| ~As Dusk traveled into the marshy forest her purple orbs stared straight ahead, only shifting to glare down at the murky water in her path. The sun was high above her in the sky, a bit past the halfway point, causing the air in her swamp-like surroundings to be humid and stagnant.
In the few dry spots of land there were the black fluffy she-kit flinched as pine needles crackled under her paws. She had gained a bit of skill at identifying and following scents in the past moons she had been on her own. Even so, with the stink of the mud and pine trees flooding her nose she had no way to tell if any other creatures, big or small, were near her.~ "This was a bug-brain idea. Even if there is prey in this forest there's no way I'd be able to catching or even find it."
~As the she-kit continued to pad forward, making slow progress in the mud, she pricked her ears and stopped, having thought she heard something. After a few moments of complete silence the black ball of fur shook her head a bit before moving on, muttering to herself.~ "Great, now I'm hearing things..." ~Thinking back to the loner she had run into that had directed her towards the forest, Dusk tried to remember exactly what the tom had told her.~ ______________________________________ |

| ~Jumping at the sound of the queen's voice the kit fluffed up her already fluffy coat and hissed softly. When she saw the she-cat she backed away a few tail lengths and her ears lowered a bit, hissing a little louder.~ "W-what do you want?" ~Dusk asked, trying to sound as unfriendly and threatening as possible.~ ______________________________________ |

| ~When the she-cat didn't scare off, which truthfully wasn't suprising though Dusk didn't seem to think so, she backed up a few more steps herself. At the she-cat's questions the kit's ears lowered further and she looked away.~ "I... I don't have one." ______________________________________ |

| That was quite a shock. This kit had to have a mother! "Do you know where you came from?" She asked. Maybe there was someone there that could take care of the kit. Poor Fennelcloud wasnt sure how Thrushstar would feel about a new kit... |

| ~Seeing a look that Dusk could only guess was confusion enter the she-cat's eyes the kit let her fur settle and turned away. Where moments ago the black she-kit had been tense and scared, her attempt at viciousness having failed, now she seemed exhausted. It was obvious that the kit was exhausted, it showed in every part of her body and face except for her eyes. Her eyes were shadowed with grief, the she-kit too young to have learned how to hide such things.~ "It doesn't matter anymore. There's nothing for me there..." ______________________________________ |

| Feeling sorry for the poor kit, the queen sat down and crouched so that she was the same height as Dusk. This was a tough decision. Thrushstar wouldn't like the fact that Fennelcloud was bringing a rogue kit into camp, but she couldn't just leave Dusk out here on her own. Wasn't that part of the code, anyway? "Well... If you want to follow me, I have a place you can stay for a while," she tried to say cheerfully, but hiding under her expression was worry about what the Shadowclan leader would say. |

| ~Dusk looked at the larger cat, startled as she came closer. At the she-cat's proposition Dusk frowned and looked at her doubtfully. Seeing the she-cat's expression Dusk was instantly reminded of her mother and looked away.~ "I don't need you're help..." ~The kit muttered to crouched cat next to before turning and starting to walk away. Despite the kit's response her gruff demeanor immediately changed back to exhaustion as she turned away and, unknowingly, she had headed off right in the direction of ShadowClan camp.~ ______________________________________ |

"Besides, you're already heading in the right direction. Just stay for a night and get some food in your belly. How does that sound?" |

| ~Continuing to walk forward Dusk frowned at the she-car's proposition. She had already done everything she could to get rid of the she-cat and it hadn't worked. 'She sure is persistent... Kinda like-' ~Dusk shook her head hard, banishing thoughts of Him from her mind. As she did the she-kit slowed a bit so she wouldn't stumble into anything. Yawning the black fall of fluff finally agreed.~ "Fine. But first thing tomorrow I'm leaving." ~Looking around at the pine trees around tge Dusk wondered how she'd be able to find her way out without ending up where she had started just before she entered. Wiyh a sigh she dismissed the worry, deciding to deal with it later as she trudged next to the energetic she-cat. ______________________________________ |
