Mosspaw's Hunting Training

Possumtail woke up early. "Today seems like a good day to go hunting." She mumbled to herself as she walked to the apprentice den. "Mosspaw. Wake up." She said quietly so not to wake the others. She walked to the tunnel and waited for her apprentice.

Mosspaw was sleeping but at her mentors call she woke up. "What did Possumpaw say we were doing today? Oh right. Hunting patrol." She stretched and padded out to meet Possumpaw. "It's a nice day isn't it? Where will we be going to hunt?"

"We'll be going to a log to hunt. There are always a lot of mice there." Possumtail answered before heading out of camp to the log she had told Mosspaw about. She looked back ever once and a while to make Mosspaw was keeping up with her quick pace.

"Oh! I will catch a lot of prey for the clan. Is that the log?" Mosspaw bounded along speaking cheerfully. Then she lowered her voice and stepped lightly careful not disturb the prey.

"Yes there it is!" Possumtail answered. "Remember to set your paws lightly just like you are. Use scent AND hearing to locate prey. Also try and be quiet so you don't scare anymore prey away! I want you to catch five or more pieces of prey to take back to camp."

OOC: So instead of using the quick reply box you hit the post reply button. It will take you to a different page. Below where you type you will see a dice roll button. What you do to hunt is change the dice roll settings to chance dice and the number of prey you would be trying to get. After you have posted there will be a post from Mistpelt giving you a number(s). Depending on what numbers you roll, you edit the ending of your post or add to the next post whether or not Mosspaw caught the prey. Just don't try and catch 10 birds at once or anything!

If you need me to explain further or you don't understand what I mean just PM me. I can do an example post or you can look at another hunting training topic if you would like.
Also when hunting it is okay to multi post. You don't have to wait for me ever single time.

Using her senses, Mosspaw scented a mouse and slowly crept towards it's direction. She stalked it very carefully by putting down her paws lightly and kept downwind of it. She was careful.to not let it hear or scent her. Once she was close enough she wasted no time in thinking. She pounced on the furry body and hoped she caught it. She landed squarely on its shoulder and swiftly delivered the killing bite. "Yes! I caught my first peice of prey!" Mosspaw whispered careful not to disturb the other prey in the area.

Possumtail watched as the apprentice caught the mouse. Her first piece of prey. First try too! She should be proud.

Mosspaw sniffed the air again. This time she saw 2 mice. One looked like the offspring of the other. It was a bit undersized but it would do. She crept in their direction and again put her paws down lightly. Springing out of the bushes she pounced on her prey. She landed on one of the mice but was not quick enough to catch the younger one. Grumbling she retourned to drop of her prey with the others. At least I caught one Mosspaw thought to console herself.

Spotting two mice and a squirrel, Mosspaw crept up on the squirrel first. She leaped at the squirrel and killed it. Next she went for the mice a little ways off. Her paws silent as she could make them, Mosspaw slithered to as close as she could get to the unsuspecting mice. She got ready to leap then flew through the air to meet the mice. She killed both of them! Wow! I caught all of my prey! I hope I didn't scare the rest away. Now Mosspaw could return to camp with her 5 pieces of prey. She looked at her mentor for approval.

Possumtail scooped up three of the mice. "Good job! You have hunting down good!" The warrior praised her apprentice, whom would soon be bigger than her. She started to pad back to camp.

Mosspaw followed Possumtail back to camp. "What will we be doing next? Battle training?"

"Yes but that will be tomorrow." Possumtail answered briefly. She trotted through the ravine and into camp. I hope I have been a good mentor...
