They See Us Patrollin'... They Hatin'

Nightwing nodded. "I always dreamed of being a leader." She sighed. "I always admired Sagestar, he is so loyal and proud for the clan." Nightwing laughed. "I know it sounds childish, but I want to be just like him." She looked at Gingerheart. "And you could be my deputy!" The warrior added

Gingerheart's expression suddenly turned from a look of surprise to a look of excitement as she thought of the idea. "That would be so awesome! We could be the best leader and deputy the forest has ever seen!" She mewed, although the more she thought about it, the less appealing it seemed to be. She couldn't be outdone. If she was going to be heading to the top, she was going to make sure she was the next in line. Not so much for the power, but the feeling of competition. She didn't like falling behind or having to follow. It was nothing against Nightwing, though. She would have felt that way about anyone. "Maybe one day it would happen that way. I mean, we never know who the next deputy will be. Only Sagestar knows that, but you are right about one thing. Sagestar is the best leader there is!"

Nightwing knew once as Gingerheart reacted that she wanted to try to be leader too. Deciding not to focus on that, she nodded. "Softwhisper is a good medicine cat as well." She stepped over a lightly frosted puddle and took in a deep breath taking in the fresh, crisp air. "Leafbare is coming, He better get her herbs picked." She mewed remembering when he talked about Being medicine cat when she was a kit.

Gingerheart nodded. "Softwhisper is a wonderful medicine cat. But you are right. Maybe sometime we can help him pick some herbs! Although I would have no idea what I would be doing," She mewed, trying to forget about the topic of who was going to be leader. Instead, she focused on the border patrol and the thought of their now active medicine cat.

Nightwing nodded enthusiasticly. "Or, he could pick the herbs and we could escort him around to make sure nothing hurts him." She paused for a quick moment before continuing the thought." Especially near the borders. You can never trust the other clans. You always are trying to take prey." Nightwing weeved around a bush and stepped gingerly into a puddle. " Somethimes I hate puddles because I have to try harder to clean all the mud out of it. She growled crossly at the surrounding puddles.

Gingerheart nodded as she suddenly became aware of all of the puddles that surrounded them. Normally, she didn't even think about walking through them until after she got back to camp and had to clean her fur, but the thought of having to do all that hard work like normal made her think twice about stepping into the muddy water. Now, she simply looked goofy while she tried to avoid walking into any of them. "We could do that! I'm sure Softwhisper wouldn't mind the extra eyes. We could possibly even pitch in a little if he wanted us to!" She mewed.

Nightwing laughed, " I am sure we will do something wrong." She blinked as a frog hopped by, she wasn't in a hunting mood, besides, there would be better prey, like birds near the SkyClan border."We'll, probably tear up the roots by accident." Nightwing purred with amusement."Just like a kit just out of the nursery, they always do something wrong on their first time." The warrior remembered the times they had when they where kits, it felt like so long ago...

Gingerheart simply laughed. "Well of course they do! They don't know what they're doing!" She mewed. "But then again, we don't know what we would be doing either." She then also thought back to kithood. She remembered being so excited to just take a step out of camp. Now it was no big deal. "Oh kits. I wish there were more in the nursery..." she mumbled.

Nightwing shook her head and said nothing, they soon got to the Highpine, She marked the boundaries. Waiting for Gingerheart at the tree, her thoughts where about one cat, Rustfang.
