She didn’t know how she knew. StarClan was a big place, Copperlark could just be avoiding her, right? But Blazefang’s motherly instinct said otherwise. Her paws seemed to carry themselves to the edge of the Mist. She could barely see into the veil, not daring to put a pawstep beyond the border. Not unless she knew where Copper was for sure. Finally, she laid her heart open in the form of a poem called into the wind.

”Fate has been cruel and order unkind
How is it I drove you away?
The blame was my own, the punishment, yours
The harmony's silent today
But into the stillness I'll bring you a song

Once did a warrior who shone like the sun

Soon did that warrior take notice that others
Did not give her daughter her due
And neither had she loved her as she deserved
She watched as her daughter’s unhappiness grew
But such is the way of the limelight, it sweetly
Takes hold of the mind of its host
And that foolish warrior did nothing to stop
The destruction of one who had needed her most
