The nursery was quiet for once. That had very quickly become an incredible blessing. Falconkit and his littermates were more than enough for the den--but then came the addition of Rapidfire’s litter, and now Nectarflower’s, too. To have a moment of peace was a luxury any of the nursery’s occupants were rarely afforded. But now, stars bless this day, Falconkit had snagged that rare fraction of quiet for himself. Moonkit tossed around in her nest at odd hours, but her quiet shuffling was hardly a bother. It was practically silence compared to the usual commotion. Falconkit relished in being able to sprawl on his side, stretching out the entire length of his body. His torso and legs were already long; he was growing fast. He liked having the wiggle room.

Pawsteps made his ears twitch, but he paid them no mind. The gait wasn’t familiar, so he figured whoever it was, they weren’t coming for him. But the steps drew right up to his side, and whoever-it-was gave him a curious sniff. Falconkit cracked open an eye and raised his head right as his visitor--Sunkit, he registered after a few slow blinks--settled down beside him. A bolt of surprise went through him, but it didn’t show on his face. Sunkit seemed harsh and largely preoccupied with her own family; not the type to seek him out. Curiosity made his ears twitch. He didn’t have to wait long to find out what drew her to him.

Foreign warmth ran under his pelt. Immediately, he decided he liked it. Falconkit’s usual smirk sprawled across his muzzle and he rolled onto his back, curling slightly toward Sunkit. She wasn’t half bad to look at, with warm spots breaking through her dark fur like patches of sunlight and sharpness in her eyes. Even if she wasn’t easy on the eyes, he couldn’t very well turn her away after she called him handsome. ”Well, I’m waiting for a pretty face to come and find me,” he purred back. ”Someone with… dark fur, I think. Andddd... orange patches.” He squinted and stretched his neck to take a closer look at her. ”A bit of brown, too. Oh, and green eyes.” Falconkit stretched out a paw to tap the orange spot that flourished on Sunkit’s chest. ”And a little spot of sunshine, right there.” Falconkit’s grin got a little wider. He rolled back onto his side and sat up to properly meet Sunkit’s eyes. ”Sounds like that’s you, Sunshine. Come to whisk me away somewhere?”
