There were a few places in the forest, where Wolfstar felt the closest to the living. Fourtrees was one of those places. Perhaps it was because of the amount of clan cats that gathered here every moon. Perhaps it was all the bloodshed and death that the starry dirt beneath his paws had seen in the material world. He couldn't see the full picture of the Gathering's chaos - only blurs, delayed streaks of color and movement... but what was on the outside world didn't matter to him, at this moment in time. The lanky black tom settled back on his haunches and curled his tail around his paws as he waited for the figure before him to stir into consciousness.
Wolfstar. His namesake. The irony of her death being caused by their namesake, was not lost on him. The old leader let a breath out through his nostrils and leaned in, his wide golden eyes would be the first thing the she-cat would see when she opened hers.
"I will not keep you long," he said gently. "You are needed out there." As she straightened, the tom did too. "It pains me to see you in such a state, but regardless, I have wisdom to impart that you seem in need of - so if this is the way I can deliver it easiest, so be it." He flicked his tail, pausing for a moment before continuing. "You shoulder your responsibility well, Wolfstar, and you are a good leader... but it will be to your own detriment to proceed on this path without the support of those closest to you."
The tom smiled, tight, but affectionate. "You pull away so that they do not see you struggle, but you will never stop struggling as long as you are alone. Let them in, keep them close. Share your burden." He took a quick breath. "If you've a question for me, make it quick, young one. We have precious little time. Otherwise - may the next time I see you be under better circumstance."

POPPYSTAR
Just stop your crying...
Poppystar could not afford to watch to check that her clan was fighting back as instructed; she could only focus on the beast directly in front of her. She managed to avoid the swiping claws from the wolf, but she saw that Wolfstar was not so lucky—she was swiftly discarded away and Poppystar’s yell caught in her throat.
“You’ll regret foolishly coming here,” she hissed to the wolf. She doubted the beast could understand her. Poppystar leapt forward, biting down again. Metallic blood tasted upon her tongue and dripped down her jaw.
She saw Willowwisp appear at her side, joining in the attack. It was a relief to have more of her clan at her side. It wouldn’t be long before this wolf would move no more—or so she hoped.
Poppystar attacked Wolf 1 with Bite, dealing 13 damage and costing 5 EP.
Pineblossom hissed when the wolf struck back against her clanmates. Her eyes narrows and she watched blood spew from their wounds. She managed to avoid it, thankfully, but she would not pull back in this fight. Her claws sunk into the wolf again.
Pineblossom used Claw on Wolf 2, dealing 13 damage and costing 5 EP.
Willowwisp said nothing as she continued to engage with the wolf. Her sights were set wholly on taking this beast down before any of her clan could get injured.

Larkspring met Cindersky’s gaze and was relieved to find that she was not going to defy orders and try to get close to those beasts. He nodded; of course he would follow, wherever she led. He moved with her, gathering up any apprentices that came and he picked out a couple other warriors along the way to help lead them back. He glanced over his shoulder at the the cats piling onto the wolves and grimaced. If it was only two wolves, casualties should be low…He hoped that no more would show their maws.
Larkspring is with Cindersky, helping elders, queens, and apprentices of RiverClan safely out of the Gathering.

LILYVALLEY
If we did what was easy
The wolf swiped out at the cats, and Lilyvalley let out a hiss, despite not being hit herself. Her eyes narrowed, as she tried to gauge her next move. Cats all around her were yelling, some battle cries, some gathering those closest to them. She tried her hardest to block out the noise, to focus on the task at hand. To bring these monsters down.
The fear scent in the clearing was almost choking her, although seeing these creatures, Lilyvalley couldn't blame a cat for being scared. Already, one of the leaders had been killed. She could only be thankful that it had not been Leopardstar that had fallen as she raked her claws down the wolf's side.
Lilyvalley used claw, dealing 13 damage and costing 5 EP
Distantly, Adderpaw heard the voice of Sageroot among the cacophony, trying to gather the apprentices. On one paw, Adderpaw probably should have heeded that call.
But she was already in this battle. And she was not about to back out now.
The wolf lashed out, and she used the opportunity to dart in again, once again raking the foul beast with her claws. Acornstar and Sageroot could punish her later. After this thing had been killed.
And in the name of Gekala, she would kill this thing.

