the pain. What in the name of StarClan's ever-loving leaders happened to you? And what's this ThunderClan warrior doing here?" Honeydrop had some guesses, but she didn't want to make assumptions.

Blacktwig's mind bustled with furious thoughts of Emberheart. Oh, she'll get her punishment, alright, he thought tempestuously. He roved into ShadowClan's camp with Blazeflight leaning on him, as well as Shadewillow, the carping young tom, accompanying him. The tangy, pungent scent of ShadowClan eased into his nose. He exchanged a nervous glance with Blazeflight. Do you think they'll glare at me? Of course they will! he mulled tediously. He could feel his pelt prickle with every waking pawstep. A syndicate of qualm and unease washed over him. He wasted no breath; he had a debate with Thrushstar over his very presence. A storm churned in his stomach, but his gaze remained cold. Rage of Emberheart's heinous acts flared up inside of him—but it had come to naught melting his icy outer core. He heard Shadewillow's exasperated yowls, and Honeydrop, the ShadowClan medicine cat, came rushing towards them. "My sister," he growled. "That's what happened." Blacktwig daren't say Emberheart's name—he was too outraged to. He greeted Honeydrop curtly, surprised at the she-cat's docility.

"Shadewillow... perhaps you should? It's your clan." Blacktwig offered, his tone shockingly light. He felt a bit of resentment for his vague response, but he hadn't been able to help it. He was going to have to have a... a chat with Emberheart when he returned to ThunderClan. Yes. A chat.

Larksong was curled up in her nest but the sound of yowling awoke her with a start. Her head suddenly snapped up with a wide eyes, the word 'injured' ringing in her head. It a second she was on her paws, rushing from the den to see what was going on. Her eyes quickly landed on the trio - Shadewillow, Blazeflight...And a ThunderClan warrior? She froze as the scent of the rival Clan washed over her, feeling her pelt prickle but she quickly forced the reaction down. He was out numbered and by the looks of it had helped Shadewillow bring Blazeflight back to the camp.

Forcing herself forward, she weaved around Honeydrop as the medicine cat asked her questions, making sure to linger close to the ThunderClan cat just in case he tried anything but her body was relaxed in an effort to show the tom that she meant no ill will - she wouldn't make the first move against him and she was more then willing to let him leave the camp with little issues. Her eyes flashed to Blazeflight, a worried glint in her eyes like a mother may worry over her kits. It pained her to see her Clanmate hurt like so and dug her claws into the ground as Blazeflight shakily admitted that she didn't recall only for the ThunderClan tom - Blacktwig she supposed -  to speak up, simply leaving Shadewillow to answer. Her gaze quickly snapped to the tom, her gaze burning into him as she waited for answers.



Smokestripe awoke to the same yowl as Larksong, quickly recognizing the voice of his friend. Darting to his paws, he followed after the older she-cat with a flicker of worry. For a second, he felt relief flood though him when he saw that Shadewillow was alright but his blood quickly turned cold upon Blazeflight seeming to wheeze with pain. What had happened? His gaze quickly landed on the cat that stuck out among the three - a ThunderClan warrior. Smokestripe's ears fell flat but he didn't make a move toward the group. He watched as Larksong darted forward but he found himself hurrying off to the side as he watched Honeydrop shout orders and start to care for Blazeflight's legs along with answering the questions that burned in his mind. He kept his mouth shut, blinking away the fear that swelled up inside him. Was Blazeflight going to be alright? Had another Clan done this? Questions rose up in him but they were quickly forced down as Blazeflight spoke up. She...Blacked out? He bit his lip, his gaze quickly shifting to the ThunderClan tom as he spoke up before it finally landed on Shadewillow, his tail flickering nervously as he waited for his friend to speak.

Blacktwig looked at the irascible cats, before they... almost became placid. Their shiftiness indicated their suspicion, and he gave them a lenient glance. "I didn't hurt Blazeflight," he stated defensively, as well as instinctually. He blinked, his vivid eyes soft. His guard didn't fall, though, as his optics bored into the duo of cats'.

Honeydrop started creating a poultice, listening carefully to the warriors. "Careful, Blazeflight, don't hurt yourself. Larksong, would you go get Thrushstar and Leopardfang, please?" She turned to Shadewillow and the ThunderClan warrior. "Tell it to the leader. Now, Shadewillow, what happened? A border skirmish? A monster accident? A badger? If you tell me, I can help better."

