Did I play games in my youth?..
Being on the territory again was like a breath of fresh air. Vitality back to his bones that had become achey and stiff with misuse. The patrol was the least of his worries. Not that he could disappear from sight for too long, but he had full intentions of no longer requiring an escourt in time. The second he could, he turned his paws for the moors. He had told her to wait for him, once. Not long before the star betrayed him, made his prisoner in his own home. Home, whatever that was meant to feel like. He could only hope that, perhaps, she had kept the habit. Little moonglow, following their routine and hoping each day would be the one in which he returned. This time, he had.
He put his paws on the edge of the thunderpath. It stank, as always, made his nose crinkle. He turned his head, left and right. He could smell little but acid and grasses on the breeze through his parted mouth. He turned his head over his shoulder; his patrol was long out of earshot now. Returning his attention back, he softly called; "Moonpaw?"

Moondrop hadn't seen Wolfpaw in moons and, now that she thought about it, hadn't heard any news of him either. Anxiety prickled at her paws that he'd been hurt or killed but, surely, if something bad had happened, she'd have heard something about it. She desperately wanted to ask after him, but the last gathering she'd gone to had been such a disaster that she absolutely refused to go to another one. Stars. She felt so guilty not doing more to look for Wolfpaw, but she just couldn't bring herself to go. She really was useless.
For all she knew, that rogue had hurt Wolfpaw and had hidden him somewhere! Still, the young warrior continued visiting the border every few nights in the hopes that she'd happen across Wolfpaw someday. She'd be happy to even just see another ShadowClanner who could tell her what had happened to him. Well, not that she could trust them to tell her the truth. What if she met that rogue or one of his sympathizers? She couldn't trust the information of a stranger to be accurate if what her friend had told her was true. She just wished that Wolfpaw was here to tell her what to do now.
She'd been useless at helping her clan and even more useless against the wolves. But...maybe she could come up with a plan to find Wolfpaw? As Moondrop drew to the border, brainstorming ways to sneak into ShadowClan's camp, it quickly became clear that she hardly needed to be concerned about that anymore. Wolfpaw's familiar voice cut through the quiet night and the rock that had been forming in Moondrop's chest for moons suddenly seemed to vanish. With a surprised squeal, she raced towards the sound of Wolfpaw's voice, her green eyes wide with astonishment.
"w-wolfpaw!" The sight of him made her heart flutter. "where've you been? i ain't seen ya in moons, wolfpaw! i was..." She hesitated, eyes stinging with tears, and took a hesitant step closer. "i was real worried f'ya." She scraped at the ground nervously with a paw, his gaze on her every bit as intense as she remembered it being.

Without so much as an ounce of hesitation, he moved across the Thunderpath. There was a faint rumbling of monster somewhere off in the distance, but that did not matter. He stopped only when he was in front of her, craning his neck forward (it still ached somewhat, Quillsplash bit deep), and resting his chin atop her head. He closed his eyes, took in her scent. More WindClan than before. He did not smell any immediate wounds on her, though a bloodied scent somewhat lingered. She was at that Gathering, perhaps?
"I acted, little moon," He rumbled, voice gruff and taut from above her. "My sister. She was in danger. The rogues I mentioned, you remember? They were hurting her. So I put a stop to it. But my Clan, my leader, they did not believe me. And so they imprisoned me for all those moons I was away."
He moved back, leaning down so that he was eye-level with her. Large, dark eyes stared unfeelingly into her sheened ones, and he blinked. Some semblance of sharing an emotion. "Do not cry," He meowed. "I am here. And I am unharmed."

Moondrop froze at the sudden approach of another cat, alarms sounding in her head at the speed at which they were upon her. First, all she could smell was the stench of ShadowClan but then, the forever recognizable undertone of Wolfpaw - unmistakable and comforting. He wrapped himself around her before she could utter another word and she melted into the embrace, curling her body around his in turn. The proximity made her heart soar, a soft purr rising in her throat at the feeling of him at her side again.
She opened her eyes after a few moments and started at the still angry wounds peppered along the length of his neck. They seemed healed for the most part, but her stomach twisted regardless of the thought him receiving such an injury. He spoke, finally explaining what had kept him for so long, and she closed her eyes against the story, worry tugging at her heart. Had his own clan really turned against him, then? Had they punished him for doing what was right? She grimaced, furious on his behalf. How could they?
A few moments later, Wolfpaw drew back and Moondrop did the same, after some hesitation. It pained her to pull back from him after finally reuniting, but she shoved the feeling away and met his gaze, her eyes still wet. "y'got hurt. that rogue...he hurt'cha." She eyed his neck for a moment before allowing her gaze to move back to Wolfpaw's own. "and he turned y'clan 'gainst'cha. that's'a kinda hurt too." She couldn't even imagine WindClan turning their backs to her in any similar situation. How horrible Wolfpaw must feel, right now. Had his family betrayed him as well?
Still, Moondrop tried to reign in her emotions and stop her tears. If not for herself, then for Wolfpaw. She wanted to help him, for once, instead of the other way around. She didn't want to be useless. He deserved better from her and she was willing to give it. "what're we gonna do?"
