Ebonyroot sheathed her claws and batted gently at his head. "You can't beat me!"

"Yes I can!" Sunkit cried. He leapt at her and landed on her back, holding onto her with his thorn-sharp little claws. He gently bit at her.

"No, no!" Ebonyroot meowed, shaking her body. "Get off me, please!"

"No!" The kit cried playfully, biting her a bit harder.

"No, please!" She wailed lightly, then collapsed on the floor, dramatically let all the air in her lungs out.

Sunkit climbed off her and crept close to her face, looking fearful. "Ebonyroot?" he whispered. "Are you dead?"

"I think so." She whispered back.

"Hey!" Sunkit cried. He poked her nose.

Ebonyroot sneezed. "It's not nice to poke dead people..." She muttered.

"You can't talk if you're dead!" He scoffed.

"Yes, I can!" she claimed. "I'm magic."

"Nuh uh!" Sunkit mewed. He leapt on her again. "You're not magic!"

"Sure I am." She smiled, but still laid still with her eyes closed. "All medicine cats are."

He sat on her. "That's silly!"

She let out an oof.
"You're heaver then you look!" She lifted her head. "No, it's not. Just like in your clan, Brightkit is magic."
