"Get up," Thrushstar said sternly into the apprentice's den where Bearpaw slept. It was time for the border patrol and the leader didn't want to waste any time.

Bearpaw was immediately on his feet, shaking out the stale moss of his nest. He said nothing, quickly licking his shoulder than angling his ears forward to listen to Thrushstar's instructions. Bearpaw was a quiet cat, and said very little.

When the apprentice got up, Thrushstar turned silently and headed out into the territory, expecting Bearpaw to follow. They were going to get this training done as soon as possible. He was going to teach this apprentice the right way.