Thistlepaw locked eyes with Leopardwind, and if he wasn't scared before, he definitely felt fear clench his heart at that look in his eyes. One thing Leopardwind had always been was confident.
He also knew exactly what Leopardwind was about to do. There would be no stopping his brother from charging into that battle.
So instead, he offered a stiff nod. "Don't get yourself killed."
Before they could even part ways, Thistlepaw heard a scream that made his heart drop. He turned around, searching for his sister. She had been right there! Where was she?
He felt a fury like no other when he spotted her. Her beautiful pelt bloodied.
His jaw clenched as he rushed to her side. He wanted to tear that wolf apart for even thinking about touching his sister.
But he had to get her out of here. "Foxpaw! Help me get Moldpaw on my back! She- she's hurt! We need to get her out of here!"
For the first time ever, Thistlepaw thought he might cry. He couldn't- no, he wouldn't let anything happen to her. She... she was going to be just fine. He refused any other outcome. He and Foxpaw would get her safe, and she would be able to recover. His sister was going to be okay.
"Somebody help me here!"
Thistlepaw is desperately begging for help.
Now I'm slippin' through the cracks of your cold embrace

Fernpaw
he/him : shadowclan : apprentice
With Wolfpaw in trouble and Hedgepaw deciding to stay home, the Shadowclan apprentice's usual reasons for attending were absent. However, after recent events, he'd begun to feel a greater need to be as informed on clan happenings as possible. Due to how sudden and out of place his brother's attack seemed to him, the back of his mind helplessly itched. Did I not see the signs? Have I not been paying enough attention? It kneaded his brain along the way to Fourtrees until by the time they arrived a quiet headache had nested right above his furrowed brow. Fernpaw settled near Pineblossom who chose to sit at the edge of the clearing. This way, strangers wouldn't try to talk to him. The apprentice watched and listened to each leader intently until they'd all spoken their keep. Now it was time to go home.
If only.
A nightmarish howl swallowed every other sound. His body froze, eyes still stuck on the Highrock as a massive beast lunged forth and took Wolfstar in its jaws. Then another pounced Leopardstar. In barely a second the colors of many different cats -his mother included- swarmed the monsters. Wolves, Fernpaw realized with a rising panic. These things still stalked his dreams. Seeing them again made him wish this was anything but real. Then Leopardstar's voice ran out. She did not demand her warriors to flee, but rather, she urged them to defend. Fernpaw knew she was right. He was not a kitten like last time. Now, he was going to be a warrior. After all, his dreams hadn't only been of wolves, but of fighting them! Now was the time to act on those fantasies.
He raced into the crowd. Some cats ran with him, some ran against him, and some were just standing in his way. In his struggle to get to the fight, he came across a familiar voice calling his name. "Juniperhunt!" he called back. Fernpaw turned to the panicked molly as she closed the distance between them. He saw the fear in her face just as clearly as it showed on his own. "Listen, two wolves just attacked the leaders. We need to defeat them before they can hurt anyone else, understand?" The nearby sound of teeth snapping and booming barks struck his heart with terror, especially as he imagined the damage they could do to him or her. Trying not to shake, he pressed his flank against hers. "Don't be afraid. We'll keep each other safe."
The first thing Wolfstar became aware of was the lack of pain as she blinked open her eyes. A pair of golden eyes stared back at her, and the fluffy leader's fur lifted as her head snapped up, taking in the familiar surroundings of fourtrees... That was covered in stars. As was the semi-familiar dark tom who sat before her.
"Foxdung." Wolfstar muttered. The tom she was named after cut right to the chase, promising that he would not keep her long. With the situation that had just sent her to these starry lands, Wolfstar felt no relief at that. "With how often I've been taking apprentices to the moonstone, you needed me to die to offer wisdom, really?" She asked, incredulous. "A set or two of paws would serve me better than wisdom, I think." She added uncharitably, tail lashing. The wolves in the clearing were far too capable of causing harm, even with the swarm of clan cats fighting them. And Skyclan had more problems to worry about than just this gathering gone wrong. Wolfstar couldn't afford for her warriors and apprentices to be injured. Which is what would happen if she lingered here too long.
