Waspkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to hunt their prey, gather underneath the Tall Rock for a clan meeting." Saltpelt ordered her position on Tall Rock, waiting for the clan to gather.

Waspkit heard the call, and eagerly ran out of the nursery, ditching his mother. He ran to the Tall Rock, barely able to contain his excitement as everyone else gathered. Why did everyone have to be this slow? 'Hurry up, you fat cats!' He wanted to yell, but he kept himself calm. This was his apprentice ceremony, all about him, and no one else. Waspkit unsheathed his claws and dug them into the ground. That would keep him from running around.

Flashstorm sat down in his place and blinked calmly.

"Waspkit, step forward." The she-cat commanded, emulating Falconstar in her tone and posture.

Waspkit sighed in relief as Saltpelt asked him to step forward. He sheathed his claws and took a proud step forward, his orange pelt flashing in the bright sun. He beamed up at Saltpelt, waiting for his mentor to be called. He would be the best apprentice.

"Waspkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Wasppaw. Your mentor will be Breezeheart, she is a loyal, bold Dark Forest cat who will teach you everything you need to know." The Dark Forest leader purred, then leapt down from the rock to allow the clan to celebrate the newly apprenticed tom's ceremony. His generation would be the first to be apprenticed by the Dark Forest, hopefully, he'd be brave for them, loyal.

Wasppaw jumped for joy, and ran to his new mentor, barely able to contain his joy. He beamed at everyone be passed, a spring in his step. He was going to be the very best, and no one would beat him.
