Sorrelmist
skyclan
warrior
Sorrelmist woke early and went to sleep late. A habit she had adopted from their journey, from searching for hours for Plover. It had been a difficult habit to break, though she did not resent it - she had seen the beauty of sunhigh, and wandered in silence, bathed beneath the twinkling stars. Their call quietly beckoned her and with every step, she felt compelled to go further. She had ventured too far, too wide - too far to be satisfied with only knowing what lay in the invisible barriers of their land. She had seen mountains, slept beneath the stars - she still had so many questions and not enough answers. Perhaps one day the stars would answer them. Though, she knew her calling, and her responsibilities. They all lay in SkyClan - Foxpaw was her newest responsibility, and she hoped to answer questions. Had they been mistaken for entrusting her? She felt the pressure on her shoulders as she padded towards the apprentice den, pausing fox lengths before it. The same den she had shared with her sisters and brother, where moons earlier beasts had invaded. There was no time to think of the past. Of them.
Her mind fell to Foxpaw. There was excitement in passing the knowledge of those before her, pressure to provide the best education for him. Sorrelmist swallowed the doubt, the memories, the nagging and padded towards the entrance of the den, speaking in a soft voice,
“Good morning, Foxpaw,” the warrior greeted the apprentice with a brief smile, hoping he had begun to stir, “I will be waiting by the exit to camp once you have woken up. You mustn’t take too long.” Sorrelmist dipped her head before stepping out of the den once more, making her way towards the camp exit.

FOXPAW
And if the world don't break, I'll be shaking it...
Foxpaw was anxious to begin training. He’d barely slept the night before, too eager for the dawn to come. It’d left him a little groggy, but any sense of sleepiness was momentarily sapped from his body the moment a taller figure than his denmates brushed into the space. He craned his head to look and found it was Sorrelmist. His ears swiveled forward as she called out to him, and he smiled a little blearily at her. After a full-body stretch and a maw-splitting yawn, Foxpaw got to his paws. He shook himself out for good measure before padding outside.
Foxpaw cast a look full of want towards the exit as he approached and began to shift his weight between paws. ”Hey,” he murmured sleepily, ”g’mornin’.” Foxpaw had already seen the territory once, when he was younger… a fragment of it, at least. Now, he would see more. He would get to do something. Hopefully he would return with a story for Harespring, something that would make his father proud.
Shifting still, Foxpaw turned his gaze up toward his mentor. ”’M ready when you are, Sorrelmist,” he said, not without impatience. ”Can we go now?”

Sorrelmist
skyclan
warrior
The warrior blew out a sharp breath at the young tom’s request to begin, flicking her tail, inviting him to follow. She traced her usual path through the dense forest without a word before pausing and tilting her head up to the sky breaking through the trees,
“Take a look at the sky, Foxpaw. This is why I wanted you to be up,” the blue she-cat flicked her tail tip towards the sun splitting through the sky, “this is sunhigh. You will have seen it before, but sometimes you cannot truly appreciate it. Here, there is silence, nothing but the rustling of the trees to keep you company..If you are ever overwhelmed, some time here or under the stars is nice.”
Sorrelmist stopped herself from rambling on further, offering Foxpaw a small smile. How exciting it was to see the world through the eyes of someone that had started to discover what she had known for longer than he had lived. For enthusiasm, an eagerness to learn. It was a pleasant distraction from what was her burning hill of a life.
“As it is your first session, I leave the decision of what we start with to you; would you rather hunt, explore the territory, climb or battle practice?”

FOXPAW
And if the world don't break, I'll be shaking it...
Foxpaw followed eagerly when Sorrelmist led them outside. He wasn’t surprised by the view from just outside the thorn tunnel, having seen it with Firepaw, but as they padded onward, his eyes started to widen. The trees grew taller and taller the further they went. Everything around him felt so… big, and he felt so small, but it was kind of thrilling. At Sorrelmist’s instruction, he tilted his head up to look skyward. And… wow. The golden light painting everything hadn’t escaped his notice, but actually looking up at the sun as it began to crest the sky… Foxpaw had never been the type to put any stock in sunrises or sets, but this one made his heart stutter, charged by all that newness.
Foxpaw pushed out the breath that had caught in his throat and lowered his eyes back to Sorrelmist. She left the option of what to do in his paws. The weight of choice made his head spin a little bit. It all sounded so thrilling--he wanted to get his paws around all of it. He wanted to know the territory like his own pelt already, find himself at the top of a tree, know exactly how to win a fight every time. After a moment of blinking a little dumbly, Foxpaw said, ”Uh. We could try hunting?” It seemed like the safest option, except for exploring the territory. He didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of Sorrelmist on their first day together, and fighting and climbing both made that far too easy. But hunting… well, he’d bet a kit could do that, if they tried hard enough.
