Maizepaw's Assessment

Ashwing got up out of her nest, stretched, and walked decisively to the apprentices' den. She had decided it was about time Maizepaw became a warrior. "Maizepaw," she purred, "wake up. It's time for your assessment."

The pink hued cream tom awoke peacefully, his yellow eyes blinking the sleep away while they looked up at Ashwing. Quickly, Maizepaw jumped to his feet and shook moss off of his fur. "Yes, Ashwing. I am ready to go." He gave the deputy a nod and padded out of the den's entrance. It felt like he had been an apprentice since forever ago, and he was happy that it was about time for him to become a warrior.

Ashwing followed him. "I thought we'd do some battle training and then some hunting; how's that sound?" she asked briskly.

Maizepaw nodded and paused to let Ashwing take the lead. Though he was happy that he was going to become a warrior soon, Maizepaw thought about Palepaw, his best friend and Fawnpaw, his crush. He would have to leave the two behind in the apprentice's den while he moved to the warrior's den. Maybe they would become warriors soon, too, so that they could all be in the warrior's den.

OOC: most moves done by a deputy rank would instantly K.O. Maizepaw, so I'm dividing all damage done by Ashy in half (also because they're just practice fighting). K?

IC: Ashwing turned around when they reached the clearing on the moors where they usually battled. "When you're in the thick of battle,' she reasoned, "you have to be ready for someone to attack at any moment." She lunged forwards, tackling her apprentice.

Ashwing used Run-and-tackle on Maizepaw, dealing 10 damage and using 10 stamina.

Maizepaw yowled in surprise as he was toppled to the ground, but he quickly regained himself and jumped to his paws. Instinct took over the tom's body and he soon found himself running at the deputy, the world rushing by in his peripheral vision as a blur while his eyes focused on Ashwing. Soon, he was flying through the air, paws outstretched, as he leaped toward his mentor. A rush of adrenaline pushed his body to it's limits while he clawed at Ashwing and pinned her down.

Maizepaw's heart pounded nervously as his attack failed. No, no, no, no! I don't want to fail you, Ashwing. I want to prove myself. He stumbled to his feet weakly, trying to keep his legs from shaking. He knew he had already lost the fight, but he wanted to throw in one more attack before he was physically unable to get back up. With a growl, the pink-cream tom sliced at Ashwing with his claws unsheathed.
