"Great catch." Sagestar smiled and eyed the creature hanging nimbly from her jaws. At first he looked a bit uncertain at her eagerness; her excitement reminded him that of an excited apprentice more than anything, but tossed the thoughts aside. The tom walked by and flicked her behind the ear some-what playfully and took a few steps forward. He took in a deep-breath and pin-pointed a few frogs by the water. Aiming to catch one, and careful that they didn't see his shadow on the water, he crept forward; waiting for the right moment to pounce.

"Mouse-dung!" He said in disappointment under his breath. Just as luck would have it, one of them caught him coming and the others went flying. The result was Sagestar only making a large splash in the water, getting himself all muddy. "Er - Well..." This was kinda embarrassing. The tom took a few steps back and faced Gingerheart, forcing another smile, though it was much more uneasy this time around. "Maybe we should try around the SkyClan border - we should check it anyways..."

Gingerheart nodded as Sagestar had suggested to check around Skyclan. It seemed to be a good place to continue this hunt, especially if that meant being around the Highpine. They might actually find more mice over there if they looked hard enough, and she was sure that there were lizards galore. "Alright. That sounds like a good place to check," She replied as she began to walk in that direction impatiently, hoping to get there quickly.

Sagestar nodded, taking a few steps ahead of her and shooting her a soft smile as he nodded, quickly wiping it away - a determined expression replacing his face. "We should hurry." He meowed, "Maybe the clan will eat well tonight."
With those words, the tom made a sprint ahead, checking back once or twice to be sure that the light-colored she-cat was still behind him. It wasn't until he paused and stopped around the border to check for prey that he had realized there was something seriously wrong here; a sharp stench of the air.

The young she-cat quickly tried to catch up to her leader as he pelted ahead before stopping dead in her tracks as soon as he froze where he was. "Hey, what's wrong--" She paused as the smell suddenly hit her like one of the monsters on the Thunderpath. What was that horrid stench? It was nothing like she had ever smelled before, and they were on the wrong side of the territory for it to be coming out of the Carrionplace. At a second sniff, she found that it smelled like fleas and... something else. Something unique that she couldn't quite discern. Wrinkling her nose, she began to glance around in warning as her hackles raised and her claws dug into the earth. "What is that horrible smell?" She asked, a little bit of worry in her voice.

IC; Just then, a deep, guttural growl was heard from just across the border. A large and stalky creature appeared, at least three times the size as the cats. It's fur was black and long, with brown marks here and there. The fur was extremely knotted and lacking any shine, and fleas seemed to dance around on it's back. Catching whiff of the easy pray, the dog let out a sharp, seemingly pleased bark and stalked forward, doing a horrible job and being subtle. It's yellow, crooked teeth flashed, dangerously large and sharp. And worst of all- it was coming straight towards Sagestar and Gingerheart.

Sagestar suddenly got down low, taking a few steps back in front of his clanmate protectively, his teeth barred as the mangy creature came into sight. The fur on his back bristled as he tried to warn the creature off, letting out a furious hiss. It must have come in from Twolegplace, though by the looks of it, this starving flea-bag was no Twoleg pet that he had ever seen.
"Dog!" The tom snarled back, "I'll distract it." He meowed. "Run, Gingerheart!" The leader's mind was suddenly racing. This thing was easily several times their size and would probably take a whole patrol to get rid off. He'd just have to lure it away from their territory. ...How he'd do that exactly, he didn't have a clue yet - but he had to do something.
He took a glance at the creature's teeth and felt a small shiver, but grabbed the courage to shove the chills away and pounced forward, unsheathing his claws and aiming to hit the dog's shoulder; wanting to get it's attention and do some damage, but also wanting to stay away from it's grasp.

After a moment, Gingerheart's gaze landed straight on the terrible animal. It looked more like a huge beast than a dog, but then again, that was the first time the warrior had ever seen such a creature. It was more horrifying than the elders and such had made them out to be. It's disgusting yellow teeth continuously distracted her until Sagestar had stepped in front of her view telling her to run.
Run... Did she want to run? It was a strange concept but one that she didn't really want to refuse. Running sounded like a great plan, but she couldn't run back to camp, and if she couldn't do that then she might as well fight, especially for the sake of her leader. She wasn't going to let him fight on his own and she definitely wasn't going to endanger the rest of her clan.
"No!" She cried, as she darted around to the other side of the dog, hoping that if it had its attention on Sagestar, she could get its back-side with no problems at all. As Sagestar leaped for its shoulders, Gingerheart extended her claws and jumped for the creature, letting out a loud caterwaul as she aimed for its back.

