Fox Hunt (Open)

Dewstar had heard repeat reports of a fox wandering the territory and endangering her Clan. The foxkit from moons before had come back and even killed a Clanmate, putting her in a bad mood. "We're on a fox hunt," She had told her Clan from the High Rock that morning, "and we're going to find the killer of Falconflight and end its life! I want all able-bodied warriors and apprentices to group up, spread out and comb the territory. Let's move! No apprentices without at least one warrior!" Dewstar herself had taken Spottedfeather and Sunface with her, and the three she-cats were now prowling in the mid-day heat in search of the fox.

Sunface followed after her leader, copying her caution. Foxes were dangerous, and taking one on by oneself was dangerous and almost always ended in a fool's death. She stalked quietly behind Spottedfeather, not wanting to be in the way and doing her best not to be too noisy.

Spottedfeather stalked slightly, staring at the bushes ahead. "Who would have thought it would come back and kill?" she muttered, not talking to anyone in particular.

Maplebloom padded quietly behind, ears perked and eyes alert. If anything happened, she would defend her clan before herself. If anyone was being attacked...she shook her head. Nobody is going to die, she thought. Maplebloom had paired up with Goldenpaw, who was following next to her, jumping at every sound she heard.

"Maplebloom, I don't want the fox to attack me," Goldenpaw whispered a little to loud.

"No duh, nobody wants to be attacked, now shush up and stop acting like a lost kit," Maplebloom replied.

Flameclaw followed along next to Maplebloom. The orange she-cat wanted nothing more than to find that fox and dig her claws into it's skin. It had killed some of her clan mates. She also wanted to make sure in her power that no one would die. Or she would die first before she let it get to her clan mates. Every so often the warrior dug her claws into the ground out of anger, and she kept a scowl on her face as they made their way through the territory.

Willowpaw looked around, searching for a patrol to join. "Can I join anyone's patrol?" she mewed to no one in paticular. Sighing, she wondered if she would have to sit this one out.

Goldenpaw shot her head over to the lonely she-cat named Willowpaw. "You can join us if you want," she said excitedly.

"No, you don't really have to if you don't want to," Maplebloom barged in

"No, come on! The more the merrier!"

Maplebloom let out a tiny groan, then continued on

Willowpaw smiled and took the young she cats offer. "Thanks," she mewed politely. Willowpaw followed in after them, staying by the other apprentice.

Hearing that warriors and apprentices were going on a fox-hunt, Breezefeather sighed and looke out the warriors den to where a group of felines were gathering. Able bodied.... The two words kept going round and round in her head like a storm. "Stupid leg." She hissed under her breath and swerved her emerald gaze to the crumpled limb.

OOC: Willowpaw isn't a real character. She isn't in creations.

Ooc: She should be, she was made an apprentice by Dewstar with Dustypaw, Palepaw, and Dimpaw. Can it be fixed?

Lightningpaw snuck behind the group. "What are we doing, now?" he whispered to the nearest cat

Eaglepaw was behind the cats and he perked his ears. Fox hunt? This should be fun. He stood tall and watched every cat.

One step at a time. One small, careful step at a time. Dewstar was quite wary of her surroundings at this point, stopping often to sniff at the air. Rats! The wind shifted against her favor, like it had been all morning. She was never a good tracker in the first place, and the failure to find the fox and avenge her fallen warrior soured her already terrible mood. And then, as the light gray leader was stepping carefully over a root, she saw it. She smelled it. The mud around the root was covered in large prints; larger than a cat's, but smaller than a typical dog's. Clumps of orange fur dotted the surrounding bushes as if the owner had scrambled clumsily through. The leader's angry demeanor shifted in the blink of an eye to almost uncontrollable excitement and she shot away from her group without word or warning. She crashed her way through the undergrowth and, before she knew what was happening, Sunface saw her leader's tail disappear.

The ginger cat watched in astonishment the place that her leader had previously been. At first she wondered why Dewstar had rushed off like that, but then she saw the evidence of the fox. She, too, disregarded her previous caution and dashed after Dewstar, only to get her paws tangled in the aforementioned root. Stupid tree! Stupid roots! Stupid ground! Sunface scrambled to free her long limbs, scraping at the mud with her claws in a state of confusion and thrill. Her ears swiveled towards Dewstar's direction to hear battle screeches get abruptly cut off. What? What just happened? I've got to help! She managed to free her paws and rocketed straight through the bushes, where a horrendous sight awaited her. The fox turned towards Sunface with Dewstar's lifeless body hanging limply in its bloodstained muzzle, her light blue eyes glazed over in death.
