Skyclan Limb Patrol | August 2024 [OPEN]

The last few days had brought heavy rains, but today the sun was shining as Wolfstar led her patrol carefully through the trees. It was about time that the camp's barricade and walls were reinforced... And with so much rain there were bound to be trees in need of cleaning up. Taking care of dangling branches before they fell on someone was part of today's goal. If the fallen remains were able to be used to shore up the camp in some fashion - patching up dens, the camp wall, the defenses outside of it, all the better. But Skyclan's safety was the most important thing.

"Watch your step." Wolfstar called to the rest of the patrol, "And be careful knocking those dangling branches down." A white paw lifted, swatting at one such dangling branch. Splintering bark hit the ground below with a soft thud.

Stormwatcher dragged along the patrol, his sister suggested to him he should tag along.... that meant he was going and didnt really have a say in it. He had learned by now the suggestion of him 'bettering himself' was meaning having to do chores and branch clean up today.

His paws were already all wet from the rain that had caused this mess in the first place. His eyes rolled in disgust and he wanted nothing more than this to be over with already.

The big guy trotted along looking at the effects the storm had on all the trees. He thought it was kinda cool! He was named after a storm!

... he was pretty sure bloodstar gave him the suffix watcher as a joke that he would only watch things. A jab at how he used to be so lazy. He quite disliked his suffix actually.

It was a daily reminder of how lazy he had been and even though he was trying to be better now it wasnt a fun reminder.

He pawed at all the sticks underpaw. 'gross' he thought unenthused.

His sister was eager as ever, did anything ever make her grumpy? He wondered.

It thudded down in front of him and he smiled watching it splinter all apart, well that was kinda cool to watch actually! If anything got his attention it was action or something, he was somewhat simple in that sense of things.

"yeah yeah I know how to do this!" he meowed complain-ily

He scampered up a nearby tree- whenever he climbed he looked very silly, such a big cat hauling himself upwards was certainly a sight to see.

He got to the loose branch and pawed at it... it swayed but didnt snap off. He rolled his eyes annoyed,

come on branch, break and explode into splinters!

He stepped more out onto it shaking at it... still nothing.

He grunted and proceeded to fully jump onto it and hopped up and down on it a couple times.

When he heard it cracking he scampered back to the trunk of the tree and seconds later it went crashing down to the forest floor.

He was very satisfied watching it fall and go everywhere.

He glanced at Wolfstar with a half grin, which for him was a major win.

Was there a reason his sister had chosen him for this job? Being the big cat that he was made this a bit easier... he swore to stars if she made a fat joke at him he would screech.

Stormwatcher was his typical grouchy self, but Wolfstar simply rolled her eyes at him, "Yes, I know, I'm repeating myself." She muttered. Some of the trees really were a mess after the recent storms... They just had to keep the mess from being a potential hazard.

Stormwatcher hopping on the branch a few times finally made it snap, and Wolfstar nodded as he sent it crashing to the forest floor below. She leapt to another branch, this one closer to the ground. The end was dangling and rotted, she'd need to be caref--

Too late, she realized, paws sliding on the slick bark. Well, at least she took the branch down with her and it wasn't a long fall... "Foxdung..." She muttered, staring up at the tree that had just dumped her onto her tail on the ground below. "And that is why I repeat myself. I'm okay!" She added more loudly, making her way back into the trees with determination.

Lighttail wasn’t about to be brought down by Stormwatcher’s mood. Her form was pretty awkward as she hauled herself up the tree, looking perhaps more like a SkyClan apprentice than an experienced senior warrior. But hey, she was climbing! The smell of the wet bark made her feel especially at home right now. It wasn’t unlike the marsh. She needed to focus, though. This was her first limb patrol and she didn’t want to fall out of a tree in front of Wolfstar.

She leapt, more like hopped, from one sturdy branch to another, looking for a loose one. Suddenly, a loud crash mingled with cursing caught her attention and she looked down, gasping and nearly slipping from her own branch. “Wolfstar!” she cried, but clamped her jaw shut as the leader climbed back up. She was all right.

Lighttail moved carefully over to a branch that seemed to have detached itself entirely but had been caught by the branches below it. With a bit of tugging, she managed to knock it to the ground.

Stormwatcher was actually having fun with this a surprise even to him.

At the sound of the snapping branch below his sister his heart dropped and time seemed to slow for a couple seconds as he could do nothing but watch it unfold. As his sister tumbled downwards, within seconds that felt more like hours she was fine.

He let out a breath and blinked feeling a bit sick.

"youve got to be joking me" he muttered under his breath while shaking his head.


"you were the one who said be careful!" he meowed annoyed at his sister.

His annoyance came from concern, not that he would ever admit that was what it was.

"I'm alright!" Wolfstar tried to reassure the two warriors, though guilt prickled at her fur. She'd scared Lighttail enough already as it was, hadn't she?

"Yeah... Clearly I need to follow my own advice." She grumbled at Stormwatcher's words. At least she hadn't actually wound up getting a lecture from Beechfang this time... But she Lighttail and Stormwatcher's yowls almost felt worse.

The leader carefully snapped another dangling branch, sending it to the forest floor below, then glanced toward Lighttail. The former Shadowclanner wasn't known for climbing, and Wolfstar could tell she wasn't the most comfortable in the trees, but she was making steady progress and the leader was happy to see it.