The dog howled out and whimpered in pain, but quickly recovered and bit at Sagestar. The noisome creature dug those horribly sharp fangs into Sagestar's side- although for the dog, it was just a small nip. He reared down, hoping to either crush the cat or get it off. It was almost disturbing how the creature could throw around a cat like a squeaky toy, without any thought on the matter. Aside from maybe, Kill, eat, kill. was there any thoughts running through the dog's head? Unlikely.
Crap! The creature didn't think of much, but why wouldn't it consider being ganged up on? No matter, it didn't fear. Both cats were so small and weak, they would have little effect on him. Feeling the pressure of Gingerheart's claws through it's thick furr, the creature spun it's head back quickly, biting at Gingerheart like she was a mere tick. But no matter how much denial the creature was in, it wasn't one to stay in a fight after getting hurt. How much more would it be able to take?

Sagestar was happy to get the dogs' attention and had been considering making a break for the Thunderpath, before his thoughts had been interrupted. With suddenly large eyes, he noticed the she-cat's clear protest as she ran forward, latching herself onto the creature. "Gingerhea -" He hadn't the time to even finish her name before he felt the creature's teeth sink into his pelt.

The tom let out a yowl of pain and tried to dig his claws into the dog's muzzle, clawing at his ears and eyes - though he had no idea or if did anything or not. If it wasn't to hurt the stupid animal, then it was at least to try and help Sagestar stay still before being thrown back on the ground.

For a few moments, he was dazed and out of breath, before slowly regaining himself and quickly jumping back on his feet. Red stained his pelt now, but the leader honestly hardly felt it; focused on watching the dog trying to get Gingerpelt as he had Sagestar himself. The tabby hissed and got down low, bunching his powerful muscles before leaping back unto the other side of the dog as she had done. His claws raked the sides of the creature's thick pelt as he struggled to stay on.

He tried to throw a bite in there too, but only got the taste of filthy fur. Yuck.

The pale ginger tabby let out a cry as she began to lose her grip on the creature's back, especially when the teeth had snapped so close to her. Letting go of where she was at was the only thing she could do to avoid those gnashing teeth, so she slid down its back only to find her claws getting stuck in the dogs matted fur. "Mouse dung!" She scowled, finding herself latched onto its back, finally focusing her attention elsewhere when she saw Sagestar jumping back on the dog. Although, nothing really clicked in her head until she saw the scarlet substance staining her leader's fur. "Sagestar!" She cried worriedly as she started trying to scratch at the dog's skin but to no avail. She was pretty darn stuck.

It wasn't fair! Two against one, they're cheaters! Nevermind the fact the dog was bigger, it still didn't see it as fair. He couldn't focus on two pairs of flying claws at once- the dog could only pay attention to so much. Now filled with a dark, burning rage, the black dog turned it's head back once again- this time getting a good bite into Sagestar. The dog relished in the taste of blood as it's teeth dug into the tom's throat. For a moment, he just stood there, biting down on the cat, before pulling back and flinging the cat off. Not concerned about Sagestar anymore, assuming he'd been finished, the creature turned it's attention to Gingerheart.
The dog barked at her loudly, trying to reach it's prey. Yellow fangs met an orange paw, and it quickly pulled her off, dropping the body on to the ground with a light thub. Without any fight left in them, the dog had lost all interest in the cats. Panting, the now pleased canine strutted away, back to the edge of SkyClan territory. Perhaps back to it's home.

Gingerheart yowled as the dog's disgusting teetch bit straightinto her paw. The sheer psi. was enough for her to give up in that moment, but when she landed on the ground and the dog took off, it infuriated her that it wouldn't stand up to a real fight. Chasing after it with a few limps before stopping so that she didn't leave Sagestar behind, she spat at the creature. "Mice put up more of a fight than that! You coward! That's right, don't come back!" Her teeth bared, she stared at itsshape until she couldn't see it any longer. With one last hiss, she turned back to Sagestar to see that he had yet to move since that nasty bite. But it hadn't been enough to kill him... right? "Sagestar?" She asked in a hushed tone, trying to get the cat's attention.
