Playtime in the Shadows [open]

Yellow eyes flickered in the shadows as Smokekit frowned. His tail waved back and forth, brushing across the ground but his target failed to notice. One paw in front of another, he stalked forward from the shadow of the nursery before he couched, took a deep breath, and leaped. He busted forth from his cloak of darkness as he let out a hiss. His front paws hit his prey straight on but the monument of his leap sending him tumbling tail over head as he hit the ground with an 'oof. He blinked, his so-called prey - in reality a ball of moss - was hooked on one of his claws as Smokekit smiled widely. He pulled it toward his body, biting into the ball of moss with a squeak of victory as he playfully clawed at it with his back paws - not taking the time to roll onto his stomach. The mighty warrior of ShadowClan had stuck again!

Making his way to the nursery, Mudfoot decided to ask if the queens needed anything. Upon entering the dark den, he caught a kit playing with a moss ball. Watching as the small cat pretended to hunt, Mudfoot couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "Good job," the tom meowed to the small kit with a smile.

Shadepaw's ears twitched as he heard a squeak coming from the nursery, amusement making his whiskers twitch- until only a few days ago he must of sounded like that; so rambunctious! He had previously been basking in the slightly weak sunlight, but whatever was taking place sounded more interesting than his previous attempt at a nap. Rising to his paws, Shadepaw ducked into the nursery along side Mudfoot, spotting the final moments of Smokekit's scramble with the moss and a purr rose in his throat. "Great catch Smokekit- you'll definitely catch frogs like that ."Shadepaw gently teased his former denmate affectionately.

Smokekit had been so absorbed in his 'killing' of the ball of moss that he hadn't realized that Mudfoot and Shadepaw had entered the nursery until their voices split the air and caught his attention. He blinked as he rolled onto his paws to get a better view of the older cats, the ball of moss falling between his paws as he smiled widely at their praise of him. He hopped onto his paws, straightening up as he fluffed ouf his fur to make himself look slightly bigger as he raised his chin proudly. "I'm gonna be the best warrior ShadowClan ever seen, just you wait! I'm going to catch all of the frogs!" he squeaked happily as he glanced between the two older cats.

"Definitely the best." Shadepaw agreed with a flick of his tail which swept moss around his haunches and paws. "Although your hunting crouch could use a little tweaking." Shadepaw chuckled, reaching out to prod Smokekit's side gently.

Mudfoot chuckled at the small kits confidence and gave a nod to Shadepaw when he entered the den. "Fortunately for you, there is plenty of time to become a master hunter," the tom added with a smile to Smokekit. He loved kits and their rambunctiousness.

Smokekit smile quickly turned into a pout when Shadepaw mentioned his couch could use a bit of work and swiped playfully at the apprentice when he attempted to prod him.  He had caught the ball of moss perfectly fine so clearly his hunting crouch was just fine! His eyes shifted to Mudfoot however when the warrior spoke up. Smokekit looked uncertain - as while there was plenty of time to master hunting, there was also so much time until he would become an apprentice!

But, after a few seconds his eyes glimmered as he smiled widely at the two, deciding not to linger on the fact that it would be a while before he would become Smokepaw. "Once I master my crouch, nothing will escape from me!" As he said that, he went into his makeshift crouch with his eyes focusing on the single notable moving object in the nursery - Shadepaw's swishing tail. He quickly pushed himself forward, playfully landing on Shadepaw's tail as he swatted at it with soft growls.

A small kitten poked her head out of the nursery, peering over to where a few warriors stood around with her denmate, although she hadn't much time to get to know him yet. He said he was going to be the best hunter ever? Ravenkit smiled, getting low and creeping up on him, her hind wiggling around wildly. Once she was close enough, she made a pounce onto his back. "I'm going to be the best hunter and fighter!"

Darkpaw watched from the distance as Mudfoot's butt poked out of the nursery.

OOc: I'll remove if it's insulting. I only posted that because I'm bored in real life.

Shadepaw attempted to whisk his tail from underneath Smokekit, a purr building in his throat as he realized how well Smokekit had trapped it. "Much better!" Shadepaw praised, his amber eyes glinted as he spotted Ravenkit quickly creeping up on the smaller tom, his whiskers twitching with silent laughter as Ravenkit pounced on Smokekit with the proclamation that she was going to be the best at hunting and fighting. "Shadowclan will be lucky to have two of the best hunters and fighters!" Shadepaw chuckled, watching the two kits play with slight envy- ever since he was apprenticed he hadn't been able to play with his littermate Stormpaw anymore.

Wildkit, after seeing his sister leave the nursery, poked his head out and looked around. He yawned and stumbled his way out. He was content with just watching, although perhaps a little bit of playing wouldn't hurt, would it? He padded up to the group where his siblings, and a few others were all playing around. "Oh yeah? Well I'm gonna be even better!" he said, adding onto the pile of kittens.

OOC: seriously Dark? -3-

IC: Sitting down, the tom's tail swished back and forth outside the nursery but he tucked it under his legs, not wanting any apprentice to think it was a play thing. Looking back to the group of kits who'd now gathered and were debating who would be the best warrior, he let out a mew of laughter. "I bet you'll all be amazing warriors."

OOC: lmao. Anyway, Darkpaw's gonna die. Hey wild, having 2 cats with the prefix "wild" but in different clans is confusing me.

Darkpaw still watched from the distance at Mudfoot's tail swishing back and forth.

Smokekit smiled when Shadepaw praised him but quickly squeaked in surprised when weight was suddenly added to his back and his legs almost buckled beneath him. The voice was of Ravenkit, one of his Clanmates as he struggled to shake her off as his legs quivered beneath him. "Get off!" he hissed, but it was mixed with friendly laughter. Then another new voice - Wildkit, Ravenkit's brother, joined in and Smokekit cried out as more weight was added and his legs finally gave out. He collapsed to the ground with the wiggling mass of Wildkit and Ravenkit on top of him as he flailed his free front paws in vain. There was little Smokekit could do to free himself from the kitten pile he was now a member of. "Heeeelp!" he whined toward the older apprentice and warrior as he clawed at the ground in feeble attempts to pull himself out.

Ravenkit had let out a big squeak of triumph as she had managed to pin down Smokekit, but her bit of excitement was ruined as her brother had seemed to throw himself right on top of her too! "Wildkit, you big frog-brain!" The she-kit squirmed around on the elder kit's back, squishing Smokekit more. "Get off of me!"
