Featherfall walked swiftly toward the apprentice den. "Fallenpaw! It is time for your assessment!" The deputy hollered deep into the bowls of the occupied den.

Fallenpaw's eyes flew open and he hopped to his paws. My...my assessment! His heart thumped so loud he could have sworn his mother could hear it. "R-really?"

"Now, all you have to do is catch as much prey as you can, and bring it back to camp before sun down. Don't worry, I'll be watching the whole time." Featherfall purred. "Go!" She said.

Fallenpaw scrambled out of the den, and raced into the open moorland. He picked up rabbit scent, and began tracking in down, ears laid back. He spotted it, nibbling on a heather stalk. He sprung forward and snapped it's neck neatly. He buried the kill and moved on. He had his parent's hunting skill, surely?

He hopped over the tiny mound of dirt and moved on, catching sight of a field mouse. He pounced and killed it with pristine agility.

Fallenpaw spotted another rabbit, and slunk in behind it. He tripped on a stone and missed. He hopped up frustratedly and began the search once more.

Fallenpaw darted behind a massive clump of ferns and spied on a wood grouse. But the thing flew right into his face, and scraped his ear. The white apprentice jumped back, spitting. Oh...it's eggs. He stared down at the eggs he'd almost crushed.
