Yellow Aspens (Closed)

She'd barely ever thought she'd get an apprentice at all, much less one her own mother had assigned to her. Did she trust her that much now?
Aspentail poked her head inside the apprentice's den. It felt like it had been so long since she'd last been here, though it was only a few moons ago. She scanned for her apprentice, quickly spotting him taking a quick nap. "Hey, Yellowpaw." She nudged him, maybe a little forcefully. "Get up. We've got training to do."

Yellowpaw quickly get up and followed older she-cat, which was his mentor now. He was tense, because of a question inside him; what is she going to teach him today. He didn´t want to ask her right away, cause he knew how annoying could this be. This was a mistake that almost all apprentices did; asking without thinking.

Setting a brisk pace, Aspentail lead Yellowpaw through the territory. "I guess you've already seen the terrritory out here. You can sometimes find birds, voles and amphibians to hunt by the banks, but we won't do that today. Instead, we'll head down to the river and I'll show you how to fish. Got it?" The warrior strode ahead, leading the way to the river. "Come on, hurry up!"

Yellowpaw did expected that fish would be his first task. RiverClan cats are much different of other clan cats because they love to swim and hunt in ther water. It is obvious that he must master fishing, as soon as possible. He was determined that he will show Aspentail that he is able to be a proffesional clan cat. When she jellew; Hurry up!, he was deeply thinking and he must to strained all forces to be with head on the path. He could even felt, and this would be a big shame for him.

As the pair finally reached the river, Aspentail turned to Yellowpaw. "Alright, here goes. Put one paw in the water, and wait for a fish to swim by. Once you spot one, quickly use your jaws to snap it up and finish it off on shore." She demonstrated, catching a fish quite quickly and pinning it down on the riverbank. "Now, you try."

Yellowpaw slowly noded and steped closer to the water. He put his paw into the water and then waited. When the water calm down, from his paw and fish started to swim near him again, he decided which one will he snap. Then he waited and as the luck was on his side, the fish swimmed even nearer. Without anything, Yellowpaw snaped it out of a water and quickly finished it. First hunt was very good.

Aspentail nodded approvingly. She hadn't expected Yellowpaw to have picked it up so quickly."Good job, you're a fast learner. Try and catch a couple more, and we'll see if it was just beginner's luck."

Yellopaw noded again, as it was thing that he was doing all his life. Then he calmed his body; it was important that he didn´t move- fish can sense almost every move in the water. Then he watched what was happening in the river. There were only three smaller but silver fish swimming near him. Others were too scared and terrified because of death of their older friend. He had to be quick and powerfull; all fish near him were young so they could escape very fast and without warning. He picked one fish, which was the biggest of them. But still it was much smaller than already kiled fish. He looked at it for some moments and then snaped it. Yes! Fish was out of the water, but when he was so happy and almost celebrating, the young fish managed to got nearer to the river. Yellowpaw yelled: "No!" And in another moment, fish jumped into the river and escaped.

Aspentail's face fell for a second. "Oh, well. Keep practising, you'll get the hang of it. Here, I'll give you a little tip - make sure you're quick and with a tight grip. You need lighting-fast reflexes and well, show no mercy to the fish when you're clamping down. Got it?"

Yellowpaw was dissapointed but still he noded proudly and said: "Okay! I will try to do my best next time." Then he turned to his mentor and added: "What will we do now?"

"Well, we've got the basics of hunting down, so how about a little fight practice?" Aspentail said. She hadn't planned on doing much more than fishing, but it seemed like Yellowpaw was enthusiastic enough. She might as well make use of the time she had. "Alright, I want you to try to attack me as best you can. Don't hold back. I'm a whole lot older than you and I can take it. I'll critique you and point out where you could improve."

Yellowpaw thought for a moments. Was some trap in words of his mentor? He was in no doubt, that Aspentail was stronge, faster and much more experienced than him. How could she expect from him, to defeat her?
But he didn´t want to hesitate and look weak so he immediately attacked. He bumbed into her, with expecting that she would be suprised. All his forces were in this attack, so he jumped and tried to bumbed into her as much as he could.