Still, she took in the former leader's words with a wince. He wasn't... Entirely wrong that she'd kept her struggles hidden. Or tried to. "It would be unfair to them. I don't need to add to burdens that are already there." She protested. Somewhere along the way her clan had become filled with cats that were much too young to experience such suffering, much less have a cat they were supposed to lean on, lean on them instead.
"You aren't wrong that I should keep them close, though." For all that Skyclan was a close-knit clan, as of late that closeness had seemed more... Superficial. Withdrawing as she had after the dogs had descended on camp... Maybe had not been the best thing. But it had felt safer, easier. But she hadn't been the only one suffering. Wolfstar's tail lashed as that thought sank in, a low huff leaving her.
"I'll... I'll try." She wouldn't have the chance to try if she lost her clanmates here too these beasts, while she spoke with a ghost from the past. "Send me back."
Blood swam in dark rivulets through the young wolf's thick coat and, as more and more claws burrowed into his flesh, he could feel his fur growing wetter and heavier by the moment. Howling his agony, he tried to free himself of sharp claws and teeth, but it all seemed to be in vain. For every cat he knocked back, two more came to take their place in this foul battle of foes. He could no longer tell whose blood was whose, though it seemed as though much of the blood staining the once quiet hollow belonged to him and his sister. No more games - he had to take down as many as he could.
Adrenaline pumped through the wolf's veins, though, ensuring that the excruciating pain of his wounds felt as though little more than distant pings of sensation in the back of his mind. Movement from the horde drew his attention, then, and he glanced over as a path opened through the chaos. For a brief moment, time slowed, and he set his gaze on a small she-cat with frizzy fur and a wild look of panic in her eyes. Unsuspecting, helpless, weak.
He had to take down as many as he could. Shaking off the little bodies that clung to his pelt, he shouldered he way forward, attention set on the little yowling feline. Instinct drove him forward, but it was the willingness to give in that had his teeth bared. Moonlight glinted off of his fangs - the only warning of his approach - and he brought his teeth down upon her with a pleasing snap of bones. Snarling, he shook the small cat's body in his jaws for several moments, eyes spinning as its lifeblood spattered to the ground.
He relished in the satisfaction of a swift kill for a few second longer before, panting, he dropped the body and turned to the even smaller cat his most recent victim had been with. Another little life to take. A fresh wave of energy coursed through the young wolf, and he grinned. Spinning, he was upon the other cat in an instant, jaws snapping around its head. Teeth scraping bone, he released the little thing and watched as it hit the ground with a thud some distance away. Who was next!? Which foolish cat would deign themselves able to bring him down with their brittle fangs and feeble claws?

A soft yelp escaped Acornstar as the wolf sent the horde of cats scattering, stumbling to the ground with a pained groan. Her chest hurt, her breathing was strained but she pushed herself to her paws with a grimace. Something felt wrong, but it was hard to put a paw on it in the moment - hard to take stock when her eyes were focused on the situation at paw. Wolfstar still hadn't stirred and the wolf - her eyes flickered to locate the wolf to see it dropping a limp body from its jaws before it made a leap at a smaller cat, sending them across the clearing.
Her body ached at the effort as she sprinted after the wolf, leaping at its shoulders as she hooked her claws in and bit down with all of the force she could muster - they had to end this soon before more lives were lost! She wasn't sure how the other beast was looking but she prayed that it was looking as wounded at this one.

