The Lost One

Moonpaw sat by the edge of the blackened ground, curled up. He was shivering, but he refused to go back, to see his uncle's dead body. He'd rather die out here and join them. But on the other side of the Thunderpath, he heard rustling... and he looked up to see-

A black and white she-cat with thick fur, not unlike Moonpaw's own, sniffing a border that almost definitely did not belong to her clan. If she had looked up, she would have immediately become hostile; she did not recognize her brother any more, as he hadn't been to any Gatherings. She only had vague memories of playing in Shadowclan's nursery.

Moonpaw got up, and looked at Heathersong in the eyes. He didn't recognize her, but something told him she was friendly.

A monster rushed past, causing Heathersong to flick her gaze up and shrink back into the bushes lining the road. After the Twoleg thing had gone past, she happened to look across the road, and saw two big blue eyes looking back at her. Her hackles rose, and she laid back her ears.
"What are you doing over here?!" she shouted, just before another monster zoomed by.

"Heathersong..." He whispered. It all came back to him, in that moment, staring into her ice blue eyes, dark as the sky itself. "Heathersong!" He called out again, racing across, not noticing the monster racing towards him. It roared at him several times, but made no attempt to go around him. Time seemed to slow as it was nearly on top of him...

In that split second, Heathersong did the single most stupidest yet heroic thing of her life. With a burst of strength to her hind legs, she leapt out into the road, bowling Moonpaw out of the way. Before she herself could move, however, the monster's paws rumbled over the queen's hind legs, causing her to cry out, and then fade into blackness.

Moon felt world spin into a blur and flew backwards. When he turned around, the monster had moved to the side of the Thunderpath, and Two-legs were getting out to examine the unconscious Heathersong. Moonpaw, filled with anger and sadness and a mix of everything in between, roared with a fury unknown to him. He nearly flew to his sibling and crouched protectively over her, and he looked so intimidating in those few moments every Two-leg there took a step back. He grabbed her by the scruff and attempted to tug her across, and just barely made it as more monsters came. Luckily he was on the Windclan side, and then proceeded to continue carrying her to camp, as difficult as it was.

OoC: Poor guy. Can you imagine being warrior sized and still an apprentice? lol


About halfway across Windclan territory, Heathersong regained consciousness. She felt a horribly numbing pain from her hind legs, and she squeaked, causing Moonpaw to stop.
"Don't...take me...any further," she panted. "Just...get...help."

(IKR?! Damnit Jhey >.<)

He set her down very gently. "Wait here. " He whispered softly. He was off like lightning for the medicine cat.

(He was in shock from Lime's death, but he's beginning to recover)

Exhausted, Heathersong laid back her head, and in a sudden flash, she remembered who the tom was. Her older brother who she had abandoned on the wild guess that she had originated in Windclan. This was her last thought as she closed her eyes and focused on breathing, only to pass out once more.

Wildheart was just dosing in camp as a strange cat came in. He looked up, noticing the terror in his eyes. "What is it?" He asked.
OOC: That's your cue, Swuft!

"Heathersong, by the Thunderpath! She got hit by a monster, and it crushed her legs. I came as quickly as I could. Please, come help me!" He called, as he began to race back to his fallen sibling.

Wildstar ran over to Heathersong. "Oh my gosh!" He said and started to drag her back to camp.

Moonpaw fiddled nervously. "Erm... may I come with you?" He asked awkwardly.
