Memories....

Hollywhisper snuck out of camp one night. She walked to the river, going for a swim. As she swam, her head hit a rock. The only effort she made was to get to the shore & be able to be found by a Clanmate. Her life flashed before her eyes.

She & Cherryfern, when they were still apprentices, along with Lightningshock, who had also been an apprentice, playing in the river. Then of all her lessons with Brightstream, her mentor. Then of the time, not long ago, she had woken up & rolled in the fresh grass, welcoming the spring. Then of her kit. Then of the times she'd spent with Sandnose. She would be joining her friends now. She was sure of that. Tears were in her eyes as she thought of Dawnkit. Her daughter... She'd never wanted this to happen. She didn't want her kit to be like she had been as a kit. Lonely, sad, without any family. Hopefully, someone in her Clan would tell her daughter about her mother. She thought about all the good times. She thought about all the bad times. She thought about her best friends.

Then she lay there, lifeless.

Drowzily, finding out that she was terribly hungry, Pinestar padded up to the fresh-kill pile. She snatched a vole and gulped it down. The scent of death reeked in the air. She followed the smell and spotted a familiar cat. "HOLLYWHISPER!" she yowled. She bounded to the dead cat and nudged her. "Hollywhisper!? Hollywhisper are you okay!? Say something! Anything!" She pressed her nose into her flank. Not hearing a word out of the warrior, she turned away in grief. She'd lost everyone close to her (besides sleepy and lion). Everyone's dying. Is it because of me? Am I just a horrible leader? What will Dawnkit say..? Pinestar sat there silently.

Hollywhisper's spirit stood in front of Pinespirit, visible only to her. "It's not because of you," she whispered softly, as though she had read her thoughts. "It was my time. StarClan wished it so."

OOC: sorry to post...farewell Holly, you shall be missed. I bet Cherry will read this and be so sad, but anyway, RiverClan is growing smaller by the day. Sorry to hear that. I think I'm going to make my 3rd life RiverClan to help you out!

ic: Pinestar's head still hung gloomly. "It wasn't your time to go. RiverClan needed you.."

"You'll see me again. Sooner than you think," Hollywhisper said softly. Though you won't recognize me, not likely, she added silently. "Wait for the flower that blooms from within, yet holds so much sadness inside," she spoke even softer now, as though her voice was a breeze. "By the way," she added, louder than before, "I have two requuests. Could you bury me by the river, here? And, when she's old enough to understand, will you tell Dawnkit about me, & that I hadn't wanted her to have my past, without a family?"

Pinestar nodded solemnly. What does she mean? she thought.
