Battle training [For Finchpaw]

Saltpelt crawled out of her nest in the burrows that WindClan liked to sleep in to avoid the whistling cold of the Leafbare wind. Buds of green were blossoming on bushes, but that hardly did anything to block the bitter winds. She was looking forward to Greenleaf, where their prey wouldn't be so tough and lean, stringy and hard to eat. Opening her jaws in a loud yawn, the she-cat went over to the prey pile to wolf down a small bird, whoever had hunted it had pretty much decapitated it, leaving it unrecognisable. Probably an apprentice, she thought, finishing it off.

With her appetite sated, she went over to the apprentice den to wake up her apprentice, Finchpaw. "Finchpaw? You awake?"

Finchpaw shot up "Ya"

"C'mon, get a bite to eat and I'll take you to the fields for a training." The she-cat called out, not quite small enough to fit in the apprentice den, so she lurked outside.

Finchpaw nodded "Ok" she stretched and padded to her mentor

Saltpelt moved aside, and waited for Finchpaw to eat her meal. The freshkill pile was woefully low, but that was fortunately the reality of this sort of cold weather. At least Greenleaf is coming soon, she thought to herself. "Don't take too long, or I'll bolt off without you and go hunting." She joked.

Finchpaw purred and picked a mouse from the pile, she began to eat. When she finished she stood up "I'm ready!" she purred

"Good! Follow me then." The warrior meowed, walking on ahead with her fluffy white tail held high, she lead then through frosted grass, leaf bare bushes, and over rocks till they reached a safe alcove where they could train. "This is it. Ready to learn a few good moves so you can kick the other clan's hindquarters?"

Finchpaw follower her mentor out to the frosted territory. She smiled "I'm up for the challenge!" she mewed excitedly.

"Great. I'll show you the first move. Brace yourself." The white tabby's blue eyes locked onto the smaller apprentice, she had no intention of using her full strength, but a little pain was good for her. It would teach Finchpaw the brutal reality of a proper battle. It disgusted her, but if Finchpaw was to face a warrior in battle, there was no way they'd show any mercy. It was necessary.

She raised one of her front paws, keeping her claws sheathed, and thumped Finchpaw lightly across the head. It was enough to off-balance her, but not to cause any harm.

Finchpaw caught off balance but got it back, she kept her claws sheathed just as her mentor did. She jumped up and rolled onto her mentor, she tried to keep her held down as much as possible.

OOC: For leap and hold, you need to roll the dice. Do you know how to do that?

Saltpelt was pinned by her apprentice, the tabby couldn't help beam as she meowed. "Nice! You sure that you're not secretly a battle hardened warrior?" Technically, she could have broken out of her hold, considering their size difference, but Finchpaw's hold was pretty good. Well balanced.

Finchpaw flew off and skidded on the ground, she purred "Maybe" she mewed

With the apprentice off her, Saltpelt settled into a crouch, her hindquarters rising up before she lunged at the apprentice. She flipped her over, and pinned Finchpaw in place to rake at her belly with her claw sheathed paws. It was more a rough kneading that a proper attack. "Getting cocky, hey?" She meowed with amusement colouring her tone.
