Reedpaw nodded and joined Redpaw at the shore, trying his best to keep his shadow away from the surface. That's what the warriors did, right? He saw a flash of silver and quickly hooked his paw, unsheathing his claws, watching the fish intently. He smacked his paw against the water, soaking himself. The fish instantly darted away at a quick speed. Ugh! How did Greyheart do it so easily? A disappointed sigh escaped his lips and he plopped down on the shoreline.

Redpaw tried to position himself so his shadow wasn't in the water. He glanced at Reedpaw, who had missed the fish and gotten himself wet. Redpaw saw a sliver of silver underneath the water and watched as the fish got a bit higher. He hooked his paw and unsheathed his claws before darting his paw towards the fish. He pulled the fish out and killed it before it flopped into the water. It's not that big. It was a regular sized fish, one that wasn't very fast.

Reedpaw watched as Redpaw successfully caught the fish. A competitive flare lit up in his eyes and he turned back towards the river, staring down into the depths. He saw another fish down there, seemingly swimming in place as it tried to move upstream. It was huge! It'd certainly make Froststar proud. He pouted a bit. The apprentice wasn't trying to make Froststar proud, nor RiverClan. This was for him. He bunched up his hind legs, before leaping into the air, landing in the water with a loud splash. Reedpaw surfaced again, the salmon flopping around violently trying to escape Reedpaw's grip as he dragged it to shore.

Ic-Nightpaw glanced at her mentor for a clue on how to fish. Taking a chance, she made sure her shadow didn't show over the water, and dashed out an unsheathed paw at a thin flash of silver. When her black paw emerged from the water, she smiled at the thought that her first stike at prey was this lucky.
