Cindersky
I loved you...
When Cindersky had paused to think about it, she had realised she had not spoken to Pigeonpounce. Not ever, if memory served correctly. That sure as stars would not do. Not when, well, it was the three of them against the world; her, Poppyshine, and Pigeonpounce. She had sounded like a timid apprentice when she asked the other she-cat to accompany her. When they had decided on hunting, she wasn't sure. The weather was nice, though. There was a chilly breeze, and it was still relatively warm. Less humid than the moons prior, thank StarClan.
Her problem now was that, well, she did not know the first thing about Pigeonpounce except for her name, and that she used to be a warrior. She supposed they had that in common, a change in ranks roughly around the same time. Pigeonpounces change was more drastic, though. And it was strange to see her where, well... Strange to see her coming from the den, where some days she still expected to see a small brown and white shape step out in the morning, and give her his best smile. Her heart twisted, and she turned to Pigeonpounce.
"How are you?" She meowed, angling her ears out to the territory. They were still hunting, after all. Best not to get too distracted. "Personally, and adapting as well. It is a.. big change from what you're used to, isn't it?"

PIGEONPOUNCE
Life gives you lemons...
The only thing that helped to offset Pigeonpounce’s nerves about Cindersky’s request was the deputy’s own shivery voice when she made it. Even so: she worried. She had never really spoken to their deputy before, even if she should have. For Cindersky to make the request led her to believe she must have been in trouble for something or other. Why else would they need to talk? It was out of the ordinary, and that made Pigeonpounce’s paws tingle with discomfort. Especially to be offered a hunt--that made it all the stranger. Too casual to really make Pigeonpounce think she was being cornered for some infraction she hadn’t known she’d made, and a strange offer considering her rank. But… underneath the nerves, she was grateful for it. For the chance to take a walk, for the chance to remind herself of what she’d spent her whole life training for before it was taken from her.
The sound of Cindersky’s voice made her ears twitch. Pigeonpounce turned back from looking at the territory to blink once at her before putting on a smile. Right… this was just a conversation. She hadn’t done anything wrong. ”It… ‘s a big change, yeah. I guess ‘M doin’ alright.” Pigeonpounce shrugged, and her eyes slid away. ”’S… diff’rent. ‘N’ kinda scary. ‘N’ I never feel like ‘M the right cat for it.” She was saying too much, wasn’t she? Cindersky hadn’t asked her to spout all her nerves out. Pigeonpounce squeezed her teeth together before stretching her smile a little wider. ”But… I’m okay. Think I’ve got it figured out, now. Y’know… for th’most part, least.”
When her nose caught wind of a bird, Pigeonpounce tipped her head to Cindersky before slipping away. It didn’t take long to spot the songbird just outside a patch of reeds. Pigeonpounce sank low into her limbs and drew herself forward until she was close enough to pounce. Just as her haunches were starting to wiggle, the bird craned its head, one beady eye catching sight of her between the rushes, and took off with a cry. Pigeonpounce wilted as she watched it go. Sighing, she returned to Cindersky and tried to make herself smile again. "Maybe issa good thing 'M a medicine cat now." She laughed half-heartedly. Then she just shook her head and blinked toward the deputy. "Uhm. I guess I should'a asked 'fore walkin' off. ...sorry. How--how are you doin'? Y'seem like bein' deputy treats you well."
Pigeonpounce attempted to catch a bird... attempt unsuccessful. -2 EP.

Cindersky
I loved you...
Cindersky felt an astute pang of relief, like wind finally snapping a piece of bracken. Not the right cat for the job. She could say that again, she oft felt like she was pretending or playing most days and grasping at straw the next. "The most part," She repeated, and gave a very affirmative nod. "I oft find myself wondering if Poppystar chose right with me. I wasn't expecting it, not at all. I do not think anyone was-- and please don't pretend if you thought similar, I'm not going to be mad at you--, but I'd like to think I'm doing a good job so far."
She tilted her head up into the open sky, only lowering it when Pigeonpounce hurried off into the bushes. She offered a reassuring smile when she returned empty-pawed. "Perhaps it merely desperately wished to live today," She chuckled. "Birds are a pain in the behind anyways. Oh, StarClan, no-- Don't ask me for permission. That makes me feel too important."
The question about deputyship. Posed to her many times before and she always gave a variant of the same answer; tricky, but she was managing. Which she was. Managing. That's all. She was quiet for a time, taking in the scents of the wetland before deigning to answer. "If you think it is treating me well, then that means I'm doing a good job. I still do not know my left from right paw most days when it comes to actual duties. Though, I owe it to Poppystar-- Perchstar too, I think-- to do it well. Perchstar must have... At least I would like to think she thought I would go far. Perhaps Poppystar shared the sentiment. But I would-- Oh!"
A sudden drop to a crouch, skirting through the bushes. She did not think it was so close to her until she saw the head of brown, but it saw, and heard, her too. Her paw landed on empty, flat grass, and she hissed out a low curse. "Perhaps neither of us are meant to be catching anything today."
Cindersky is attempting to catch a mouse... Away it goes.
