The Whispers of Winter

Rainkit had heard many tales of snow and its glittering glory. She had always longed to see it up close, touch it, play in it. And now she regretted stepping outside of the nursery today. Her little paws were numb, and the freezing winds stung her eyes. No matter how much she tried to get comfortable or forget about the frost and bite of leafbare, she could not get over the shock. The nursery seemed unusual far away now, and Rainkit did not want to spend a moment longer in the whiteness.
"Aaargh!" she screeched at the top of her lungs, not caring who stared. She wanted out of the snow. Now.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Falconfang called out to the sound of the kit, half-hidden in the freezing snow. Crossing through the white powder, the warrior - his brown, fluffy fur quite visible in the snow - reached the kit and picked her up by the scruff, raising her above the snow.

Rainkit didn't hear Falconfang approach, and she yelped in surprise as she was hoisted into the air. Narrowing her eyes, the gray she-kit batted at the warrior's nose. "Hey. To the nursery!"she commanded. She had a feeling that the older cat would refuse, but that would be unwise of him.

"Why are you out of the nursery in the first place? Snow can be very freezing for cats that don't have a fluffy coat." Stormstar tromped though the snow to reach Rainkit and Falconfang. His long tail swished aside the white power that covered the ground, and his dark grey fur was half hidden, his legs blending in with the background because of their white streaks. He moved sightly to stand a place where the small she-cat would be able to see him easily. "Come on, Falconfang. Let's take her to the nursery. She is looking freezing in this weather."

"I have a fluffy coat!" she pointed out, puffing out her long fur. "It's not really helping though! I can't feel my paws! Or my ears! You may wanna speak a little bit louder!"
Rainkit's pale green eyes were focused on Stormstar, and Stormstar only. She tilted her head as if expecting him to say more, and she crossed her front paws over each other in front of her.

Minteyes trudged through the snow. Her brown gray pelt stood out on the blank white ground. A small field mouse hung in her jaws as she entered camp. Seeing Stormstar, Falconfang and the newest kit that had entered WindClan, Rainkit.

Hearing the commotion, Icepaw trotted out of the medicine cat's den into the cold snow. This being her first leaf-bare as well, she could understand what the kit was feeling.

"Stop standing around and get that freezing kit into the nursery! You don't want to lose precious warriors just because of your ignorance, right?" the she-cat hissed. This was her first challenge, so of course she didn't want to mess it up just because of some mouse-brained cats.

Falconfang swallowed a hiss of annoyance as he tried to hold onto the kit while simultaneously keeping her from batting at his nose. Were all kits this annoying? Soon Stormstar, Minteyes, and Icepaw were all around him before he could even move. He had been about to take the kit back to nursery anyway, so he gave a courteous nod to Stormstar before trudging back towards the nursery, ignoring Icepaw's challenging mew ~~since I was sleeping and can't be here 24/7 to cart kits back to the nursery~~.

Raccoonheart lifted her head up as she saw someone in the entrance to the nursery. "Hello Falconfang." The deputy greeted the warrior. She was only in here to keep an eye on the other kit's that were left behind by some unknown parents. She looked at the kit in Falconfang's mouth. "Bring her over here with Blackkit, if you please." She mewed.

Falconfang nodded and walked over to where Blackkit was lying, gently laying the other kit next to her before stepping back and looking at Raccoonheart. "Everything's fine here, I take it?" he mewed a bit awkwardly. Conversations were a bit hard for him now that he was so desperate to earn everyone's trust back.

Rainkit rubbed her stinging eyes, her gaze flickering back and forth betwen Minteyes, Raccoonheart and Falconfang. She noted the awkwardness in Falcon's tone, but she did not say anything. Instead she scraped together bits of old, wet moss, and rolled it into a ball. She rocked her paw back and forth on top of the mossball, and it substituted for entertainment while she could not play outdoors.
Rainkit then recollected that there was another kit here. She turned to Blackkit, stretching out her forepaw to poke the other kit. "Hey. You. Come play."

Stormstar had disappeared ~~From being to lazy to post~~ for a short while before he suddenly poked his head into the nursery with a rabbit in his jaws. Having remebered that his mate was in the den, he figured it would be a good idea to bring her a rabbit for her and the kits. Pulling himself in, he padded to Raccoonheart with a purr before he dropped the rabbit next to her. "I got you a rabbit. With all the kits in here I guessed that you didn't have much time to go and get something to eat," he told her, his gaze shifted to Rainkit and Blackkit.

"Thank you my love." Raccoonheart pureed to Stormstar. She turned her gaze to Rainkit, " Rainkit leave Blackout alone. He/She is trying to sleep." She mewed, "Also you may need to do the same to. " She took a bite of the rabbit. "If you want you can have some of my rabbit Rainkit." The queen mewed.