(OOC: Really quick posts, sorry for no templates!)
Poppystar gritted her teeth as the wolf lashed out against more cats surrounding them. She swore she saw one cat take a blow that was surely fatal, but she could barely think enough to consider it. He teeth tore at the wolf again, dripping blood onto the stone and grass below.

Willowwisp was close to follow behind her leader, tearing her claw through the wolf's pelt. Couldn't these beasts see that they were outmatched? They only continued to tear and bite and try to make a meal out of the clans. Willowwisp would not have it. She leapt close, trying to tear the wolf down.

Wolfstar's eyes snapped open, a pained cough escaping her as she raised her head. Pain shot through her body, but Starclan had healed whatever had killed her, at least. Around her the air was filled with the scent of blood and the sounds of chaos. For a moment all she could do was stare at the beast that loomed above, so easily tossing another cat aside. Her clanmates still fought - her grandkits, her apprentice, her deputy. Acornstar and Poppystar too, she noted, as well as a horde of other cats.
At least the life taken had been from a leader who had them to spare, and not one of those who wouldn't manage to get up from such a vicious attack. The cat the wolf had so easily tossed aside likely wouldn't move for a good while, but Wolfstar couldn't focus on that while such a clear threat remained to them all. Her namesake had been right, they needed her. Clanmate or not, friend or not.
The leader forced herself to move, staggering to her paws, pale gaze locked on the wolf that was being swarmed by so many cats. For a moment, she could have swore the dumb beast looked afraid, but it didn't matter. It was still attacking, it was still standing. She dove back into the fray, claws arcing upward and slicing through thick, shaggy fur. She was already coated in blood, what was a little more if it meant one beast would fall?
She was sure if Thymelight or Smokepetal were around the medicine cats would have told her to sit this out, to recover... But they weren't here and there was no chance of that happening. Not while so much was at stake.
Wolfstar used Claw for -5 ep, dealing -13 damage. Wolf 1 is done.

They had lost. She knew it. They were fools, thinking they could take so many in their much weakened state. She staggered forward, snarling at the vermin surrounding her. It was too late to run, the scent of her brother's blood hung thick in the air. Even so, she was no coward. Her brother chose to fight, so she would stand with him until it was over. She knew it wouldn't be long before she found herself greeting death, but she refused to be forgotten. She would be sure these rats remembered her for the rest of their days. Her thoughts were interrupted by a flurry of feline fury flying at her, leaving her snarling and bloody.
Yes... this one. This one had been her mark from the beginning.
She would take this one with her.
Lunging forward with a bark that bordered almost on something akin to a desperate, bloodthirsty shriek, the she-wolf reared up onto her hind legs to slam her massive forepaws down in a crushing blow. She didn't care about preserving her kills anymore. Before she fell she would do all she could to make them remember.
Whirling, the wolf wildly swung her now bloodied paws at a clump of the pests beside her.
Remember me!

Webpaw Swimming through the Milky Way I wanna break away and take the leap Since we’re falling anyway No moon to rise would be okay with me
constructedincongruently
It happened in a blur. one moment Webpaw had been ripping into the thing in front of her with Briarpatch beside her, the next she was watching her mother get crushed. Webpaw let out a hollow wheeze accompanied by the smallest, agonized whimper. Leopardstar wasn't moving. Mom wasn't moving. Webpaw's eyes were so fixed on her mother's pelt she didn't see the heavy paw until it was slamming into her, knocking her aside. Shockwaves of pain rocked her body, and for a brief moment she just... laid there. Hurting.
... Mom?
Her mind hadn't caught up with what just happened, still reeling. Numbly, she staggered to her paws. Something very warm was free flowing from a jagged slice over her shoulder, neck, and a little bit of her face but somehow she didn't actually register it. Her mind was foggy, but it wasn't done. The monster was still here. Mom wasn't okay. They had to help mom.
Stumbling forward clumsily, she threw herself at the thing and bit down again, thrashing her head till she felt something rip.
