What are we waiting for? (GrassxBlaze)

Grasspaw yawned as she woke up from her first week of being an apprentice. Training had been strenuous so far, despite not having really any training sessions with her new mentor. The days had been filled with hunting, caring for the elders and patching up walls around camp. Thankfully, because of Blazepaw's instruction, she was a natural at all of these things. But her paws itched to get out of camp. She had only had the opportunity to explore the territory once since being apprenticed due to how busy things had been preparing for the upcoming cold weather. For once, though, her mentor had given her the day to hunt. Her stalking skills had improved drastically, yet she still hoped to get better.

The grey and white she-cat stretched as she stood up, flexing her muscles in preparation for the day. As she started to make her way out of the den, she saw Blazepaw still curled up in his nest. The thought of going out alone seemed unappealing and the tom had once promised to help her with her hunting during the time she had been stuck as a kit. Padding over to his sleeping figure, she nudged his pelt with her nose.

"Wake up, Blazepaw! We're going out hunting," She meowed happily. Grasspaw assumed he would be up for it, given they had to wait so long for this moment.

Blazepaw opened his eyes and stretched. "Alright Grasspaw. Lead the way." He meowed as she gave himself a quick wash and then stood up.

The young apprentice bounded out of the den, and waited for Blazepaw to follow.

Blazepaw followed his best friend out of the den and then out of the camp into the forest. It was beautiful at this time of day, with the dew all strewn about everywhere. It collected on the furs of cats and the grass and other plants around the two.

"What a nice day to be out!" She exclaimed cheerfully, reveling in the fact they could finally explore the forest together. There was no much to do stuck inside of camp, but out here the possibilities were endless! When they were a bit away from camp, Grasspaw turned towards the tom and let out a playful growl. Her excitement made it hard to focus. It wouldn't hurt to mess around for a little bit. Within seconds, she had leapt at her friend, bowling him over and laughing the whole time.

Blazepaw laughed when Grasspaw bowled him over laughing all the while. He rolled over on his side, taking Grasspaw with him and he pinned her down. "Alright let's see your fighting skills!" The gray and white tom meowed flicking his tail.

Her eyes narrowed. The tom knew she hadn't received any battle training yet, but she was still determined to try something. She went limp for a second under his weight and then attempted to crash into his soft underbelly. Grasspaw's technique wasn't the best and since they were mock fighting, she didn't used all of her strength, but she hoped that he was maybe caught off guard

Blazepaw was caught off guard and tumbled to her side. He smirked. He knew that she didn't have any fighting skill training but she could still have picked something up.

"Gotcha!" She yowled triumphantly, jumping on top of him this time and pinning him down, "Not bad for a new apprentice, huh?".

Blazepaw smirked. "Yeah not bad Grasspaw. But are you ready for this?" The tom, having more fighting experience, used that chance to surge up and he did a little backfill and landed a few fox lengths away from the she cat. Next her rolled into a bush and waited until he lunged out and pinned her. "Gotcha" He purred. He was so close their noses were only a few centimeters apart.

"Apparently not," She breathed softly, running out of breath from all of their play fighting, "You've won this time, tough guy".

Blazepaw laughed and got off and nudged her up. "Well practice makes perfect. You just gotta practice Grasspaw. Anyways what do you wanna do now?" The white and gray tom meowed.

"Maybe we could actually get some hunting done?" She suggested lightly. While the she-cat wanted to mess around with her friend, she had only been an apprentice for a week and wanted to make her clan proud. With things getting colder, there was less and less to be found and the clan needed to be fed.

Blazepaw nodded. "Alright. Well do you have a particular place in mind? I hope you've been practicing your hunting skills on rocks a leaves!" He purred.

"Oh, I've managed to get my claws on a few other things. You know I've done more than just clear away dirty bedding these past few day," She meowed, "Maybe near Sunningrocks. It's a beautiful day". Her stomach churned angrily, remembering that Riverclan currently had the rocks. When was Thunderclan planning on getting them back?. Her clan was certainly not in the best position to be starting battles, but she hated the thought of another clan possessing what was rightfully theirs. Despite that, there would probably still be prey in the surrounding areas near the rocks.
