| Willowstream turned and smiled warmly at Longpaw. "Maybe some day I can teach you to hunt," she told him, flicking his ear with her tail. "But for now, let's focus on the herbs. We're going to our border with Shadowclan, where we'll find catmint." After a short while, the two medicine cats reached the plant. The ground was somewhat wet and marshy, making a squishing sound under their paws.
The she-cat stopped a little ways away, not wanting to get her white paws too muddy and wet. "This is catmint," she mewed. "Smell it. It's nearly irresistible to us, but must only be used for whitecough, greencough, and black cough. There is no need for a poultice; the patient can chew it themselves." |

| "Willowstream, I'm scared, I heard a Shadowclan cat crossed our border and took one of Butterflystar's lives" he complained his fur bristling with fear barley listening to his mentor, he didn't like the fact they were so close to Shadowclan border. |

| Willowstream had to refrain from rolling her eyes. "We're medicine cats," she told Longpaw. "Shadowclan wouldn't attack us. Did you hear a word I said about catmint?" |

| "Ya, I heard." she meowed looking away still afraid it would pop out. "Catmint, it helps with greencough, blackcough, and....uh, Whitecough! ya thats it!" he purred forgetting about Shadowclan instantly, Longpaw swatted at a fly, again getting distracted, but as it flew away he padded back.
OOC: I had to do that to make a bigger sentence. |

| OoC: You can make longer sentences by adding detail about the expressions your cat is making, such as Longpaw beaming because he was confident, or him sitting up taller when he realized he was right.
Willowstream sighed and nodded begrudgingly. Next, she pointed out a small clump of flowers. They came in a few colors, mainly an orangey-gold color. "Those are marigolds," she told Longpaw. "You've probably heard of them. Can you guess what they do?" |

| "Um, stop infection?" he meowed with question, his brown eyes stared into Willowstream's eyes, "Willowstream, doesn't uh, Horsetail do the same?" he asked, he flicked his ginger pelt of dirt and grass and then again looked up at his mentor. He wasn't really paying attention but all he had to do was act that he was and only listen enough to know the treatment and its name and looks. |

| "Yes, marigold stops infection," Willowstream mewed in a praising voice. "The difference between marigold and horsetail is that marigold must be chewed into a pulp while only the juice from horsetail is used." The tortoiseshell she-cat turned and began padding in a different direction, nervously glancing at the position of the sun. It was just after sunhigh, leaving them little time to get more done.
OoC: I sincerely hope that I have a diligent apprentice who is willing to put the effort needed into being a medicine cat. It would be good if you knew this stuff. |

| Longpaw stood tall proudly the sun made his ginger fur shine as he smiled on triumph of being right. The apprentice purred in delight and looked at the sun. "Cool." he meowed "Anymore herbs to find before we go home?" he asked.
OOC: Longpaw was just made an apprentice so he's kind of 'kit-ish' feeling still but he is listening. |

| OoC: Your last post suggested that he wasn't listening.
Answering, Willowstream said, "Just a couple more. I need to collect some cobwebs, chervil roots, poppy seeds, and lavender." She continued to lead her apprentice across the moor. Soon, she began picking up speed, knowing that if they didn't hurry, it would be dark by the time they made it back. |

| OoC: al;sfdua'fkhandhf we need to get your training done ;-;
Finally, they arrived somewhere in the middle of Windclan territory. A few other plants stood there, and Willowstream quickly rattled them off, picking each one she named. "Chervil root is for bellyaches," she told Longpaw, hardly pausing before continuing. "Poppy seeds help soothe pain and put the patient to sleep, and lavender is nearly the same as feverfiew. It helps chills, fevers, and coughs." The medicine cat pawed some of the herbs to her apprentice, gesturing that he should carry some back to camp. |

| Reaching down he wrapped his jaws around some stems, sure to leave some so it can grow back. Getting to his paws he had a mouthful of poppy and chervil he nodded and stopped a yawn himself, he looked to the sky and closed his eyes for a moment to soak it in and then looked back to his mentor. |

| "Well, that was a productive day," Willowstream purred, beaming at Longpaw. "We'll go back to camp now and get some rest. You did well."
OoC: End of herb training. |

| "Yes!" he muffled through fur. He wanted to sleep with the other apprentices but he knew he wasn't allowed to be with Foxpaw. |
