The many stary medicine cats had taught her the correct herbs to give apprentices on the first journey to the Highstones. While she had them herself many moons ago, the...taste was hard to forget. Setting out from the camp, the medicine cat apprentice did her best to keep up. Her leg had begun to heal much better now that she knew what to put on it. But it didn't help the limp quite yet. "Sorry, it usually is a faster journey than this." She mewed as they approached the craggy rocks of the Highstones.
Once there, Sleepycloud led the way through the tunnels, extending her tail so the apprentice could follow her, even in the pitch black. A moment or two after they arrived, a stunning light filled the cavern, and the moonstone shone in its glory. "Touch your nose to the stone and rest. Once you are asleep, StarClan will come. You will meet them soon. When you awake, I will be here to take you home." She nodded towards the light, then settled into position, watching from a tail length away, leg slightly askew.

The reports from the other apprentices and young warriors were no joke; the traveling herbs tasted like rotten crowfood. Flickerpaw choked them down with a grimace, stomach turning and threatening to hurl the herbs back up again. He managed to keep his composure around the medicine cat, blinking the water from his eyes as the pair began the journey to Highstones. He said little as they traveled, finding that he really...did not know much about Sleepycloud other than that she was older for a medicine cat apprentice.
"Don't worry about it," they replied when she apologized, shrugging. It didn't bother them any to move a bit slower, it gave them time to think. After what Vinecrawler had told them about Gekala, they weren't so sure about what would happen during their trip to StarClan. If they're even there, Flickerpaw thought, and frowned.
The supreme darkness of the tunnel leading to the Moonstone made the fur on his spine tingle nervously. His eyes didn't adjust for a long while and he was forced to keep whiskers brushing along the stone walls. Occasionally Sleepycloud's tail would touch his whiskers as well, reassuring him that she was still there. When the light of the Moonstone blossomed into his vision, he blinked away the sudden glare, pupils shrinking almost painfully. Slowly, he padded to the stone just as Sleepycloud had told him, regarding it with suspicion. That was it? He just had to touch his nose to it? It seemed too easy.
Flickerpaw settled down in front of the glowing stone, staring at their own reflection for a moment. Finally, they leaned forward and placed their nose against the cool surface of the rock. When they opened their eyes again, they were standing in a starry clearing lined with trees much like ThunderClan's territory. They looked around with a narrowed gaze, waiting for something to happen.

"Welcome." A warm voice came from behind Flickerpaw. Morningsun sat a tail length away, stars danced across his pelt with every breath. Speaking to living souls always brought him great happiness. If he could bring reassurance and comfort to the forest, he would. The tom rose to his paws and approached the apprentice. "It is an honor to speak with you, Flickerpaw. I hope the journey to the Highstones was not too taxing."
He could still remember the excitement and the exhaustion of the day. It had happened close to the day of his passing. If anything, the memories were fresher than anything else.

Flickerpaw whirled around at the sound of a stranger's voice, his eyes widening when there was in fact someone there. A real StarClan cat had come to talk to him. He wasn't quite sure what to say. The tortoiseshell took a moment to find his own voice again, blinking incredulously. "An honor-...uh, yeah. No, the journey was fine."
Their mind was racing. If StarClan did exist for them, when they were not even of Clan heritage...what of Gekala? They weren't sure what to believe. Slowly, they sank down to their haunches and tucked their tail tightly around their paws. Their bushy tail hid the fact that they had unsheathed their claws into the earth below.
"So...you know my name, but I don't know yours. Who are you?" His voice held a suspicious note, green gaze studying the cat before him.