Shadewillow felt a wave of relief as Honeydrop appeared, and felt much better now that the Medicine Cat was finally able to treat and look over the injured she-cat. Dipping his head towards Blacktwig, he turned to face the small, gathering crowd of his startled Clanmates, breathing in deeply as he recounted the events as best as he could. "Blazeflight, Hazeflight and myself were out on patrol, Blazeflight was leading us and we were checking the Thunderpath when we encountered a Thunderclan patrol consisting of Blacktwig, Emberheart, and Driftpaw." He launched into the story, twitching his ear in Blacktwig's direction as he spoke, "Pleasantries were initially exchanged between both parties as all was well- neither Clan's scentmarkers were a hair out of place. Then Emberheart started acting incredibly aggressive- going on about how she found a dead rabbit a few moons ago and how her kits were hungry- I don't really know what was causing her to behave that way, her logic was flawed and she kept rambling, but she definitely kept provoking our patrol for no reason- spitting curses and spewing slanderous nonsense," He admitted, still not fully able to piece together what had caused the Thunderclan Queen to behave in such a way.

"At this point, Hazeflight and I became engaged, but although the words we spoke were provoking, it was nothing that hasn't even been said when encountering an enemy patrol. Then Emberheart became enraged and viciously attacked Blazeflight, going on and on about how our Clan has no honor, how we're ignorant bastards, and how some crowfood could of fed her kits - although Blacktwig and Driftpaw and Hazeflight and myself did not get involved either; Blacktwig made a great point of attempting to reign in his kin, but for whatever reason she was half-mad with rage." He continued, allowing his voice to become louder as he addressed the clearing, "So all the rest of us could do was sit back and let Emberheart and Blazeflight fight it out- neither sides saw the point of a full scale battle. Blazeflight almost had her when Emberheart decided that an appropriate move would be to tear off a good portion of Blazeflight's tail, and then break her ribs." He finished the final part, unable to hide the anger in his voice. Noting the defensive look in Blacktwig's eyes and voice, Shadewillow gave a dismissing shake of his head, "Once I dealt with Emberheart, Blacktwig was kind enough to help us return Blazeflight to camp, and comes to apologize for his sister's wild, heinous behavior." He added, noting the slight tension in Larksong's body.

Hazeflight padded into camp beside Blazeflight. She glanced nervously at Blacktwig and Shadewillow, hoping it would all end up fine. The she-cat shuffled her paws and curled the tip of her tail. The silver Bengal opened her maw to speak then closed it. As the answer came to her. A small smile crossed Hazeflight's features as she realised this would be the first time she got to see how well daughter had been doing in her training.

Hazeflight relaxed greatly as Honeydrop arrived. "A broken leg? Thank StarClan it wasn't something worse. Will it heal well? I would never forgive myself if it didn't." She meowed hurriedly. Hazeflight took a deep breath. "Sorry, Honeydrop. You don't need these questions while you work" she added apolagetically.

Larksong blinked as Honeydrop addressed her, quickly dipping her head to the medicine cat in acknowledgement but as she turned to fetch Thrushstar, she froze as Shadewillow spoke up. While knowing that she shouldn't waste any time on fetching her leader, she found herself unable to move as she listened to what Shadewillow had to say. And oh what he had to say. Her ears quickly fell back as the mention of them running into a ThunderClan patrol and she felt her claws dig even deeper into the ground. When Shadewillow revealed that this was the doing of a single ThunderClan warrior, she quickly turned and briskly headed toward Thrushstar's den. If Blacktwig had no part in harming Blazeflight, then she didn't care to keep an eye on him mostly when Hazeflight finally arrived but kept her ears perked as she listened to the rest of Shadewillow's story. Reaching the leader's den, she poked her head in as she softly called out in case he was sleeping so not to startle him. "Thrushstar? You are needed - Blazeflight's been hurt by a ThunderClan warrior...But one of the attacker's Clanmates is also here as he helped Blazeflight back to the camp." She felt it was important to mention that the ThunderClan tom was innocent - she didn't want Thrushstar to leap to conclusions in his old age...Not that she could blame him.


