Le Sarrow's Herb and Battle Training

since this worked so well for tawnypaw, why not~

Ebonyroot and a dark brown tabby named Hawktalon waited in a clearing of what seemed to be in the ThunderClan forest.

Sarrowpaw padded over, seeing the sparkling figures. She dipped her head in respect, then sat down and neatly curled her tail over her paws. "What will we learn today, Ebonyroot?..And....?" Sarrowpaw looked at the cat she hadn't yet met.

"My name is Hawktalon..." He dipped his head, "I am a former Medicine Cat and Warrior of ShadowClan, and I be helping with your training today."
"You must have had heard a few things or two from around your clan." Ebonyroot looked over Sarrowpaw with a calm gaze. "Tell us everything you know about herbs so far."

"Well...I know that marigold is good for infections, cobwebs stop bleeding, poppy can help a cat sleep, and ease pain, and mouse bile helps remove ticks, and juniper is good for bellyache. Oh, and catmint is good for coughs. Honey for sore throat. That's all I know."

"Very good. It's nice to know that you have the everyday remedies down..." Ebonyroot praised the small coffee-colored apprentice "You still have much to learn though. I'm going to throw most everything at you tonight, but I don't expect you to remember it all. Let's start with these three herbs; your queens should be able to recognize them..."
The ShadowClan she-cat drug her claws out of the ground, and as if time were sped up in the spot for only a few moments, three different plans sprung out of the ground.
The first had short and prickly leaves with sharp hairs and small, bright blue flowers.
The second had large, pale leaves and small bright red berries.
The last had no flowers, but bright green rigged leaves plentiful and bunched together.
"Can you tell me what these are?" she asked, not expecting Sarrowpaw to know the answer, but asking anyways.

She looked at the dark red berries first. "I think those are deathberries, Ebonyroot, and Hawktalon." She looked at the blue-flowered plants secondly, and scrunched up her face, puzzled. "I'm not quite sure what those are...Or the flowerless ones...Sorry..."[/color]She confessed, looking at them again.

Ebonyroot smiled warmly in amusement. "No... Deathberries are small and round, I won't be showing you those, only ShadowClan uses them when they absolutely have too." She picked one of the berries of and stuck it on her claw, holding it close to Sarrowpaw. "Look at how many ridges it has, and the little hairs on the side? This is a Raspberry. You give it to a queen when she's kitting and it helps stops the pain and bleeding if something goes wrong." she set it down and looked to the two other plants.
With her tail she pointed to the one with lots of small leaves. "This is Chervil. It does the same thing -- and this is Borage." She pointed to the plant with small flowers. "It's very important to give this to queens near before their pregnant and after birth. It helps produce more milk for the kits. Do you understand all of this?" she finished.

Sarrowpaw nodded. "Yes, I understand." She looked at the dazzling herbs, trying to remember their appearance for real-world confrontation.

"And this..." The plants in front of them disappeared and a new one appeared, it had vast-wide stretching leaves. "Is Comfrey. Dig the roots out, if you please."

Sarrowpaw quickly dug out the plants roots, also being careful. She gently pulled them out, and set them by her paws. Her eyes lit up and her voice was bright as she said "I know what these do!"

"And what is that?" Ebonyroot purred with slight amusement.

"They help heal broken bones...Right?" Sarrowpaw replied, hoping deeply she was right.

"That's right." Hawktalon yawned from his place, checking for dirt in between his nails. "Try chewing it up into a poultice."

Sarrowpaw nodded and ducked down, grabbing one of the roots in her jaws. It was stiff, and she had a hard time chewing it, but after a long while she got it into a poultice.

"Your jaws will harden over time and it'll get easier... You need to learn to work quick if your going to be a medicine cat." Ebonyroot said quietly.
Hawktalon said down and a small, unnatural fog quickly passed by him. As it disappeared, it left him with a broken hind leg... Or, at least, it seemed to be broken. It didn't look like it was hurting him at all. "Now put it to work." he flicked his tail.
