Meadow on Flames

Meadowpaw padded nervously around a bush. She saw the rogue and stopped, stunned. "H-hello. I'm Meadowpaw. I used to be a Clan cat, but now... I don't know what I am," she sighed sadly.

She padded up to the rogue and sniffed him. "Who are you?" Meadowpaw asked curiously. Then realizing she should be more polite, she dipped her head as low as it would go, giving the rogue deep respect.

Meadowpaw was about to answer, "I'm from ThunderClan, not those stupid WindClan cats! But the rogue had turned around. Flustered and confused, Meadowpaw hurried after him. "Where are we going?" she asked curiously.

"Hello, Flames!" Meadowpaw purred. But then she faltered "I... I come from ThunderClan. My mentor Batwing never paid any attention to me. My uncle loved me as if I was his own. His name is Sunpelt... I miss him already. I left ThunderClan yesterday because... Well, it's a long story. I'll start from the beginning. My brother Summitpaw is in love with my friend Fawnpaw. Fawnpaw is also in love with him, so they'll be mates when they're warriors. I didn't like it because Summitpaw and I used to do everything together, and it's as if Fawnpaw replaced me. And just yesterday my mother, Frostsnap, drowned in a river, and Summitpaw couldn't save her... It's as if everything is punishing me for no reason. So I left the Clan, and I won't go back. Sadness lurks there, and will haunt me if I ever return."

Meadowpaw backed away as the sudden rush of unfamiliar smells hit her scent glands. She shut her mouth tight, staring at the second rogue that had appeared. She slid out her claws and tensed, ready for an attack. "Don't you dare take one step..." Meadowpaw threatened.

Meadowpaw stiffened. "A-apprentice? There are... there are apprentices among rogues? I-I'm not sure I want to be... I'm not sure I want to become an apprentice again! That's too much like ThunderClan... And what do you learn as an apprentice here?"