Smokestripe watched with a nervous look as Shadewillow started his story and Larksong was ordered to fetch Thrushstar and Leopardfang. He listened with wide eyes, a seer of panic flashing though him when Shadewillow mentioned Hazeflight being on the patrol with them. Where was she? Was she hurt? But his panic soon died down when the she-cat entered the camp, looking to be fine as she briskly hurried over to where the small group was. Listening to the story, his ears fell flat as it was revealed it had been a border patrol fight. That...Wasn't good. ShadowClan had been doing so well with peace, the idea that Hazeflight was hurt by a raving ThunderClan queen seemed...Stunning. How would they respond? It didn't seem something to fight about - Darkstar was reasonable and hopefully Blacktwig would inform her of this...Right? As Shadewillow finished, his gaze flashed over to where Larksong was. It would take time to gather up both Thrushstar and Leopardfang herself...He quickly spun and darted into the warrior den, heading for the deputy's nest. "Leopoardfang?" he called, his voice shaking with nervousness. "Bl-Blazeflight's been hurt in a fight...Y-You may want to come out and hear what happened."

"Yes, that is what h-happened. I-I just... I didn't want to st-start a fight, it was so... so peaceful. But I had to f-fight back, I couldn't j-just let her hurt me...Or Shad-Shadowclan, for that matter" Its all my fault...  Yes, Emberheart did do serious damage, but that was no worse than a war between the two clans. She would much rather give her life, or have herself suffer, rather than making the whole clan suffer. "Thrushstar shouldn't h-have to deal wi-with this. It's all my fault... I shouldn't have f-fought back." She watched Honeydrop closely as she created a poultice to apply to her injury. She looked back over to her fraction of a tail, momentarily forgetting about it didn't seem odd for her situation, there were other pains inflicted, and she almost forgot it had happened." Honeydrop, when can I hunt again?" She already longed to be running around in the mud, hunting alongside her friends.

So, a good portion was severed off by Emberheart

Honeydrop listened carefully as Shadewillow talked, tuning out the worried prattle of Hazeflight.. What was wrong with that queen? What did she have against ShadowClan? No cat should do that to anyone, especially not for no reason. Blazeflight got seriously injured in a stupid border skirmish. Oh, dear StarClan, give me a break! ShadowClan is a Clan too! You can't just ignore our needs! Why did you take Alderheart away?! She nodded mechanically, hiding her inner turmoil. She was a medicine cat. She had to be calm and patient in front of others. Put on a good front. Conceal the anger and frustration, don't let them see. You're a medicine cat, for StarClan's sakes! Pull yourself together, Honeydrop! I know you aren't perfect, but you have to do your best. No more blood on your paws. You can't live with any more guilt, and you know it. Be strong.

Hearing Blazeflight, she shook her head as she applied cobwebs to Blazeflight's bleeding half-tail. "No, if you hadn't fought back everything would've only been worse. There was no stopping this mad she-cat, so protecting yourself and your Clan's honor was the best decision." She winced at the she-cat's other question, applying the poultice to her stomach area where the broken ribs were. The golden dappled she-cat tried not to look the new warrior directly in the eyes. "You'll need to spend at least a moon mending, and you may have to relearn how to balance. It shouldn't be... too serious. If course, it depends on how well you heal. I'll have to set the bones, and... and.... We'll see how it goes." To be honest, the medicine cast didn't have much hope, but she tried to force an upbeat tone into her voice. Her guilty, self-blaming eyes betrayed her inner thoughts, however. She'll never he the same again. I'm sure Alderheart could've healed her. Great StarClan, this is all my fault.

Hazeflight stared at the ground, her guilt creeping up on her. She always seemed to be around when cats got hurt or died and this time it really was her fault. "Besides what was Emberheart talking about? ShadowClan would never trespass on other clan territory, unlike SkyClan and their fox hearted warriors. ThunderClan hunted on our territory they've got it all wrong!" Hazeflight looked down at the crippled Blazeflight. " Emberheat was really out of her mind, going on about how we trespassed and hunted on there territory. I think she has it the wrong way round, they hunted on our territory." she stated flicking her tail. The queen lifted her head and gave a quick nod to the gathered cats. "Anything I can do instead of standing around?"
