Cindersky T3 Deputy| RiverClan| she/her "i loved you like the sun."
In hindsight, she did not ever want Creekpaw to have seen her in such a state. Especially not now that she was deputy. Her training of her apprentice was... less than adequate, and she knew it was her own fault. Poppyshine entrusted this new rank to her, and she did not want Creekpaw to feel slighted by her acceptance of the new duties while having less time for her. StarClan forbid, that was the last thing she wanted.
"How are you feeling, since..?" She turned her head to smile at the apprentice trailing behind her. They had never gotten around to battle training. Cindersky... frankly did not want to. It reminded her all too much of the battle, though she knew refusing to train her apprentice in it would do more harm than good. She kept walking through the moist newleaf morning, intent on finding a nice, wide open space for them. "I am sorry for.. my absences, too. They will not happen again. You deserve more than a haphazard training."

Creekpaw hadn't really known what to do with herself, since everything had happened. It was all so fast. Suddenly her mentor was the deputy, and while that had felt good to see, it also hurt? In a way where her mentor would go down that path too, of becoming the larger-than-life figure that kits would look up to. Someday she'd be Cinderstar, and would the next generation know her as she is? Or just the figure that lead them, that was chosen by Starclan?
She tried not to think about it. Cindersky wasn't leader yet, and would hopefully not be for many, many moons.
Snapping from her thoughts, Creekpaw's gaze flicked up to Cindersky, who had turned to face her as they walked. "Weird, I guess? I hadn't seen death before." She paused, debating how much of her thoughts she should reveal to her mentor. "I didn't really know Perchstar, it's hard for me to feel... I don't know, despondent? She was a beloved leader, but that is all I knew her as. That's why it feels weird I think." The apprentice's face scrunched a bit as she continued. "I just want other kits and apprentices to know the ones in charge, in the future at least. I wish I could feel as sad as most of the clan does, but I don't cause I didn't know her. It doesn't feel good, I guess."
"Don't worry about my trainings, or anything." Creekpaw looked off to the side, eye contact feeling like a distant prospect. The idea of putting any more pressure on her mentor felt wrong. The apprentice had always enjoyed experimenting, if she had to, she'd find another warrior to train her. Or, she'd figure it out herself. "Are you feeling okay?" Surely she wasn't, and if she said she was Creekpaw might very well roll her eyes. It wasn't really her place to ask, and she wouldn't pry, but she knew it was the polite thing to do. Even if it hurt, just a bit.

Cindersky
I loved you...
"Weird is a good way to put it," She continued then. "It is understandable for you to feel... outside it all. You did not know, or get a chance to know, Perchstar for long. She would have like you, though. I can tell you that for certain."
A hint of a smile gracing her face, she hummed; "It is my job to worry about your training." She flicked an ear and craned her neck downward to speak with the apprentice at eye level. Not that she had to lean far, truly. Creekpaw was growing as she should be, and Cindersky seemed to forget to grow after the middle of her own apprenticeship.
The last question, admittedly, gave her more pause than she'd like. She glanced aside, opening her mouth and closing it again, and then sighed. "It is still... Fresh," She answered. "But in the way a fresh wound stops stinging when you settle it. It will be hard, but I will be okay. We all will, like how the flowers always grow again."
